A convenience store employee allegedly attacked a 64-year-old customer over the price of beer, striking him with the six-pack, repeatedly beating him and apparently stabbing him with a screwdriver, prosecutors say.
Qvon Turner, 25, was working the register at a store in the 1100 block of North Ashland Avenue on the evening of September 21 when the customer disputed the price of the beer, which he believed cost about $11, according to prosecutors. The two argued for about 20 seconds before the customer requested a refund. Turner refused, grabbed the six-pack and allegedly slammed it into the right side of the man’s face.
The customer backed toward the front door, but Turner allegedly came around the counter while pulling an item from his pocket. Prosecutors said he took the man to the ground and climbed on top of him. As the victim lay on his back, using his hands to shield his face, Turner struck him repeatedly, leaving him “severely bleeding,” according to prosecutors. Turner then pulled out a long, thin metal object and made stabbing motions toward the man’s eyes and ears as the victim tried to protect his face and drag himself toward the exit.
...
Turner, who has no other adult criminal cases in Cook County, is charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm to a victim older than 60. Judge James Costello granted the state’s petition to detain Turner pending trial.

Analysis:
From the point of view of the victim (and the authorities), it was over the price of a six-pack.
But I speculate it was a matter of the clerk feeling dissed over the situation.
Boring
Qvon...Obviously Amish
Low IQ and no impulse control.
Indeed. Just another day in the big city.
“Qvon”?! Where do they come up with these names?
Qvon?
I think I see the problem.
Last name Yoder or Stoltzfus?
OMG , just say no thank you leave and go someplace else ,LOL
“”aggravated battery causing great bodily harm to a victim older than 60.””
That’s in their law? That’s similar to the law passed years ago SOMEWHERE that made the punishment worse if a violation of the law was committed against a peace officer - I think...Hard to remember all the silliness that takes place.
I thought that only the islamics don’t use the mandatory “u” after “q”.
good grounds to sue the store owner into penury ...
Then why did you post this?
But I speculate it was a matter of the clerk feeling dissed over the situation.
Many years ago there was a liquor store near us that I used to frequent. Nice decent people owned it, pleasant and easygoing.
They eventually sold it to some Pakistanis, who raised the prices of everything, put a rack of girlie magazines by the cash register, and watched every move you made while inside the store. Very unfriendly people.
I stopped patronizing them rather quickly. At least they weren’t violent, but then I never gave them a reason to be.
good grounds to sue the store owner into penury
or sue for every 10 penny(that’s beer right?)
No other “adult” charges. But I’ll bet he’s got a juvenile rap sheet a mile long.

Qvon?
Them. Avoid THEM.
Your life may depend upon it.
With a name like Qvon it’s hard to be qvonimous. You know exactly who he is, what future he is predestined to, propensity for violence, criminal record, etc.
Thankful for these names based on a random handful of Scrabble tiles. Along with situational awareness, the chance of my being robbed at gunpoint (again) might be a little less.
I’d offer ‘the community’ some help by way of painfully true observations, admonishments, and advice - but I really don’t care and you’re not going to listen to me anyway.
