With a little more than three weeks to go until the Oct. 19 referendum, a new poll done for CBC News suggests support for separation has softened since spring. Janet Brown Opinion Research, in a random survey of 1,200 Albertans between Sept. 8 and 21, asked respondents the same question they’ll face on referendum day: “Should Alberta remain a province of Canada, or should the government of Alberta commence the legal process required under the Canadian Constitution to hold a binding provincial referendum on whether or not Alberta should separate from Canada?” Twenty-three per cent of respondents said they’d vote...

Hundreds of people are currently under medical observation after a laboratory worker died from an "unspecified form of plague" in Russia. Health authorities in Siberia’s Irkutsk region said nearly 200 people are under medical observation, according to media reports and a statement by a regional leader on Friday. The Moscow Times said that Alexei Tsydenov, head of the neighbouring republic of Buryatia, confirmed that the woman had died from an unspecified form of plague. Tsydenov, however, said “there are no plague outbreaks in the republic, including in areas bordering Mongolia”. Russian media outlets have identified the woman as Daria Sh.,...

In 2022, I went on a French television show to debate what makes a woman a woman. For expressing my opinion, I have been convicted as a criminal. Marie Cau, the first transgender woman elected as mayor in France, poses on May 24, 2020. (François Lo Presti/AFP via Getty Images) The show was Quelle Époque!, a popular talk show, and across from me sat Marie Cau, France’s first transgender mayor. I argued that self-identification laws were potentially dangerous to women. I cited cases of men identifying as trans women who were transferred to women’s prisons, and later committed acts of...

WASHINGTON — Verbal sharpshooter Sen. John Kennedy kept the door open to a 2028 presidential run and defended Sen. Tom Cotton from President Trump’s wrath over his blocking of the Sunshine Protection Act. “My plans right now are to run for re-election, but as I’ve said before, if I don’t think I can be effective in the Senate anymore, I would consider it,” the 74-year-old told NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday. “I haven’t made a decision. If a bunch of, on my side of the aisle, if a bunch of goobers run, and I think they’re goobers, and one...

My dear friends, Almighty God’s Word has given us a clear-cut picture of how events will be and transpire in the last days (Matt. 24; 1 Thess. 4:13-18; 5:1-3; 2 Thess. 2:3-12; Jude 1; Rev. 6-19). The common denominator of our Last Day's world is the EXPONENTIAL growth of all things! Absolutely nothing can or will stop these events from coming to pass. Today, Americans live in a false reality and security; they delude themselves, saying, “Peace and safety can never happen to us.” My dear friend, that is our greatest delusion and Achilles heel! America will eventually succumb to...

Todd Waller wasn't expecting to spend the latter half of his 30s living with roommates. But in late 2022, following a breakup with his girlfriend, he needed to find a new place to live, quickly. A social worker based in the Atlanta metro, Waller started googling "efficiency apartments" and stumbled onto an ad for PadSplit, a company founded in 2017 that lets property owners rent out individual furnished bedrooms in single-family homes by the week. "It said I could get approved right away and move in tomorrow," he recalled. There was no security deposit required. All of a sudden, Waller...

When the first survivors’ accounts came out of Israel’s kibbutzim, I had the terrible sense that I had heard them before. And I had, in South Sudan. More than two decades earlier, I traveled to Sudan to witness Christian Solidarity International freed 2,952 black Africans from slavery. My American Anti-Slavery Group had helped raise funds to buy back their freedom. The freed slaves told us that the raiders came at dawn, screaming “Allahu akbar!” and murdered at will. They gang-raped the women and girls, then dragged them off as captives to use as concubines, domestics, or to sell. On October...

Rejoining would be a disaster. We’re ready to stop him, with your helpAndy Burnham wants to talk about rejoining the European Union. After 11 weeks in the job he’s given up on his devolution agenda and landed back in the Left-wing safe space of centralising power again in Brussels. His cynical political calculation is obvious, especially after the raid on pensions he signalled at the Labour conference last week. He’s trading older, white working class voters for younger, city-dwelling left-wing activist-types.He desperately wants to beat Zack Polanski and his Green Party in the Holborn by-election this week, and carry that momentum...

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Los Angeles World Airports is responding to reports of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents operating at Los Angeles International Airport. Cellphone video recorded Friday night shows federal law enforcement agents arresting a woman and placing her into a truck. In the video, an Eyewitness is heard asking the agents why they are taking the woman, to what one of them responds "immigration violation". The woman is then heard saying "I'm not doing anything wrong." Airport officials said federal agencies handle their own independent investigations and that airport operations are continuing as normal. The reported activity comes...

Australian authorities are investigating a flydubai co-pilot's "links to Australia" after he attacked the captain on a Tel Aviv-bound flight. The co-pilot of the flydubai flight 1073, which had departed from Dubai, attacked the pilot with an emergency crash axe inside the cockpit and attempted to take control of the aircraft to commit a "terrorist attack", the United Arab Emirates prosecutor general said on Saturday. He was identified as Hamam al Hammami, an Omani national. Flydubai said it had launched a full investigation. Two sources briefed on the investigation said the co-pilot studied at a university in Melbourne. Local media...

A groundbreaking new poll conducted ahead of November’s midterm elections has uncovered that over 30% of Americans have a favorable view of socialism. According to the OnMessage poll, which surveyed 800 American voters from July 12-16, 35% of respondents identified as Democrats, 84% of whom identified as Gen Z. “Embracing socialism is no longer a fringe talking point for Democratic voters. The findings confirm...

“Seven men drugged and gang raped a 20-year-old woman.” That verdict in the alleged Cornell rape case was delivered by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who has joined a chorus of others in pronouncing the guilt of Cornell students accused of raping a fellow student. Mind you, not a single witness has testified under oath publicly and not a single charge has been brought. However, guilt is now being collectively declared from the usual figures and outlets who have never been late to mob justice. Ocasio-Cortez declared, “I want to be clear that the culture of rape, sexual assault, and pedophilia is...
