Father in heaven,
We thank You for Your diligent watch care over us. Thank You! and praise Your holy name for the safety of the flydubai flight and all the brave men, women, and children who worked together to subdue the terrorist and land the plane safely. Thank You that there was no loss of life and very little in the way of injuries. We pray for the recovery of the pilot who so bravely acted and prevented a tragedy.
As we look at the actions of many radical Islamists, we ask You, Father, to protect us as well. Please stop the advance of islam across the world. Thwart their plans for evil and destruction. Let them not succeed. Let timing fail, equipment fail, messages miscarry, plans be revealed. Protect us from violent acts of terror, but also protect us from the most subtle infiltration for our destruction through legal means and through voting and elections.
You have commanded us to pray for our enemies, and so we ask that You would move in the hearts and minds of those who seek our harm to bring them to salvation. Convict them of their sin and bring them to a place of repentance and faith in Your Son, Jesus Christ.
Please give our leaders at all levels of the political arena, wisdom and discernment in dealing with those who have openly stated their goal is our destruction.
We look to You to protect us in ways that we can't ourselves. And we will praise You for it. In Jesus' name.

Dear Metmom: My last reading today had this prayer for those who you mentioned at the end of your post. Thought I’d share it as an addition to our prayers. This is what I read:
Prayer For the Damned
Dear Holy God, I remember today all those who spend their lives denouncing Christ; the sarcastic atheists who make fun of believers; the people whose careers are built on trying to discredit your Word; and all those who follow false, dead-end religions. Help me to expunge any anger I may feel when attacked by such people, or when I hear their misguided words. Let your Spirit be strong in me, to educate my tongue, if I am called upon to respond to one of them; and let me always answer in love and serenity.
Most of all, heavenly Father, forgive them; if it be Your will, bring the light of your salvation to them, heal them of their bitterness and self-absorption, that any and all of them might find the beauty of life in Christ, and be torn away from the clutches of Satan. In the name of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ,
