The government has given nearly 1,000 hijabs to migrants who crossed the Channel in small boats this year, according to reports. The Mail on Sunday claims internal government documents show officials gave 974 hijabs this year, a religious headdress some Muslim women and girls wear. The hijabs were handed out in clothing packs given to every migrant that reaches the UK via small boats over the Channel, reports suggest. The Home Office has responded by insisting it has the legal duty to provide them under the government short-term holding facility rules, first established under the Conservative government in 2018, and...

Feelings are valued, they’re celebrated, more than rational thought is. People with deeply emotional political feelings are certain they have winning arguments. Let’s engage them. You hate Trump so, so much? Well, that settles it. And you feel that criminals shouldn’t languish behind bars, even after committing two or however many crimes? Oh, your feelings reflect true justice. In your heart, you believe that about 15 million people (twice the population of New Jersey) living in the U.S. illegally deserve sanctuaries from immigration enforcement, ones defended by street protestors. . . and they should be given benefits not available to...

California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Wednesday rejected a bill that would have given the watchdog of California’s expensive, delayed high-speed rail project the powers it says it needs to quickly staff up and provide expert oversight. The Democratic governor vetoed Assembly Bill 1608, which would exempt the Inspector General of high-speed rail from a lengthy job reclassification process for qualified auditors and give it a $1 million purchase authority to avoid drawn-out contracting rules. Those tools are “absolutely essential” for its auditing, the inspector general previously said.

By Dr. John BergsmaThe past several Sundays we have been reading from the vineyard parables of Jesus in Matthew, and this Sunday we reach a climactic point in the hostility between the leaders of the people (chief priests and elders) and Jesus. The Readings for this Lord’s Day are skillfully chosen to complement the Gospel reading. Most commentators agree that the vine parables of the Old Testament found in Isaiah 5 and Psalm 80 are the textual background for Jesus’ own vineyard parable in Matthew 21:33-43. The First Reading gives us Isaiah 5:1-7, the key prophetic parable that identifies the...

WORD POWER!! During the invasion of Salerno, Allied forces employed propaganda on a scale they had never tried before. Artillery was used to fire shells, each containing thousands of leaflets, encouraging the Germans to surrender and promising them humane treatment if they did. The shells would open about 300 feet in the air and rain down the leaflets on German troops. One British Major made no secret of his anger at having to fire leaflets at the enemy instead of high explosives. In a short while, however, he changed his mind. For days his men had been slugging it...

Technology is changing the way we shop, and it’s happening faster than most people realise. Businesses have every right to protect themselves from theft. But as AI, cameras and automated monitoring become more common, it’s also worth asking where we draw the line between security, convenience and privacy. Once new technology becomes part of everyday life, it’s rarely rolled back.

The hijacking of the Dubai airliner carrying Israeli passengers might be the beginning of a horrifying new terrorist tactic of recruiting and radicalizing real pilots to do 9/11-style attacks, a former IDF colonel and veteran intelligence officer warns. “An individual doesn’t get the idea on his own to crash a plane full of people including himself. Somebody told him that if you do that you get your 72 virgins,” Miri Eisin, now an Israeli government spokesman, told The Post. “If you think back to past plane hijackings, including 9/11, the hijacker was never the pilot of the plane. . ....

Donald Trump attempted to turn up the heat on fellow Republican Tom Cotton in the fight to change daylight saving time, even giving out what appeared to be the Arkansas senator's personal cell phone number. The President spent much of Saturday speaking out in favor of The Sunshine Protection Act, which would make daylight saving time permanent. The bill passed the House in July but faces roadblocks among Republicans, including Cotton, who is strongly opposed. 'For some reason, Tom is stopping the Bill and, in the Senate, it´s very easy to do, it only takes one!' Trump wrote on social...

"My Word . . . shall not return to Me . . . without accomplishing what I desire" (Isa. 55:11). "Man does not live by bread alone, but . . . by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord" (Deut. 8:3). God’s Word is both productive and nourishing. The Bible contains many precious promises, two of which relate specifically to itself. First, the prophet Isaiah said that the Word is productive: "As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth, and making it bear and sprout, and...
