California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Wednesday rejected a bill that would have given the watchdog of California’s expensive, delayed high-speed rail project the powers it says it needs to quickly staff up and provide expert oversight.

The Democratic governor vetoed Assembly Bill 1608, which would exempt the Inspector General of high-speed rail from a lengthy job reclassification process for qualified auditors and give it a $1 million purchase authority to avoid drawn-out contracting rules.

Those tools are “absolutely essential” for its auditing, the inspector general previously said.

Gavin Newsom believes in the honor system and wants children in California to learn from watching it in practice.

If you can't trust politicians in California with billions of dollars flowing around among contractors, suppliers, lobbyists and inspectors, then who can you trust?

Newscum is dyslexic, an inveterate liar and serial adulterer, as well as a corrupt bastard whose only goal is power—never forget that. Never forget he spent $ ONE BILLION on masks during the covid fiasco and spent $TWENTY BILLION on “homeless relief” That disappeared and no one can find. The man is pure evil.

Why does Governor Newsom care about where the choo-choo go?

I agree. He doesn’t want his gravy train to be audited.
He can’t skim any money that way.

One suspects that the California High Speed (hahaha) Rail would never, ever, ever survive a comprehensive audit.

One also suspects that criminality (spelled u.n.i.o.n.s) could be uncovered with such a comprehensive audit.

The “train to nowhere” will never be completed. If Hilton wins, the train will be audited then shut down. If “Baccarea” wins, look for continued boondoggle spending until it eventually dies for lack of funding. Shame on California, a beautiful state in death throes.
