I knew it! Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass were lying when they said it would be “easy” for fire victims to get a permit to rebuild their homes. From March 1 through June 30, 2025, more than 5,000 fire victims have visited the government’s “one stop center,” and 948 of them have applied for a building permit. But only 44 of them have actually received a building permit.By Daniel Alman (aka Dan from Squirrel Hill)June 30, 2025The very first time that I heard California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass say that they were creating a “one...

Public Servant Gavin Newsom’s rise in California politics and acquired power since the 1990s has been through the knavery of family and influential friends. If you ever doubted that politics is made up of the elite class who see themselves as the ruling class, but want the taxpayers to pay for everything, doubt no more: Governor Gavin Newsom and the “First Partner” (his wife) acquired a $9.1 million home in Marin County, I reported in November 2024. It’s time to revisit this issue because we still don’t have any answers on this home acquisition, or the $3.7 million Fair Oaks...

The homeless man accused of a shooting spree in Santa Monica has been charged with three counts of attempted murder amid a wave of violence from transients that has Los Angeles residents on edge. David John Hairston II, 31, allegedly ambushed and shot a police officer at a pedestrian mall in the seaside enclave on Wednesday, just days after allegedly shooting two teens who were riding a self-driving taxi, according to prosecutors. Hairston was arrested after a citywide manhunt; he faces various weapons charges on top of the attempted murders, with a maximum sentence of 104 years to life in...

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has accused Fox News of defamation in a $787 million lawsuit, he announced Thursday. The lawsuit centers on claims made by Fox News host Jesse Watters, who said Newsom lied about his phone calls with President Donald Trump during Los Angeles immigration protests earlier this month, Politico first reported. The lawsuit accuses Watters’ program of selectively editing a video of Trump to support a false narrative that Newsom lied about the date of their phone call regarding the deployment of troops to LA. “If Fox News wants to lie to the American people on Donald Trump’s...

While Los Angeles burned—as rocks and bottles rained down on federal officers and National Guard troops deployed by presidential order—California Governor Gavin Newsom was sipping wine in Napa Valley, at an estate where the flagship Cabernet sells for $360 a bottle. On June 7, as rioters assaulted police, torched cars, and smashed windows across downtown Los Angeles, Newsom attended a wine tasting dubbed “Vineyard Vibes” at the Odette Estate Winery, an elite property he co-founded in 2011. According to Christopher Rufo and Ryan Thorpe at City Journal, the event served up live jazz, wood-fired smash burgers, and promotional copy so...

"Since you’re so eager to talk about me, how about saying it to my face?" Newsom then suggested. "Let's debate. Time and place?" Vance is also seen as a contender for 2028, and Newsom may want to watch out, especially with how well Vance did against Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) in last October's debate against Harris' poorly vetted and particularly failed running mate.

On Friday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Source,” former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) said that California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) is “doing a good job” of fighting against the Trump administration in a way that lots of Democrats want, and “Democratic cities, mayors and governors better get ahead of disruption, get ahead of any violence and protests, very quickly.” De Blasio responded to Newsom challenging Vice President JD Vance to a debate by saying, “I think that’s smart of Gavin Newsom, certainly, for his political future, but also to get Democrats back on the offensive. I think...

California Gov. Gavin Newsom threw on a pair of sunglasses and sipped wine at a ritzy charity event at his sun-drenched vineyard earlier this month – just as chaotic, anti-ICE protests kicked off in Los Angeles. The luxe event dubbed “Vineyard Vibes” was held at the Odette Estate Winery in Napa Valley to raise money for the PlumpJack Foundation, founded by Newsom’s sister, on the afternoon of June 7. One witness was appalled that the Democrat was casually enjoying a glass of vino in a V-neck T-shirt and baseball cap the day after his City of Angels started spiraling into...

A federal appeals court on Thursday extended its block of a judge's order that directed President Trump to return control of California's National Guard to Gov. Gavin Newsom. The unanimous order from a three-judge panel for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit is a victory for the president and allows for the continued deployment of roughly 4,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles, where they have been protecting federal property and U.S. immigration agents during enforcement operations.

A large mob was seen looting an AutoZone store in South Los Angeles early Monday morning, and the incident was likely connected to a street takeover that took place nearby.

Federal District Court Judge Charles Breyer's order instructing President Trump to turn control over the National Guard troops he assigned to protect federal property and the ICE agents working in Los Angeles to Gov. Newsom was stayed by a three judge panel of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Newsom called the stay "a tragic miscarriage of justice. The city was entirely peaceful until ICE started the trouble by trying to arrest folks that I granted sanctuary. If it weren't for this provocation there would've been no need for protesters to start fires, assault police, and loot a shoe store...

A federal appeals court panel late Thursday temporarily lifted a judge’s order ruling President Trump’s deployment of the National Guard illegal, enabling the troops to remain assisting with immigration raids in Los Angeles, for now. The ruling from the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals landed mere hours after U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer ordered the president to return control of the troops to California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) by Friday afternoon. The Trump administration in urging the 9th Circuit to immediately intervene called the judge’s order “unprecedented” and an “extraordinary intrusion” into Trump’s authority.

On Wednesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The Briefing,” host Jen Psaki stated that California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) is doing “sort of the opposite” of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) in that Newsom “doesn’t want the National Guard to be intervening in these protests” and that protests in San Antonio have been peaceful. Psaki said, “This is the scene in San Antonio, Texas right now. Hundreds of people holding signs, playing music, cheering, and chanting, peacefully protesting ICE raids in their community. In response to organizers planning that San Antonio rally, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that he would deploy the...

This is about all of us, this is about you,” Gavin Newsom declared this week, his eyes boring into the lens of a camera. In a televised speech styled like a State of the Union address, the California governor warned that the scenes in Los Angeles, where thousands of military troops took to the streets this week to clamp down on protests against President Trump’s immigration raids, were a taste of things to come. “Other states are next. Democracy is next. Democracy is under assault before our eyes. This moment we have feared has arrived,” he said. Newsom’s latest battle...

Life under Jerry Brown wasn't quite as bad, but the state had already become a Dem-run toilet. .. Los Angeles had a Republican mayor, and the state was in the midst of a 16-year run of Republican governors. But that was the 20th century. Good times. By the time I left, Kamala Harris was my new senator, and it was obvious that Newsom would be on his way to the governor's office. Oh, and Karen Bass was my representative in Congress. Yay me. California has been in a bit of a doom spiral since then. Its economy gets a built-in...

Someone tell Gavin Newsom he’s not the president of the United States. No one was obligated to carry his little address, but he’s a Democrat, anti-Trump, and pro-illegal alien, so some outlets did. Supposedly, he texted Fox News’ Sean Hannity to carry his broadcast, but there was no audio. It was a disaster. It was almost as if the political gods were screaming, ‘not ready for primetime’ concerning Newsom, who got slapped down by a judge regarding his emergency motion to block federal troops from being deployed in Los Angeles. The city is again on fire, with Newsom among those...

California Governor Gavin Newsom delivered a (prerecorded?) formal address to California on Tuesday evening amid ongoing Los Angeles riots. A desperate Newsom, who is actually hunkered down in LA right now, text Fox News host Sean Hannity and begged him to cover his address to California. WATCH: Sean Hannity just said that Gavin Newsom texted him to ask him to cover his “address.” Dude is pathetic. pic.twitter.com/d3kLQoLZtM — johnny maga (@_johnnymaga) June 11, 2025 However, Newsom’s formal address was off to a bad start because there was no audio. CBS News noted there was a problem with the audio: #BREAKING:...

A federal judge has declined an emergency motion filed by Gov. Gavin Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta to stop what they are calling an “unlawful militarization” of Los Angeles. U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer also granted the Trump administration’s request for more time to respond to the governor’s filing. A court hearing regarding the matter is scheduled for Thursday. The motion accuses President Donald Trump of using federal troops and commandeering state National Guard personnel to carry out immigration enforcement. The legal filing, part of an ongoing lawsuit against Trump, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and the Department of Defense,...

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and the state’s attorney general filed their much-anticipated lawsuit over President Trump’s decision to send in California National Guard troops to Los Angeles to quell immigration protests, calling it an “unprecedented power grab.” Filed in federal court in San Francisco on Monday afternoon, the suit asks a federal judge to block Trump’s authorization as an unconstitutional incursion into state authority under the 10th Amendment.
