WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court sided with the Trump administration Monday in a case over President Donald Trump's executive order restricting mail-in voting, though it remains unclear how much can be implemented before the fast-approaching midterm elections.
The decision leaves room for additional court challenges that could further slow Trump's order, and other similar cases have already been filed. The U.S. Postal Service laid out how it would implement the order last week, but time is running short to impose major changes with some states beginning to send mail ballots to voters in just a few weeks.
The court's conservative majority didn't decide the legality of Trump's order, instead ruling that the states did not have the legal right to challenge it.
"The Court's disposition of this application does not mean that any measure taken by the Government to implement the Order will necessarily be lawful. On that score, time will tell," the majority wrote in an unsigned order.

This is a very big deal.
This is consistent with the 2020 election rulings.
It makes full common sense to have chain of custody knowledge while ballots are in the mail.
People are usually not foolish to put money in the mail. No prosecutors would be foolish enough to put evidence in the mail.(and think it could then pass scrutiny)
It is very common sense.
Yep.
Catch22 by design.
multiple authentication processes can make mail in voting more secure but it will never be totally secure like same day voting.
The “Courts” are largely beyond common sense comprehension.
Traitor Roberts has let things get WAY out of control.
Our Civil Society is now not.
States cannot violate the BOR to conduct their elections.
By not securing their elections they violate the Equal Protection clause.
I thought the Supreme Court was off for the Summer? They work five or six months a year. Otherwise they’re promoting books or giving expensive speeches.
Still, they work more than our Senators and Representatives out pimping themselves and doing junkets.
Finally, there is President Trump who works 18 hours a day every day years at a time. Fueled by Big Macs and Diet Coke. Haha.
I wish he would switch to iced tea. Unsweet.
So, if President Trump moves ahead and the Order is found “unlawful” in December, is the election invalidated? How will that work?
I’d love for all those stinking lefties to suddenly become “election deniers.”
“I’d love for all those stinking lefties to suddenly become “election deniers.”
That’s what we’re going to get.
USPS will deliver ballots only in accordance with federal laws.
The commies are certainly in a foaming at the mouth frenzy right now. ANY AND ALL appeals have to go to the USSC if it’s the states trying to reverse this stay.
Individuals can only sue the state for failure to conduct an election that counts their legal ballot. The states have been designated as failures unless they can prove otherwise.
The left is in a corner. They are sure to be desperate.
Some Biden or Obama judge will probably overturn the Supreme Court’s decision. 😏
When we hear the word “mail-in voting”
Everyone should immediately think “electoral FRAUD.”
This issue concerns Mail Voting ONLY.
Everyone can still actually vote at a polling place. And the legit ballots in the mail will likely be delivered.
Counties in CA and some other states will have to expand the number of polling places to accommodate the surge. My city of 250,000 has but ONE, ONE poll. For the whole town. And it’s the county seat.
Eight years ago they had over 30.
I agree. I support the goal but I question the means as it certainly would set a precedent that could be used against GOP by an Dem administration.
Boy, those days are gone. I remember when we used to be able to put a couple dimes or even a couple quarters into a mail envelope to order something. Comic book style. The Post Office could be trusted to deliver it.
Nowadays? Two years of stolen packages and checks. Complaints to the 'postmaster'. Mail carrier thief reassigned. New Postman actually delivers mail consistently without the attitude of the giant black woman with dreadlocks.
This gal stole several thousands in mail order gems and jewelry just from us, but there is no proof. USPS says it was delivered.
There's your chain of custody.
Now, trust the mail in ballots
Per the site “Legal Insurrection”
“This ruling does not have anything to do with the new USPS mail-ballot rules. Another injunction still blocks those rules.”
It was started only for service members away from home. Back to the Civil War.
