Diagnosis rates of autism among children have more than tripled over the past 15 years. One reason, which Minnesota’s welfare scandal lays bare with shocking details, is Medicaid fraud and abuse. Medicaid pays healthcare providers big bucks to diagnose and treat children with autism—sometimes tens of thousands of dollars a month for a single child. Yet states rarely verify that kids who are diagnosed actually meet the medical criteria for the disorder or that they get appropriate treatment from qualified specialists. The result: Children covered by Medicaid or the government-run Children’s Health Insurance Program are 2.5 times as likely as...

American singer Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have hard-launched their relationship on social media, laying to rest months of dating rumors. Perry, a 13-time Grammy nominee, posted on Saturday a video on Instagram that showed her eating sushi in Tokyo as Trudeau, with his arm behind her, looked on with an amorous gaze. “Tokyo times on tour and more,” Perry wrote in the caption of a carousel that included the video and also a selfie with Trudeau. The pop star was performing last week in Saitama, about 15 miles north of Tokyo, as part of her...

Pete Hegseth “runs around on a stage talking about lethality and warrior ethos and killing people. … That’s not the message that needs to come from the Secretary of Defense,” complained Sen. Mark Kelly last week. The message, especially coming from a former Navy captain, is so bizarre it borders on satire. Nations have had organized armies since recorded history started around 3000 B.C. And, in the words of the late, great Rush Limbaugh, the whole point of having a military is to kill people and break things, even if that military is exclusively employed for defensive purposes. Surely even...

Columbia Borough police weren’t about to let anyone — or anything — ruin a visit from Saint Nicholas on Saturday night. Authorities say they responded to multiple calls regarding a suspect, dressed as Santa, who threatened to ruin Christmas while Saint Nicholas was distributing free Christmas trees at the Turkey Hill store located at 301 Linden Street. When they arrived, officers found the suspect attempting to escape in a multicolored tow truck belonging to Unlimited Towing. He didn’t get far, according to a Crimewatch release. The suspect was apprehended, and during a search, police said they discovered contraband (pine needles)...

A man who is accused of raping a woman outside a Nashville church, who later died, has a long list of offenses that have been largely dismissed. FOX 17 News has found he has a long list of offenses, and spoke with victim advocates who said enough is enough. They are demanding change in the criminal justice system. According to the Davidson County Sheriff's Office, Mohamed is still behind bars on a $300,000 bond. But victim advocates like Verna Wyatt said the suspect should have stayed behind bars for his previous offenses to prevent the accused rape. "It's infuriating," she...

A border abandoned and laws ignored have turned public frustration into a sweeping backlash that now threatens even legal immigration. It is hard now even for Democrats to defend illegal immigration, given that the Biden administration allowed in more than 10 million entrants. Among them were an estimated 500,000 criminals. No one believes that was wise or should ever be repeated. Worse, the message went out that there would be few, if any, deportations and no real ICE kinetic activity beyond the border. The world’s poor, sick, both law-abiding and criminal, young and old, understood that anyone could now enter...

A Florida circuit judge refused to halt the long-planned and anticipated Florida bear hunt. The bear hunt is the first to be allowed since 2014-15, when 305 bears were harvested in two days. Bear Warriors United, a non-profit association, attempted to stop the hunt. Here is the first sentence in Bear Warriors United vision: Our vision is to create a Florida where people and wildlife coexist in balance and mutual respect. The vision implies nature is in balance without humans, and animals are legitimately regarded as the equal of humans. It is a basic misunderstanding of reality. There is no...

A few years ago, I penned a piece titled “Democratic Party Platform 2020,” which was viewed many times on several different “platforms,” including this one. (American Thinker always comes first.) As we approach the 2026 and 2028 elections, I thought it might be a good time to update said piece, especially given current events. Though Democrats don’t usually say much other than “Trump bad,” “Republicans fascists,” and “no one should ever have the right to disagree with anything we are — and aren’t — saying,” here is what the Democrats' updated platform appears to be, in a casual format: *We...

2,000-year-old Jerusalem city wall uncovered. The section of the wall unearthed at the Tower of David Museum is among the longest and most intact segments ever uncovered. JNS Staff. A section of Jerusalem’s city wall dating from the Hasmonean period more than two thousand years ago has been unearthed in the city’s Tower of David Museum, the Israel Antiquities Authority announced on Monday. Qatar, Turkey trying to dissuade Hamas from disarming, as Phase II of ceasefire still under discussion. Alternatives proposed would see Hamas give up its weapons to the Palestinian Authority or transferred them to a secure storage under oversight, which could preserve Hamas' influence in Gaza; this is likely to be the main issue discussed at the Trump-Netanyahu meeting in Florida The second phase of the Gaza ceasefire plan is still being shaped by the Americans, though nothing has been finalized. Israel and the U.S. jointly drafted the original 20‑point plan, which included a clear agreement that Hamas must be disarmed....

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton wants the records in his divorce case to remain private. In a court filing earlier this week, Paxton’s lawyer argued that the case records should remain sealed because the media organizations arguing for their release want to “invade and publicize the most sensitive aspects of the Paxtons’ marital and private lives.” He added state law also does not require the records to be made public, calling the attempt to access them an “unprecedentedly broad and intrusive request.” Paxton’s wife, state Sen. Angela Paxton, declined to comment for this story. Angela Paxton filed for divorce in...

Everyone is shocked, shocked, that there is corruption going on in Minnesota, what with Feeding Our Future and Somali immigrants plundering various welfare programs for fun and profit, and top Minnesota politicians posing for photos with an illegal immigrant fraudster from Somalia. Experts agree that it would be racist not to rename the Minnesota Vikings as the Minnesota Somali Pirates. You and I, because we are so wise, are not surprised. We understand that, not later than the Roman Empire and its “bread and circuses,” corruption has been the very soul of a government program. Even philosophers agree. Eric Hoffer...

Russia is gaining territory in Ukraine at one of the fastest rates since the war began, new data show, ahead of an emergency Downing Street summit. The Kremlin’s army seized 200 square miles of territory in November, up from 100 square miles the previous month, according to DeepState, a trusted Ukraine-based battlefield map. The speed of advance was approaching the fastest since the initial invasion almost four years ago, the Institute for the Study of War, a US think tank, said

“‘Hear then the parable of the sower . . .’” (Matthew 13:18). The Bible is God’s written Word, but His Son is the Living Word who gives Scripture life. Christ told the Jewish leaders, “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me” (John 5:39). This parable centers on proclaiming the gospel and, perhaps more important, concerns the “heart soils” on which that truth, in seed form, falls as the sower preaches. Our Lord goes on to describe four such soils, representing four different hearts that hear the...

Ren Hatt, the mayor of Green River, died in a crash Friday night on U.S. Highway 6. “Our community is heartbroken today,” the city posted Saturday on its Facebook page. According to a news release from the Utah Highway Patrol, Hatt was headed east on U.S. Highway 6 about eight miles west of Green River, when a westbound semitrailer truck drifted into oncoming traffic. The semitruck collided with the Hyundai Palisade that Hatt was driving, killing him, UHP said. The semitruck driver was not injured, according to the release. Officials said they were not sure what caused the semitruck driver...

What It Is The Chevrolet Camaro was originally created as a Ford Mustang foil. History now appears ready to repeat itself as Chevy prepares to reintroduce the Camaro nameplate to the market. This time, we're hearing from our sources that we should expect the Bow Tie to resurrect the Camaro not as a coupe but as a fastback SUV aimed squarely at the Mustang Mach-E. That is, unless General Motors president Mark Reuss has his way and the Camaro makes its comeback as an electric car. But if it's an SUV, here's what we believe you can expect: Why It...
