Ren Hatt, the mayor of Green River, died in a crash Friday night on U.S. Highway 6.
“Our community is heartbroken today,” the city posted Saturday on its Facebook page.
According to a news release from the Utah Highway Patrol, Hatt was headed east on U.S. Highway 6 about eight miles west of Green River, when a westbound semitrailer truck drifted into oncoming traffic.
The semitruck collided with the Hyundai Palisade that Hatt was driving, killing him, UHP said. The semitruck driver was not injured, according to the release.
Officials said they were not sure what caused the semitruck driver to drift into Hatt’s lane, but the release said they do not suspect that the driver was impaired.

Hmmm. Almost makes you want to assume the driver is from a 3rd world country, with a fake drivers license.
Green River is a small town of about 1000 people and the last place to get gas for over 100 miles if you are westbound on I-70.
I would like to know more about the semi driver.
The irony would be great.
What I’ve noticed, though, is that politicians don’t care about issues until it affects them personally. THEN they’ll get all up in arms over something.
My guess is illegal with fraudulent CDL.
My guess is illegal with fraudulent CDL.

And can’t speak English or pass the CDL test.
“Almost makes you want to assume the driver is from a 3rd world country, with a fake drivers license.”
That was the first thing that came to my mind.
Isn’t it absolutely amazing that nothing much is said about the truck driver even if he was apparently the cause of the crash? Notice if I didn’t refer to it as an accidentas it has apparently not been determined if it was. That’s some super reporting on somebody’s part, but then, that may not have been an accident either.
I’m 100,000,000,000,000 (to the 100,000,000,000,000,000,000 power)% sure the semi truck driver was an illegal who can’t read English.
We will share more information when it becomes appropriate - the City’s Facebook account.
That fact alone indicates the truck driver is a member of the protected class.
"politicians don’t care about issues until it affects them personally"
..other than the ability to read and write English, and the illegal status of US citizenship. *presumably.
Who, what, when, where, why, how, and to what extent, are not longer part of journalism. The very first one is who. Who was the driver? This is not answered. So this is not journalism.
It’s not journalism, it’s propaganda.
Or understand that seeing the back side of all the road signs means anything.
illegal drunk invader?
I think you drive through there if you go from Salt Lake to Arches National park.
Yes, we Americans are so intolerant, because we drive on the right side of the road, and the rest of those clowns drive on the wrong side of the road. As Greta says, how dare you drive on the right? For our insensitivity, we should all be severely beaten about the head and shoulders, by a wet noodle. /S
Another good reason to drive defensively with all vigilance. Keep an eye on every vehicle that could cause you injury or death. Be prepared to make an escape if need be. There are just too many people out there who have no business being behind the wheel.
