Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in Israeli attacks, with U.S. support, on Saturday. He was 86 years old. A plume of smoke rises following a reported explosion in Tehran on Saturday, February 28, 2026. Israel's defense ministry said it had launched a "preemptive strike" on Iran as sirens sounded in Jerusalem and people across the country received phone alerts about an "extremely serious" threat. Middle East conflict Iranian supreme leader killed in Israeli airstrike, source says
President Trump announced the Iranian leader's death on social media, saying Khamenei could not avoid U.S. intelligence and surveillance. A source briefed on the U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran told NPR earlier Saturday that an Israeli airstrike killed Khamenei.
During his 36-year rule, Khamenei was unwavering in his steadfast antipathy to the U.S. and Israel and to any efforts to reform and bring Iran into the 21st century.

He still has three sons, so far. :)
I thought we were rid of NPR.
Unless i missed it after having just read this article, not a mention of the recently slaughtered Persians. Sickening npr
Our intelligence on Iran has been awesome so far. That 48 hours to destroy their nukes was amazing.
Who will rise up to lead the Iranian people to a new life....a life without hate and fear.
Saddam had a couple...they were an awful mess in the end.
NPR is in mourning.
The reporting seems measured on this topic.
“a life without hate and fear.”
There’s so much payback and prosecution coming that there will be hate and fear for quite a while.
The leadership of Iran/Persia is now a total vacuum, that may or may not be filled in the next few days.
Patch the hole in the outer walls of the spaceship, cadet.
“Iran killed thousands of its citizens under Khamenei’s rule, including more than 7,000 people killed during weeks of mass protests that started in late December 2025,”
We need to take out the most senior generals and admirals, too. They would have the best chances of seizing power and continuing on with their crappy government.
LOL!
I was going to write the same thing....

Overnight, on President Trump’s orders, the Department of War commenced OPERATION EPIC FURY — the most lethal, most complex, and most-precision aerial operation in history.
The Iranian regime had their chance, yet refused to make a deal — and now they are suffering the consequences. For almost fifty years, Iran has targeted and killed Americans, always seeking the world’s most powerful weapons to further their radical cause. Last night, unlike any previous president, President Trump began dealing with this cancer.
We will not tolerate powerful missiles targeting the American people. Those missiles will be destroyed, along with Iran’s missile production. The Iranian navy will be destroyed. And, as President Trump has said his entire life, Iran will never have a nuclear weapon.
The United States did not start this conflict, but we will finish it. If you kill or threaten Americans anywhere in the world — as Iran has — then we will hunt you down, and we will kill you.
Our warriors are the best in the world, and they are fully unleashed to achieve our objectives. May God’s providence protect them in this vital mission.
I guess even NPR has to swallow its usual TDS bile on this one.
I have no Iranian background but this regime has been a hemmoroid on the earth since i was a teen. I’ll celebrate with dinner using an ex girlfriends Tadig recipe.
Three people to write a 1500 word article.
Oh..that’s why I missed ut...7k my ass...more like 25k or 35k.
He’s not dead. He had cosmetic surgery and was removed from the country. He’ll live the last of his days elsewhere. Unrecognizable, and of no consequence.
