A trans war has broken out on Capitol Hill after a Republican lawmaker proposed a measure that would block the first transgender member of Congress from using biological women's restrooms in the U.S. Capitol. Rep. Nancy Mace is pushing for the new rule ahead of the arrival of Congresswoman-elect Sarah McBride, who will take office in January as the first openly-trans lawmaker in the United States. McBride blasted Republicans after the proposal, claiming they were using it as a 'distraction' tactic. 'This is a blatant attempt from far right-wing extremists to distract from the fact that they have no real...

More than 100 perforated soft limestone pebbles uncovered at the early village site of Nahal Ein-Gev II, which is located near the Sea of Galilee, may have been used as spindle whorls to produce yarn or cord some 12,000 years ago, according to a Haaretz report. The village was inhabited by the Natufians, who lived in the southern Levant between 15,000 and 11,500 years ago. Talia Yashuv and Leore Grosman of Hebrew University explained that prior to the invention of the spindle whorl, fibers were twisted together manually in a long and laborious process. In contrast, using a spindle whorl...

I had little to do with the fall of the Berlin Wall 35 years ago. Like the billions who grew up with the monstrous structure, I thrilled to watch it get torn down by Germans on each side of it. And I celebrated the man responsible for the glorious sight, in journalism and fiction, although he was no longer President. Ronald Reagan brought down the Soviet Union with a singular vision which dispelled a 70-year-old belief — that the Cold War was the permanent status quo. He’d articulated it a decade earlier and shaken the world. “Here’s my strategy on...

They’re donning MAGA hats in cafes, celebrating on social media and flying Trump flags: Supporters of President-elect Trump in deep blue cities and states are no longer keeping it to themselves. Why it matters: Trump improved on his 2016 and 2020 margins in almost every state, including in most big, blue cities like New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. Many Trump voters in those cities saw his victory as validation, and are acting accordingly. Some residents of liberal enclaves tell Axios they've seen more Trump yard signs go up after the election than before it. And many supporters of Vice...

"This is another step up the escalation ladder, and no one knows where this is going," Rep. Michael Waltz, R-Fla., Trump’s incoming national security adviser, said on Fox News. "No one anticipated that Joe Biden would ESCALATE the war in Ukraine during the transition period. This is as if he is launching a whole new war," Ric Grenell, Trump’s former acting director of national intelligence, wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "Everything has changed now – all previous calculations are null and void. And all for politics." "On his way out of office, Joe Biden is dangerously trying to start WWIII...

President Donald J. Trump has won a commanding victory in the recent election--a clear MANDATE from the American People--and has earned the right to govern in a way that the People and our great Constitution demand. To the victor goes the spoils, as they say, and the spoils include putting together a super team that will help ensure that we Make America Great Again!

TALLAHASSEE — A controversial 2021 state law making it harder for people to vote by mail could complicate holding special elections to fill two Florida congressional seats after President-elect Donald Trump tapped Republicans Matt Gaetz and Mike Waltz to serve in his administration. The 2021 law included requiring voters to request mail-in ballots each election cycle, rather than every four years as was previously allowed. The Republican-controlled Legislature and Gov. Ron DeSantis approved the change after Democrats across the country relied heavily on mail-in ballots to help President Joe Biden defeat Trump in 2020. Trump this week set the stage...

What happens when an atmospheric river and a “bomb cyclone” happen at the same time? Unfortunately, millions of people living on the west coast are about to find out. Extremely high winds, massive amounts of rain, and blizzard conditions in the mountains are being forecast for the days ahead, but nobody is quite sure exactly how this extremely unusual weather event is going to play out.

On this very terrain, four years ago, I asserted that we can “never again” allow an election like 2020 to happen. I’m back to say that despite Trump’s near landslide, America’s election system is still broken. And the time to fix it is immediately, while President Trump has the wind at his back with a Republican Congress and the public on his side. You most clearly see a broken election system when the margins are extremely tight. We saw it in 2020 when approximately 40,000 votes in key states tipped the election, and not so much in 2024. But rest assured, the...

WILMINGTON, DE — After finding out how much money former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson made from his highly publicized Netflix exhibition fight, failed presidential candidate Kamala Harris announced plans to pay back her $20 million campaign debt by agreeing to fight Jake Paul early next year. With her campaign severely in the red following her lopsided loss to Donald Trump this month, Harris had been searching for quick and easy ways to pay down the remaining debt, making a prize fight against Paul an appealing option. "It's time for me to wipe that smug smile off Jake Paul's face...

The Democratic National Committee (DNC), the party that claims to champion workers’ rights, has left its own staff out in the cold. Permanent staffers were given a single day’s notice before being unceremoniously terminated—without severance. The DNC Staff Union took to X to air their grievances, stating, “One day’s notice, no severance—the DNC fights for workers, just not their own.” The irony is so thick you could cut it with a knife. This is the same party that campaigns on workers’ rights, union support, and economic justice. Yet when it comes to their own, the rules apparently do not apply....

I always try to pick a lighter subject for the last post of the day. Part of that it is the fifth or sixth post I will have written (this is my sixth), and part of that is that it's nice to end the day on a lighter note. Well, this is a pretty light post, although there is a serious point to it. We are now almost two weeks into the second Trump era, and despite the fact that Democrats are still trying to rig a few elections here and there, it's clear that Trump's victory has sunk in....

WASHINGTON — Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., introduced a resolution Monday that would ban transgender women from using female bathrooms in the Capitol just weeks before Democratic Rep.-elect Sarah McBride of Delaware is set to become the first out transgender member of Congress. The measure would prohibit any lawmakers and House employees from “using single-sex facilities other than those corresponding to their biological sex.” Asked by reporters whether her resolution was meant to target a marginalized person, Mace said, “Sarah McBride doesn’t get a say in this.” “This is a biological man trying to force himself into women’s spaces, and I’m...

This is in Tampa, Florida. I just came back from the superstore in my neighborhood. Making hay while the sun shines. The grocery markets are going to take pricing through the stratosphere and fleece everyone until Trump gets in on January 20. So what else could possibly motivate such a rise in prices at this particular moment, to this extreme extent? This is an absolute disgrace.

NEW YORK (PIX11) — The third victim of a random stabbing spree in Manhattan Monday morning has died, according to the NYPD. The two other victims, a 36-year-old construction worker, and a 68-year-old man who was fishing, died earlier Monday with multiple stab wounds to the abdomen, according to the NYPD.
