One X user asked: “What kind of government lets FEMA spend $640,000,000.00 on criminal illegal aliens in 2024 and now has no money to help Americans who lost everything from Hurricane Helene?” Musk replied: “Good question.”

Hurricane Helene demolished the notion there are places on Earth immune from climate change — an already shaky premise that was further discredited by widespread damage to Asheville, North Carolina, a so-called climate haven. Even so, experts say climate is a growing factor in many people’s relocation decisions. And some places do have lower comparative risks depending on the type of disaster. That can — and should — influence their decisions on where to move, they say. “There's no such thing as a climate haven,” said Jesse Keenan, a professor of sustainable real estate and urban planning at Tulane University....

According to the NZ defence force, HMNZS Manawanui first got into trouble at about 6:45pm on Saturday while it was conducting a hydrographic survey just one nautical mile from the shore of the island country. The exact cause of the grounding remains unknown, but it is understood the ship collided with the reef. The 75...

Usually, I don’t waste much time watching the presidential or vice-presidential debates; but on Tuesday I watched most of the vice-presidential debate between J.D. Vance and Tim Walz. I applaud Vance on a skilled performance. But I particularly want to comment today on the overt hostility that Vance faced from the moderators, which is unfortunately typical of the hostility of the corporate media toward all Republican candidates. If you watched some or all of the debate, you probably came away with a general impression of the moderators attempting to help Walz; but without a transcript it is difficult to remember...

In the aftermath of Iran’s attack on Israel on Tuesday night, Israeli officials claimed their defences had stood firm. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Iran had launched more than 180 missiles, but few details about the damage were released and the US’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, said the attack “appears to have been defeated and ineffective”. But as Israel prepares its retaliation, analysts believe those initial reports could have been misleading – and could change the calculus of Israel’s response if it fears getting into a bout of protracted “missile ping-pong” with Iran, especially should Tehran choose softer...

Once again, Wisconsinites will be asked to vote on whether or not to approve an amendment to the state constitution. And this time, it all comes down to one word. "It is consequential," Republican state Sen. Julian Bradley told News 3 Now at a conservative poll observer training. "There's a huge difference between every and only." Right now, section one of article III of the Wisconsin state constitution reads like this: "Every United States citizen age 18 or older who is a resident of an election district in this state is a qualified elector of that district." If passed, the...

US citizens are paying the price, both in blood and treasure, for uninvited guests — many of whom have repaid our kindness with violent, criminal behavior.Acting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Patrick Lechleitner revealed in a letter to Congress last week that 425,431 migrants with criminal convictions — which include charges such as rape, murder, assault, and drug possession — have been released into American communities. Lechleitner also noted that another 222,141 migrants who were allowed into the United States currently face criminal charges in U.S. courts. None of these individuals are currently in ICE custody. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Friday denied that the Biden regime was using FEMA funds to feed, clothe and shelter noncitizens, calling the allegation “categorically false.” The White House’s denial comes as FEMA whistleblowers came forward and alleged that the agency misappropriated funds. “Former President Trump is accusing the Biden administration of using FEMA funding to support undocumented migrants,” a reporter said during the White House press briefing. “How does the White House respond to that?” she asked. “I mean, it’s just categorically false. It is not true. It is a false statement,” Jean-Pierre replied. She referred to...

Deadly flooding from Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina has also disrupted the underground nests of yellow jackets, bees and other insects, causing them to swarm and sting people struggling to recover from the storm. It's caused such a surge in requests for medication to protect people allergic to stings that the the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is buying Benadryl and epinephrine injections to help fill requests through hospitals, emergency medical personnel and doctors. And the humanitarian aid group Direct Relief says it has sent more than 2,000 EpiPen injections to community health centers, clinics and...

Speaking anonymously to the British paper of record, a conscription officer from the city of Odesa said that some of his colleagues are often...
