After seeing Carter being wheeled outside yesterday on his 100th birthday I, being 70, couldn't help feeling some sympathy for him and some fear of being in the same situation somedays. He looked oblivious to his surroundings and maybe pretty miserable. I watched my sister deteriorate and die last May from complication's associated with Parkinson's disease over several years, especially in her last few months. She was very miserable and helpless to do almost anything for herself. If she had wanted to kill herself and end her early misery, she would have been helpless to do it on her own....

Nikki Haley talks with a caller about the factions of the Republican Party on her new SiriusXM program: "A lot of Americans wanted to see the change that Donald Trump brought in. But what you're seeing is the MAGA movement's doing what the Tea Party did. It's starting to fringe out, and they're caring about these one-off issues that wasn't something that was thought about. That's not all of MAGA, but you're seeing it kind of fringe out. And what's concerning is you're seeing certain MAGA people not like other Republicans. And so MAGA doesn't like moderate Republicans. They don't...

Melania Trump has done her best to stay out of the spotlight throughout her husband’s presidential tenure and political career. Now, in a memoir titled Melania set to be published a month before election today, she has openly chosen a side in America’s abortion wars. The Guardian obtained a copy of the memoir, and published the former—and possibly future—First Lady’s pro-abortion declaration: It is imperative to guarantee that women have autonomy in deciding their preference of having children, based on their own convictions, free from any intervention or pressure from the government. Why should anyone other than the woman herself...

The Israelis have astounded the world in recent weeks with several unparalleled feats of wartime ingenuity, most notably the explosion of thousands of pagers that belonged to high-level Hezbollah operatives. Topping even that was the elimination of arch-terrorist and media darling Hassan Nasrallah of Hezbollah, who had been in hiding for nearly two decades and was in a bunker sixty feet underground when the Israelis found a way to take him out. One Muslim cleric in Iran, however, is certain that the Israelis’ success can’t be ascribed to their ingenuity; he thinks they had some help. Help, that is, of...

When you're in the mood for a truly decadent sandwich, a French dip is a good bet. This moreish sandwich features thinly sliced or shaved roast beef piled high in a French roll. The sandwich is dipped in a broth-like gravy called au jus that's made from the juices of the roasted meat. Dunking the sandwich in the au jus softens the bread and adds even more rich beefy flavors.

Hillary Clinton has told the BBC that Joe Biden was right to stand aside in the US presidential election after his stumbling debate performance against Donald Trump earlier this year. "Once that debate happened, he could not recover and he did the right thing," she told Radio 4's Today programme. She also said Democrats had not been effective in telling Trump supporters what they were doing to address their economic concerns. In 2016, the former US secretary of state was unexpectedly defeated by Trump, who now faces Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in November's election, which polls suggest is extremely tight....

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) claimed Wednesday on CNN’s “Inside Politics” that Iran is in a stronger position “nuclear wise” because of the “failed policy of Donald Trump.” Pelosi said, “We want to avoid a bigger war. As you know, full well, that masterfully President Obama had a plan to reduce the capacity of the Iranians to produce a nuclear weapon. The next president in line, he came in and eliminate it that unfortunately, because now Iran is on a path again for enriching uranium or fully taking it closer to having the capacity for a weapon.”

From today's decision by Judge John Mendez (E.D. Cal.) in Kohls v. Bonta: Plaintiff Christopher Kohls (aka "Mr. Reagan") is an individual who creates digital content about political figures. His videos contain demonstrably false information that include sounds or visuals that are significantly edited or digitally generated using artificial intelligence …. Plaintiff's videos are considered by him to be parody or satire. In response to videos posted by Plaintiff parodying presidential candidate Kamala Harris and other AI generated "deepfakes," the California legislature enacted AB 2839. AB 2839, according to Plaintiff, would allow any political candidate, election official, the Secretary of...

On Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “OutFront,” Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) said he worries that “Prime Minister Netanyahu is watching the American election as he makes decisions about his military campaigns in the north and in Gaza.” And “it is certainly a possibility that the Israeli government is not going to sign any diplomatic agreement prior to the American election as a means, potentially, to try to influence the result.” Murphy said, “Prime Minister Netanyahu is pursuing multiple objectives all at once, I don’t doubt that he cares about the security of Israel, but he seems to be guided, on many...

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Gov. Tim Walz during the Vice Presidential debate on Tuesday night revealed that his teenage son Gus had witnessed a shooting at a community center in St. Paul last year. "Look I got a 17-year-old and he witnessed a shooting at a community center playing volleyball. Those things don't leave you," Tim Walz said. He was referencing a shooting that happened in January of 2023 at the Jimmy Lee Rec Center, when an employee shot a 16-year-old boy in the head. Gus Walz was one of roughly 100 young people who were at the community center...

A deadly hurricane, a massive labor strike and wars raging around the globe are among the crises engulfing the Biden-Harris administration one month before the election. Former President Donald Trump is flipping the script on Democrats, who for months have warned voters that he would bring chaos if he returns to the White House.“It’s a choice between freedom and chaos,” Ms. Harris told her audience at a rally in Milwaukee this summer. Her argument isn’t resonating with voters as war erupts in the Middle East, illegal immigrants swarm across the southern border, and rural residents in Georgia and North Carolina beg...

…JuiceBox purveyor Enel X Way North America announced Wednesday that it is shutting down its United States charger operations. Drivers will no longer be able to use their phones’ apps to access JuiceBox charger devices at homes or out in public. The news means the end of app-based tools like scheduling charges, which are particularly useful for Californians seeking off-peak electricity prices, and features for checking charging statuses and histories. In other words, they’re losing their “smart” status. JuiceBox customers took to Reddit’s r/electricvehicles forum to complain about the company and express their confusion. “My concern is how things like...

Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff reportedly paid $80,000 in “hush money” to his former nanny as part of a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) but was not prosecuted, unlike Trump. Former President Donald Trump was prosecuted in New York and convicted on 34 counts for failing to list NDA payments to porn star Stormy Daniels (a.k.a. Stephanie Clifford) as campaign expenses (he denies the affair). The UK Daily Mail revealed in August that Emhoff’s first marriage broke up because of his affair with the family nanny, whom he allegedly impregnated. The affair was hidden during Harris’s Senate and presidential campaigns.

Suspects’ tattoos and social media posts indicate possible ties to a violent Venezuelan gang. The two Venezuelan men accused of the brutal murder of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray in Houston are being investigated for possible links to the transnational criminal organization Tren da Aragua.. In June, 22-year-old Johan Jose Martinez-Rangel and 26-year-old Franklin Jose Peña Ramos — both of whom were unlawfully in the United States — allegedly lured Nungaray under a bridge after she stopped at a convenience store. The males, who were charged with capital murder for her death, allegedly stripped her, bound her wrists and ankles, and sexually...

@charliekirk11 I was just sent this clip with the caption: "Damn he's good." Yes, JD Vance is very good at this.

Special counsel Jack Smith laid out new evidence to support his assertion that Donald Trump’s efforts to subvert the results of the 2020 election were taken as a private candidate, rather than his official capacity as the president, in a much-anticipated 165-page filing unsealed Wednesday that detailed Trump’s private interactions with his vice president and others. The filing described what the then-president told key figures in his orbit, including vice president Mike Pence, attorney Rudy Giuliani and senior White House and Republican Party officials, though it shielded some of their names. It also detailed what Trump was doing on Jan....
