Hurricane Helene (1958) became a hurricane on Sept.24th. and reached category 4 strength on Sept. 26.
Hurricane Helene (2024) became a hurricane on Sept.24th. and reached category 4 strength on Sept. 26.
What are the odds of that happening?
“A Charleston woman was named after it”
Lemme guess - they named her “Hurricane.”
That’s 66 years ago.
OP Comment: “Hurricane Helene (1958) became a hurricane on Sept.24th. and reached category 4 strength on Sept. 26. ... “
Zero. It reached category 4 strength on the 27th.
Btt
My momās name is Helene. Iāll be seeing her in a couple days and giving her anew nickname.
The hurricane name go by the alphabet, so Helene is 8the hurricane in the season. Since season starts every year the same, the 8th hurricane should come pretty close to the same date, as in this case.
But, what is shows, that this season is not really that exceptional.
In another world, the global warning is a hoax!
There are many interesting studies, which show that the global warming does not affect Hurricanes. It may actually hinder them!
More damage is caused because there are more buildings and residents to be affected, and bigger hurricane counts is because we have the tools to observe more of them.
Many hurricanes never make it to the shores, and in the old times, the may not be observed and counted. Now, we can see them and count them!
That is the main reason for “increased hurricane activity”, not the global warming.
It was not the name that makes it notable.
It took 11 cycles (66 years)for that t0 occur.
Will it repeat itself again in another 66 years?
Just for the record tropical storms are also named now from the same 6 lists of 21 names that rotate every year, so it would repeat every 6 years. Helene may or may not be used until 2030, depending on the number of tropical storms & hurricanes that arise in 6 years from now.
Just an interesting fact.
Thanks a lot for the info. Very interesting.
My little point was that the odds of cat 4 hurricane named Helena on the same date are not that bad, assuming that the climate did not changed much!
There are all kind of solar and other cycles going on. Maybe, there is 66 year cycle of hurricanes? I do not have an idea, but everything is possible.
Lol!
Again, it was not about the name, it was the dates that I pointed out.
HURRICANE HELENE -- Frequency Transmission with DANE WIGINGTON
They cycle through the same names every 6 years. If a storm is particularly bad, the name is retired and replaced.
Hmmm....would they ever retire a name like Hurricane Delta?
Why did they skip over Q, U, X, Y, Z?
What’s wrong with Quentin, Ursula, Xiaoping, Yolanda, Zelda?
As far as why the last 5 letters of the alphabet are not used, I have no clue, unless it has something to do with the preponderance of available names to pick from in the first 21 letters of the alphabet, and that the list of names even grows faster there than they do in the last 5 letters.
But that is strictly a guess.
There have been:
As of 2024, 96 storm names have been retired. starting from from the 1950s
Pacific cyclone names, there have only 17 names retired.
So, if hurricanes are due to climate change, why are there so few storms happening in the Pacific Ocean
"THEY CAN'T AFFECT A HURRICANE...RIGHT?"
"Weather Warfare" (History Channel, 2009) explained in detail how HAARP could modify weather & cause earthquakes. Imagine what they can do now!
They tried to scrub this from the internet, but I found it.
Thanks, very interesting. I have never heard about this.
One of those compelling information aspects is the lithium deposit in North Carolina, where Helene just happened to stall over & destroyed everything that all those who were living on that very prosperous landmass had. Now we also find that not only do Blackrock & Vanguard have large holdings in that company, but also we now learn Doug Emhoff does also, you know Kamala's husband who has been accused of bettering his former girlfriend. If Kamala is elected president, she will be the one to decide if the government exercises eminent domain to seize that property. What do we think her decision will be? Hmmm, tough decision, don't you think.
There is a lot to say for the saying; follow the money.
