This week’s cold snap across the U.S. will be one of “the most impressive Arctic outbreaks of this century,” one climate scientist says. After months of record-breaking warm temperatures, much of the U.S. is facing a harsh, fast-approaching blast of frigid air from the Arctic that could plunge wind chill factors below zero degrees Fahrenheit (–18 degrees Celsius)—all close on the heels of a serious winter storm dumping snow over the Midwest and Great Lakes this weekend. “It will be a very impressive—certainly one of the most impressive Arctic outbreaks of this century anyway,” says Judah Cohen, a climate scientist...

New Hampshire Republican Attorney General John Formella recently sent a cease-and-desist order to the Democratic National Committee, WBTS reported. Formella accused the DNC of making "false, deceptive, and misleading" comments regarding the state's presidential primary election. In the AG's order, he referred to a letter the DNC's Rules and Bylaws Committee sent to New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley, instructing Democrats to "educate the public" that the state's election is "meaningless." DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee co-chairs Minyon Moore and James Roosevelt Jr. wrote in the letter, "The [New Hampshire Democratic Party] must take steps to educate the public...

Talk is heating up again about “Big Mike” Obama being the Democrats’ choice to replace Joey the Scapegoat when they finally pull the plug on his sham presidency. Arguments against that possibility always seem to focus on Michelle’s glaring lack of qualifications, but they miss the point that that IS the point – everyone will know that it’s all a charade to put Barack back in the White House (in person this time and not via his drooling avatar, Joe.) It also won’t hurt “her” chances among the Groomer generation of Dem voters that the Joan Rivers “curse” still casts...

A group of just over a dozen House Republicans helped bring the chamber to a screeching halt on Wednesday in yet another stand against leadership. Thirteen GOP lawmakers joined with all voting Democrats to help defeat a resolution that would have allowed consideration of a trio of measures that were scheduled for debate this week. Votes for the rest of the day got cancelled. “The House is essentially frozen again. The GOP leadership cannot bring up any bills that are not already noticed on the suspension calendar. and conservatives just killed leadership’s ability to bring up any bills under a...

Oregon officials contacted a family to let them know that their relative had been found dead from a drug overdose, but months later, they admitted they had made a mistake. On Sept. 11 the family of Tyler Chase was told that he had died and the body was cremated on Oct. 1. The Multnomah County Medical Examiner's Office issued a death certificate after identifying him. The family received the ashes of someone whom they believed was their relative. Three months later, on Dec. 19, officials told the family that they had made a mistake and that Chase was still alive....

Federal abuses of power outweigh the acts of those who breached the Capitol on January 6. The riot on January 6 at the Capitol had a lot of FBI informants involved. According to Steven D’Antuono, formerly in charge of the FBI’s Washington field office: The FBI had so many paid informants at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, that it lost track of the number and had to perform a later audit to determine exactly how many “Confidential Human Sources” run by different FBI field offices were present that day ... More recently, some reports indicate that there were at...

Democrats in the Washington State legislature began this year’s session by targeting gun rights by attempting to classify ammunition as a “privilege” to subject it to a tax. House Bill 2238, which is sponsored by Democratic State Reps My-Linh Thai and Liz Berry imposes an 11 percent sales and use tax on ammunition in Washington on top of sales, local, state, and federal taxes in an attempt to reduce "gun violence." Berry previously worked for former US Representative Gabby Giffords as her Legislative Director when the congresswoman was shot in 2011. Instead of having the right to purchase ammunition, Democrats...

California Gov. Gavin Newsom thinks the Constitution should be amended to accommodate the gun regulations he favors. But in the meantime, he is trying out a different strategy: If we ignore the Second Amendment, maybe it will go away. In 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the right to carry guns in public for self-defense, saying states could not require residents to demonstrate a "special need" before allowing them to exercise that right. Newsom responded to what he called a "very bad ruling" by backing a new law that makes carry permits easier to obtain but nearly impossible to use....

Donald Trump made history Saturday as he prepares to romp in Monday’s long-awaited Iowa Caucus. The final Iowa Caucus poll by the Des Moines Register shows Donald Trump at 48 percent, a whopping 28 percent higher that the nearest challenger. His lead represents the most lopsided advantage in the final pre-caucus poll in the history of the Register‘s iconic projection. The poll suggests Trump will make further history Monday. The current record for the biggest margin of victory by a Republican in the caucuses is Bob Dole’s 12-point win over Pat Robertson in 1988. “Our grassroots supporters have put us...

The “Chief Diversity Officer” at Johns Hopkins Medicine has already retracted, disavowed and apologized for a privilege “hit list” that scapegoated white people, heterosexuals, Christians, men, and others in a newsletter that went viral this week. The X account @EndWokeness on Wednesday drew attention to a “Diversity Word of the Month” article in the January 2024 issue of Monthly Diversity Digest from the school’s Diversity, Inclusion, and Health Equity (DEI) office, headed by Chief Diversity Officer Dr. Sherita H. Golden. “John Hopkins just sent out this hit list of people automatically guilty of ‘privilege’ whether they know it or not,”...

A disturbing number of suicides are sweeping America's party-obsessed ski towns, raising the alarm over why so many residents in vacation hotspots are taking their own lives. Often dubbed the 'paradise paradox' by mental health experts, high-altitude party towns in the Rockies are seeing record numbers of suicides that stand in stark contrast to the picturesque lifestyle they claim to offer. Factors leading to the rise include the transient way of life on the slopes, financial instability, isolation from cities, and a lack of decent mental healthcare investment from tourism-focused local governments. As Victoria Mendoza, a 17-year-old resident of Grand...

Gen. McCLELLAN on the 4th of August, 1861, addressed to the President the following memorandum prepared at his request: The object of the present war differs from those in which nations are usually engaged, mainly in this: That the purpose of ordinary war is to conquer a peace, and make a treaty on advantageous terms. In this contest, it has become necessary to crush a population sufficiently numerous, intelligent and warlike to constitute a nation. We have not only to defeat their armed and organized forces in the field, but to display such an overwhelming strength as will convince all...

Two U.S. Navy SEALs are missing off the coast of Somalia after having fallen into the water during a nighttime boarding mission on Thursday, according to two U.S. officials. The officials said that the SEALs had fallen into the water one after the other during the boarding of a vessel by boat in the Gulf of Aden. It was unclear what had prompted them to board the vessel. For SEALs, it is standard protocol to jump into the water to rescue a fellow SEAL when they fall overboard, said a U.S. official. Search operations for the missing SEALs are continuing,...

Tennessee Ernie Ford sang it best with his hit “16 Tons.” Where he warbles the line “I sold my soul to the company store. Well, Disney and Universal aren’t planning old coal-mining company stores … yet … but they are getting into the housing market. Orlando, Florida, is on the front line of an industry trend as major employers like Universal and Disney look to close the area’s workforce housing gap. For visitors, Universal Studios Florida offers a chance to visit a fantastical land full of wizards, Minions and various characters from NBC Universal’s many film and television properties. But...

It’s hard to recapture the contempt with which Reagan was excoriated by the best and the brightest, but it was just as visceral and widespread as the animus against Trump in 2016 and today. The 2024 presidential election is still more than 10 months away, but already there is a lot of déjà vu all over again about the festivity. The smart money—which does not, I hasten to add, mean that it will turn out to be the most accurate money—has been telling us for months that wily Democrats have engineered Trump’s nomination because, clever chaps that they are, they...
