Oh, not yet. Regular Russian army formations still battle on the lines in the Donbas and near Kherson. Vladimir Putin ordered a new blast of missile attacks on Ukrainian cities last night as well. Putin still holds Crimea. However, the rebellion of Yevgeny Prigozhin and the Wagner Group and their strategic execution have made it impossible for Russia to maintain its occupation, let alone win a war. (snip) I won’t recap the specifics of Prigozhin’s actions, but the key to this — as Prigozhin apparently realized too — was Rostov (or Rostov-on-Don, if you prefer). After the Ukrainians won the...

Politically, the rank-and-file voters tend towards conservative values (although there is a hefty, and growing, liberal segment). So imagine my surprise the other day when I read that Chattanooga is one of the first two cities in the U.S. slated to become one of the World Economic Forum’s “15-minute cities.” As you surely know, the World Economic Forum (WEF) is Klaus Schwab’s globalist fantasy, the realization of which means we peons will ‘own nothing, and be happy.” In short, it’s Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, updated.

Today Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu made an announcement that has not yet been carried in Western media but which is of the most grave nature. According to the latest intelligence reports, Russia believes that the Ukrainian armed forces now intend to cover their failed counter-offensive in the Donbas by using US-supplied Himars multiple launch artillery and UK-supplied Storm Shadow cruise missiles, possibly in the longer range domestic version, to attack the Crimea. If this happens, says Shoigu, Russia will consider both the United States and Britain to have fully entered the war as co-belligerents. And Russia will immediately respond...

A Harvard Business School professor has been placed on leave amid accusations that she fabricated data that underpinned multiple peer-reviewed studies. Behavioral scientists, including Leif Nelson, analyzed some of the studies co-authored by Harvard professor of business administration Francesca Gino. They found signs that data used in at least three of the studies was fabricated to support the authors’ hypotheses, including data used in a study that has already been retracted. One of the studies posited that being dishonest could lead to creativity. Participants took part in a virtual coin toss. They could cheat during the coin toss. Participants were...

Former Yale University volunteer and researcher Bandy Lee has lost yet another lawsuit against the school in relation to the non-renewal of her agreement with her. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a prior ruling that found Yale acted lawfully when it decided not to renew an agreement with Lee, who had an unpaid role at the Ivy League university. Lee (pictured) has not “adequately alleged a promise that Yale would not decline to renew her appointment on account of her public statements,” the three-judge panel ruled. The decision went on to review Lee’s claims and explain why...

In 2013, Chicago closed 50 nearly empty schools. Since then, the CTU has barred charters and other schools from using these empty buildings to provide schooling options for local students. After railing against these school closures, CTU leadership locked students out of full-time, in-person learning for 17 months during 2020-21. For Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson to connect the public safety struggles of today to closing 50 virtually empty schools over a decade ago is particularly disingenuous, especially considering his peers at the Chicago Teachers Union kept students out of classes for 17 months. Many of the closed schools would not...

Vladimir Putin’s presidential plane left Moscow early Saturday, sparking rumors that he had fled the Russian capital as the Wagner Group’s mercenary forces advanced on the city. The president’s aircraft was spotted on flight radar flying northwest from Moscow to the St Petersburg area — but then disappeared from the system near the city of Tver, the BBC reported, where Putin owns a large rural retreat. Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied that his boss had turned tail amid the crisis, telling news agency TASS that he was “working in the Kremlin.”

Poland is investigating the deaths of dozens of cats and some of them have been linked to H5N1 bird flu, veterinarians reported on Friday. If confirmed, it would be the first time that avian influenza has affected cats in large numbers. Concerns were raised on Sunday when a veterinarian in western Poland reported the death of a cat which suffered from neurological and respiratory symptoms. Since then, dozens of suspected cases have been reported in different parts of the country. The General Veterinary Inspectorate confirmed on Friday that a number of samples from the Tri-City region in northern Poland had...

The director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and several other top officials knew in early 2021 that vaccinated people were becoming infected with COVID-19, according to an email obtained by The Epoch Times. CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky told colleagues in the Jan. 30, 2021, missive that she had spoken with Dr. Francis Collins that morning “and one of the issues we discussed was that of vaccine breakthroughs.” “Breakthrough” refers to vaccinated people becoming infected. “This is clearly and [sic] important area of study and was specifically called out this week here,” Walensky added, providing...

"We have to find middle ground in 24 if we want to win over suburban women. We have to show that we care about women at the same time that we care about life, and I’m trying to show a path forward and how you do that.” Anchor Neil Cavuto said, “A six-week move, like what Governor DeSantis just did in Florida, does that go too far to you?” Mace said, “It goes too far, and what that Florida bill also did is it mandated reporting of rape to the state. The vast majority of Americans support some sort of...

In the face of its worst drought in centuries, California is finally getting around to regulating its groundwater use. As an agricultural economist who studies water regulation in California, I think this is a unique chance to change the way we price groundwater and protect this scarce resource. But I’m worried that we might not make the most of this opportunity. ****** SNIP ***** The good news is that more than 60 percent of the 102 submitted plans mention policies that will increase the cost of extracting groundwater. This is a huge change from the status quo. The bad news...

Ask a buyer why his company imports goods from Mainland China, and he will have good reasons. Plenty of good reasons. China has a very well-developed supply chain; your vendors can get finished goods made there efficiently, with locally sourced components, because they make all the components nearby too. You can find huge Chinese factories that are conveniently located, close to the seaports, close to the airports. You can buy finished goods made a few miles from the port, or you can buy components with which to make finished goods here in the USA, as so many other manufacturers have...
