A global scamming network has robbed ordinary investors of more than a billion dollars. First, you hear a phone ringing. An elderly man answers. The caller introduces himself as "William Grant", from the trading firm Solo Capitals. He says he has a "great promotion" to offer. The elderly man sounds vulnerable and confused. "I'm not interested, I'm not interested," he says. But William Grant is persistent. "I only have one question," he tells the old man. "Are you interested in making money?" Jan Erik, a 75-year-old pensioner in Sweden, is about to get scammed, again. The call was made from...

The politicization of everything is too high a price for the gay-rights advances of the 2010s.I sat in the Washington office of a major airline’s head of government relations, where we were joined by the top lobbyist for one of America’s largest hotel chains. It was 2013, and I was president of the gay conservative group Log Cabin Republicans. I had come to secure corporate support for the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which would have banned discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. Pressure from leading corporations, I correctly assumed, would push waffling Republicans to vote for the legislation. I sat...

For the first time in decades, education policy has become a major issue in a Republican presidential campaign. Last month, former President Donald Trump, a frequent critic of “radical left indoctrination,” declared that he would cut funding to schools espousing “critical race theory,” “transgender insanity” or “any other inappropriate racial, sexual or political content.” Trump was trying to outbid Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has vowed to curb “woke indoctrination” and the use of tax dollars to teach kids “to hate our country or to hate each other.” South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, another potential Republican presidential contender, calls...

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul wants to address her state's severe housing shortage by building more housing. But many of the wealthiest suburban communities around New York City aren't having it. Leaders and activists in towns and villages from Westchester to the Hamptons are denouncing Hochul's plan to boost the housing supply in New York City and its suburbs by 3% over the next decade. Hochul's New York Housing Compact would start to address the state's skyrocketing home prices and rents, aiming to build 800,000 new units and creating density, particularly near train stations, over the next 10 years. The...

Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) told CBS News in an interview on Tuesday that she believed Republican lawmakers were continuing to put the well-being of the National Rifle Association (NRA) over Americans and their families. Duckworth said, “We can right now today pass universal background checks. We could pass a ban on assault weapon ban. We could pass a ban on high-capacity magazines. Those last two things are the common denominators involved in mass shootings in this country.”

The nature of the map and the information it contained is not clear. But investigators have questioned a number of witnesses about it, according to the people with knowledge of the matter, as the special counsel...

After being correctly labeled as “US state-affiliated media” by Twitter, National Public Radio (NPR) announced on Wednesday its plans to forgo using the social media platform to post its slanted, left-wing “news” coverage. The ever-escalating fentanyl crisis in U.S. cities has been particularly acute in the Bay Area. It’s made for some interesting headlines as well, from reports that the head of San Jose’s police union ran an international fentanyl-dealing operation out of her home for years to Elon Musk calling for legalization. Among supporters of harm reduction, who point to the abysmal failure of the War on Drugs to do much beyond swell the U.S. prison population, the term “drug worker” is a suggested replacement for the term “drug dealer.” A Canadian drug-policy expert’s Twitter thread went viral among certain segments of...

If I hear Alvin Bragg say he takes crime seriously in New York because he arrested Trump I am going to lose my ever-loving mind. New York does NOT take crime seriously. Case in point: this man was out on bail after shooting at cops and then was arrested later for an execution-style shooting at a liquor store. Surveillance footage caught the man shooting another man inside of a liquor store in a senseless act of violence and the suspect the police brought in on Tuesday was just there a little while earlier when he was brought in for shooting...

General Mark Milley, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who once wanted to understand the imaginary “white rage,” will be stepping down this fall. It’s just in time for him as the Biden administration looks to go to war with China, Russia, and their allies with no money, open borders, a mentally challenged president, and a history of failures. Our military is the best, but the leadership is lacking. Appointed chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff by President Donald Trump, Milley will be retiring at the age of 65 as the nation’s highest-ranking member of the U.S....
