Long, but important read: Supreme Court considers Brunson v. Adams Friday, December 16, 2022 7:30 PM By Tim Canova Professor of Law and Public Finance Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law While there has been much public attention on the U.S. Supreme Court’s present consideration of the “independent state legislature” theory in Moore v. Harper involving North Carolina’s redistricting, that case would not immediately upend the 2020 presidential election. In contrast, a little-known case that appeared recently on the Court docket could do just that. The case of Brunson v. Adams, not even reported in the mainstream media,...

A high-fat diet may combat low platelet counts in the blood caused by chemotherapy, according to preliminary research. Low platelets trigger a condition known as thrombocytopenia. Chemotherapy-induced thrombocytopenia is a severe complication in patients with cancer. "We demonstrate that ketogenic diets alleviate chemotherapy-induced thrombocytopenia in both animals and humans without causing thrombocytosis," Xie added. In thrombocytosis, the body produces too many platelets. Platelets are the tiny sticky disc-like cells—part of the blood supply—that clump together to form blood clots. When chemo destroys platelets, the result is thrombocytopenia, which can be dangerous. Xie and colleagues found that a ketogenic diet can...

A Buffalo woman rescued a stranger who was stranded outside during the deadly snowstorm that has left at least 31 people dead. In a Facebook post and video on December 25, Sha'Kyra Aughtry said she found a man with special needs screaming for help on the street on the morning of December 24. Aughtry and her boyfriend decided to take the man — who has been identified as Joe White — into her home, bathing, feeding, and tending to his injuries. "I currently have a 64-year-old white man in my house," Aughtry said in the video, adding that the man...

It was a mob scene Thursday at Kirk Cameron's reading of his God-focused children's book at the Indianapolis Public Library — except this mob didn't do what mobs do; rather it was just smiles, cheering, and laughter all around. BRAVE Story Hour @BraveBooksUS This is a message to every library in the United States: In 137 years of the Indianapolis Public Library’s history, NEVER ONCE have they had over 2,500 people show up to a single event. UNTIL TODAY. Folks even sang "God Bless America": Brave Books — Cameron's publisher for his "As You Grow" children's book — earlier this...

Join with fellow FREEPERS to pray for AMERICA: For those in Authority in Government, Family, Military, Business, Healthcare, Education, Churches, and the Media. Sorry for the shameless vanity but some of you may be able to offer advice for my situation. God designed women to last longer than men, I think, because they are better at carrying on with life after loss of a spouse. My loving wife of 38 years left me almost two months ago and I still have trouble going out by myself for more than short errands. She was a wonderful, sweet and very traditional lady. She was also a solid conservative who once told me she would never, ever vote for a Democrat even if they were better qualified....

SANTA CRUZ — New details have emerged around organs found mysteriously discarded on Ocean Street last week, though several questions remained unanswered. Santa Cruz resident Ar’Mani McCoy told the Sentinel that on the morning of Dec. 15, she was returning home from a dentist appointment via a stop at Ferrell’s. Along the way, she spotted smeared blood below a heart, lying on the sidewalk. Nearby was a crushed paper cup and a plastic grocery store bag filled with blood and what turned out to have a liver inside. McCoy said her first response was that what she was seeing must...

“I am the innovator,” Little Richard once proclaimed, “I am the originator. I am the emancipator. I am the architect of rock ‘n’ roll.” From that bombastic moment onwards, it would seem that fighting talk was firmly part of the fabric of the genre. Music might be the great unifying force of our age, but several of its most famed proponents have certainly had a swing at orchestrating a one-way division from within. This is, after all, a world of egos, and egos are at the beck and call of subjectivity at that. Unlike sport, there’s no threat that you...

The Centers for Disease Control is one of a number of formerly-respected federal agencies that now have fallen into disrepute. CDC has become a tool of the Left in general, and the Democratic Party in particular, and it seems that the people who run the Centers are more interested in political activism than in disease control. Thus CDC’s latest initiative: a self-assessment tool for “LGBTQ Inclusivity in Schools.” (Via Breitbart.) The document is addressed to teachers, administrators and others involved in education. It conforms perfectly to far-Left dogmas on sex, as reflected in these definitions: I don’t want to go...

This week, Fox News host Tucker Carlson had a critique of the January 6 report: there was no mention of the supposed federal provocateur that the right held responsible for the whole event! Carlson was referring to Ray Epps, a former Oath Keeper who was caught on video on Jan. 5 urging the MAGA faithful to march on the Capitol, before wisely choosing not to enter on Jan. 6 itself. Epps has become the center of a right-wing conspiracy theory which casts him as Exhibit #1 supporting the idea that Jan. 6 was a “fedsurrection,” as some call it —...

The World Economic Forum has been quietly working on something called the ’15-Minute-City’, a plan, or shall we say scheme, that recently has advanced from the planning stage to the prototype stage, and this should concern you if you value your individual liberty and freedom. We have told you repeatedly, and so say we again now, there are more lockdowns coming only the reasons for them will change. COVID was a trial balloon to see if people would consent to being locked down, and guess what, they did. No stopping it now. 2023 is gonna be a crazy year. The...

At least 12 priests and five religious sisters were murdered during 2022 while fulfilling their mission. Nigeria was one of the most dangerous countries in which to serve the Church, but China, in Asia, and Nicaragua, in Latin America, also had many cases of harassment.According to information collected by Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), Nigeria was the country with the highest number of victims, with four priests killed. Others who were murdered while carrying out their pastoral duties include three priests brutally killed in Mexico by members of drug cartels and two who were shot in the eastern...

RAQQA, Syria ꟷ Following Monday’s deadly attack by terrorist organization Islamic State (IS) on a building of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria in Raqqa, killing 6 six, and given the overall tense security situation in the region, the Syriac Military Council (Mawtbo Fulhoyo Suryoyo, MFS) deployed extra troops around churches in Raqqa. MFS says on its official page that it has put its troops on high alert to confront new possible terrorist attacks. Important sights, including churches and monasteries, will receive additional security during the holidays. The MFS adds to assure the people in general and...

Given their abrupt suspension of accused priests, the bishops have eroded the theological density of the sacrament of Holy Orders. By so doing, they have undermined the very deposit of faith they seek to protect and transmit.A few weeks ago, the Catholic Project at The Catholic University of America released the results of a massive survey of Catholic priests in the United States. Priests interviewed numbered 3,500 from 191 American dioceses. Predictably—at least for those who have been paying attention—the results constitute a biting indictment of the American episcopacy. The most prominent finding of the survey is that a majority...

Pope Emeritus' condition stabilizes as Holy See discusses funeral protocolVATICAN CITY (ChurchMilitant.com) - Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI's funeral service will be marked by full papal honors granted at the behest of Pope Francis, senior officials in the Vatican bureaucracy have suggested. "It is clear that the Holy Father will ask that Benedict XVI's funeral be like that of a pontiff still reigning from the throne of Peter," Il Sismografo reported Thursday, as the Secretariat of State held meetings to discuss funeral arrangements "Obviously, the Holy Father has no other intention than — as Vicar of Christ, universal Shepherd of the...

A writer has put together all the studies about physical and mental differences between conservatives and leftists, and the results are clear (but hard to look at). There’s a new Substack site in town and, if a recent post about leftists’ biological underpinnings is anything to go by, this site will go far. The writer at Biopolitics has assembled all sorts of information about the mental and biological traits of being on the left and right sides of the political spectrum and reached an over-arching conclusion: Leftists are physically ugly and mentally unpleasant, although it remains unclear whether their biology...

1) This is just some random street in a busy shopping area in December in Dublin, Ireland. 2) These are average, randomly appearing Dublin women and girls. Of the dozens, I only saw 1 overweight woman. Many looked like models. 3) Impeccable sense of style, perfect hair, great skin unembellished by pock-marked drug usage signs, absence of tattoos on face/neck, no trashy clothes. 4) No weird purple haired trannies, no homeless people, no criminals, everyone in a good mood. Why such a contrast with our big cities on the west coast? What went wrong here? What is your experience elsewhere...
