...David Scott, a U of I freshman, lives in an apartment off campus. He told the Statesman he’s been looking into various self-defense options since the stabbings. Scott said it takes him about 30 minutes to walk to campus, which he usually does early in the morning before the sun rises. After attending classes and working a part-time job at the university, he heads back home, often when it’s already dark outside. In November, the sun sets at around 4 p.m. in Moscow. “I’ve always wanted to get a handgun,” Scott said. “But I haven’t really had a reason to...

There's been chatter for some time now about Sen. Mike Braun's (R-IN) next move. Braun was first elected in 2018, beating out one-term incumbent, then Sen. Joe Donnelly, a Democrat. Rather than run for reelection, though, it's looking more likely that he'll run for governor to replace term-limited Eric Holcomb, a Republican who's considered something of a RINO. As POLITICO's Adam Wren reported on Wednesday, Braun filed paperwork to run for governor on Tuesday. When it comes to who will fill Braun's seat, that could very likely be Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN), who there's been just as much chatter about....

The United Nations on Thursday issued its biggest ever call on the developed world to fund its emergency operations over the next 12 months, pinpointing the Ukraine conflict alongside other wars, climate challenges, famine, floods, Afghanistan relief, and the ever present coronavirus pandemic on its list of priorities. A record $51.5 billion is the targeted amount sought by the globalist organization for redistribution to causes it deems necessary.

Rifles, handguns, ammunition, even knives and grenades, have been handed in at 300 collection points across the country since the start of the Ministry of Interior’s campaign on Nov. 25.

NATIONAL PIE DAY Each year on December 1st, dessert lovers across the United States enjoy a slice of their favorite on National Pie Day. Pie is so delicious we celebrate it twice a year. The more popular date is January 23rd. #NationalPieDay While it might be the lesser of the two celebrated PIE days (don’t forget National Pi Day on March 14th), it happens to fall smack dab in the middle of a major pie-making season. Take away ice cream as a dessert choice, and most people are either cake people or pie people. Or, to put it another way,...

The incumbent representative Boebert leads by just 550 votes. Good morning everyone. Some weeks ago, I posted on the Daily Mail website that Ann Heche basically got what she deserved for being a drug user and ending up wrecking her car and dying from the burns suffered. I got a message saying I was permanently banned from posting on the website. I have been so busy at work that I haven't had time to respond here to the bunch over there. So, DM, you don't like what I have to write? You thought that no response would be possible since you banned me from the site. Well, you were...

If You Really Wanted to Destroy the United States, Then . . .It would be hard to imagine any planned agenda to destroy America that would have been as injurious as what we already suffered the last two years. First, you would surrender our prior energy independence. Reduce new gas and oil leases on federal lands to the lowest levels of any president in history. Cut back production at precisely the time the world is emerging from a two-year lockdown with pent-up consumer demand. Make war on coal and nuclear power. Drain the strategic petroleum reserve to make the pain...

HEADQUARTERS ARMY OF THE POTOMAC, Sunday, Nov. 30 -- 7 1/2 P.M. Some camps of the enemy, visible yesterday, disappeared last night. They probably have retired to the valley behind the range of hills in the rear of Fredericksburgh. New rebel earthworks almost daily make their appearance, and the range In the rear of the town is crowned almost continuously with redoubts and rifle pits. Some of our batteries, whose guns bear directly upon the town, have recently been protected by earthworks. Five gunboats are reported to have advanced up the Rappahannock opposite King George Court house. The right wing...

The American Left agrees with the suppression of liberty there and anywhere else. Why is the far Left on board with the suppression of liberty in China? The past few days have witnessed extraordinary events in Red China, with protestors literally risking their lives as they battle hazmat-clad riot police in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou. As Tucker Carlson noted in a recent video, unless you read some of the English papers, you wouldn’t know that Chinese President Xi Jinping had sent tanks to put down these protests. Even worse, the people who supposedly stand for liberty -- with...

Story at-a-glance: * A carnivore or meat-only diet can be uniquely beneficial for some people, especially those struggling with autoimmune diseases, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, chronic pain and mental health disorders * It can also be used as a detox strategy for three to 12 months * One of the primary benefits of a carnivore diet — as long as you focus on red meat and limit chicken and pork — is that it’s a really low in omega-6 fat, which is the most harmful type of fat and a primary driver of chronic disease * You’re also removing most...

The West’s increasing capitulation to authoritarianism may be more subtle but no less pernicious than China’s coercive lockdowns. Against the pulsating scenes of Shanghai police pummeling COVID-19 protesters in China, Iranian mullahs cracking down on Tehran's demonstrators, and the World Economic Forum’s supporting digital passports allowing governments to control the movement of people, the forces of authoritarian control are clearly on the march. Nor is this problem limited to East Asia or the Middle East. This issue directly implicates the West. Arising out of our cultural elites’ disdain for the concerns and values of the common folk, the West’s increasing...
