  • I Regret Being A Slut

I know regretting most of my sexual encounters is not something a sex-positive feminist who used to write a column for Playboy is supposed to admit. And for years, I didn’t. Let me be clear, being a “slut” and sleeping with a lot of men is not the only behavior I regret. Even more damaging was what I told myself in order to justify the fact that I was disposable to these men: I told myself I didn’t care. I didn’t care when a man ghosted me. I didn’t care when he left in the middle of the night or...

Congressional hearings are often-referred to as a show, political theater if you will. How ironic since that’s exactly what our entire government, media, and culture has become, a show. The production, ‘The Great Reset’ depicts a populace evolving to a perfect society, no hate, racism or sexism. Greedy oligarchs will be stripped of their ill-gotten gains, their riches distributed among the masses. And this society will not rape the earth for their fuel, it will go green, will rescue the planet. Yeah, right. Still as with any fiction, the audience (the American people) agrees to suspend disbelief in order to...

Clad in mismatched fatigues, Ukrainian Marine recruits sprawled on the grass, cocking their assault rifles and aiming at targets. Then, to the surprise of their American instructors, one by one they started squeezing the trigger. “Cease fire!” yelled Steven Tomberlin, 62, a retired police officer from Colorado overseeing this part of the training. “Until I give the command. You. Do. Not. Do. Anything.” When the firing resumed, bullets hit the dirt berm, often far off the mark. “Most of these people have just been mobilized. They were electricians or tractor drivers yesterday, and many have never held a weapon in...

For the first time, officials with the U.S. Department of Interior announced plans to operate in a “Tier 2 shortage,” Fox Weather reported. The plan includes increased cuts in water releases from Lakes Powell and Mead. The new mandatory water cuts come after Lake Mead and Lake Powell continue to reach record lows due to climate change. A megadrought and an increase in consumption from Lake Mead caused water levels to drop to an 80-year low. Satellite images show the decreasing water levels. pic.twitter.com/T5tc7zzmMD — FOX Weather (@foxweather) August 16, 2022
  • Rank Choice Voting and Mail-In Ballots Debut in Deep Red Alaska Where Democrat May Now Steal US House Seat from Sarah Palin

Republicans in Alaska passed rank choice voting in 2020. This confusing system is only being pushed by RINOS and radicals in conservative red states. It allows Democrats to even the playing field when they have no chance of winning. Republicans also passed mail-in voting. ..... Snip..... Last night Sarah Palin ran in two races in Alaska. The former governor ran in the 2022 primary race for US House of Representatives. She also ran in the special election to finish out Rep. Don Young’s term in the current US House of Representatives. Young died earlier this year. Sarah Palin may lose...

Rutgers University plans to keep its mask and vaccine mandate in place for the fall semester, citing risks of both the Chinese coronavirus as well as monkeypox. In a message to Rutgers Community Members, the university cited the risks of the Chinese coronavirus, which has now been around for over two years, as well as monkeypox, the latter of which poses the greatest risk to sexually active gay men.

The world could meet the iPhone 14 in less than a month. Apple is preparing to unveil the iPhone 14 at a launch event on Sept. 7, with sales of the rumored phone starting on Sept. 16, according to a report Wednesday from Bloomberg. That rollout plan would follow Apple's habit of making new products available about a week after they're unveiled. Apple store employees have been told to prepare for "a major new product release" on Sept. 16, Bloomberg reported. As it has throughout the pandemic, the company will reportedly stream the launch event online rather than hold it...

Former Vice President Mike Pence said Wednesday he would give “due consideration” to any formal invitation to testify before the House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol, while hinting at potential executive privilege issues.Pence made the remarks during a Q&A after a speech here at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics’ “Politics & Eggs” breakfast, a common stop for candidates considering a run for office.“If there was an invitation to participate, I would consider it,” Pence said, after calling January 6 a tragic day for all Americans. “But, you heard me mention the Constitution...
  • Adjustable gas plug: M1 Garand

I'm looking for feedback regarding adjustable gas plugs for an M1 Garand. M2 Ball and equivalents, like most other ammo, isn't all that easy to come by but I've been able to find plenty of 150gr 30-06 though it's generally at higher pressures than M2. My understanding is that an adjustable gas plug will allow me to dial in adjustments for modern, higher pressure ammo, heavier bullet weights, etc. If anyone has experience with, and recommendations regarding, these plugs I'd be happy to hear them.

Pavel Filatyev knew the consequences of what he was saying. The ex-paratrooper understood he was risking prison, that he would be called a traitor and would be shunned by his former comrades-in-arms. His own mother had urged him to flee Russia while he still could. He said it anyway. “I don’t see justice in this war. I don’t see truth here,” he said over a tucked-away cafe table in the Moscow financial district. It was his first time sitting down in person with a journalist since returning from the war in Ukraine.

US Commerce Department can make all the noise it wants about limiting tech exports to China, but it is reportedly doing little to actual stem the flow of components and equipment. The Wall Street Journal said on Tuesday that efforts by Uncle Sam to prevent key technologies from falling into the hands of rogue foreign powers — China in particular – may not be having the intended effect. In all, 2,652 export licenses for restricted tech to China were granted by the Commerce Dept in 2020, 94 percent of the total requested. The newspaper reported that of the $125 billion in exports...

Blackouts are growing more frequent in the United States. The average American experienced just over eight hours of power outages in 2020, with overall duration of power interruptions in the U.S. more than doubling since 2015, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. "This is not because the grid has changed, but because there is so much greater threat from extreme weather," said Alison Silverstein, an independent consultant at the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy. "And the number of extreme weather events of every kind have increased significantly over the last decade, in particular." Despite the Biden administration's effort...

new survey found that 20% of EV drivers visited a charging station without charging their car, due to issues with charging hardware. Range anxiety and the hassle of charging pose major roadblocks to EV adoption. The J.D. Power survey also shows electric car owners prefer Tesla charging stations. Electric cars are getting more popular, but lackluster charging options could turn some drivers away. A new survey from J. D. Power found that one in five electric car owners that visited a charging station ended up not charging their vehicle. Of the drivers that didn't charge their EVs, 72% said the...

HEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney was increasingly open on Wednesday about considering a 2024 presidential campaign after soundly losing a Republican primary to a challenger backed by former President Donald Trump. Speaking to NBC in the wake of her loss, the third-term congresswoman called Trump “a very grave threat and risk to our republic,” and said defeating him will require “a broad and united front of Republicans, Democrats and independents — and that’s what I intend to be part of.” She declined to say if she would run for president but conceded it’s “something that I’m thinking...

Liz Cheney lost her primary to Harriet Hageman by 37 points, making this the 4th worse incumbent loss since 1968. Embarrassing! This makes 8 out of 10 of the Republicans who voted to impeach Trump to lose and/or resign their seat.

It's famine or feast for American restaurants right now. Establishments in deep-blue cities that faced both excessive COVID-19 restrictions plus violent protests in 2020 are starved for diners, according to global data. The same source shows that Sun Belt boomtowns in Florida, Texas and Arizona are busier than ever and enjoying a massive surge in restaurant business this year. The divide between the two is startling. The number of daily diners in the city of Minneapolis was down an average of 54.3% in July — so the city had less than half the number of people eating out, compared with...

  • Scientists Achieved Self-Sustaining Nuclear Fusion… But Now They Can't Replicate It

Scientists have confirmed that last year, for the first time in the lab, they achieved a fusion reaction that self-perpetuates (instead of fizzling out) – bringing us closer to replicating the chemical reaction that powers the Sun. However, they aren't exactly sure how to recreate the experiment. Nuclear fusion occurs when two atoms combine to create a heavier atom, releasing a huge burst of energy in the process. It's a process often found in nature, but it's very difficult to replicate in the lab because it needs a high-energy environment to keep the reaction going. The Sun generates energy using...

Following her humiliating defeat in Tuesday’s Wyoming primary elections, soon-to-be-former Rep. Liz Cheney gave one of the most comically narcissistic speeches by a politician in recent memory. Despite losing to Trump-endorsed Harriet Hageman by more than 30 points, Cheney thought it was fitting not only to forecast a potential run for president in 2024 but to do so while comparing herself to former President Abraham Lincoln. “The great and original champion of our party, Abraham Lincoln, was defeated in elections for the Senate and House before he won the most important election of all,” she said before an audience of...
