Minneapolis dominates Minnesota's Fifth Congressional District, but the district is also home to three-quarters of a million residents, about half of whom live in first-ring suburbs. A new Israeli law will go into effect on Monday prohibiting cash payments of over $1,760 (6,000 New Israeli Shekel NIS) in cash or bank checks for transactions between a person and a business. The ceiling for transfers between private individuals will be $4,400 (NIS 15,000) instead of the current amount, almost $14,700. Since January 2019, Israeli businesses and consumers have been subject to limits on cash payments under the Law for the Reduction in the Use of Cash. A former high level Russian official who left President Vladimir Putin’s government was suddenly hospitalized after suffering a serious and rare neurological condition, CNN reported. Anatoly Chubais is currently in a hospital in Europe suffering from Guillain-Barré syndrome, which his wife told Russian journalist and TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak he abruptly came down with. Russia’s population shrank by a record average of 86,000 people a month between January and May, state statistics agency Rosstat has said. The rate of Russia’s population decline has almost doubled since 2021 and nearly tripled since 2020, according to The Moscow Times’ Russian service.

The Sinclair oil refinery is laying off 87 employees. Thirty-two workers at the southern Wyoming refinery, one of the largest in the region, have already been laid off.
