City officials announced on Monday that they would be easing the lockdown after a tremendous public backlash. From now on, they would be grouping residential units into three risk categories as a step towards allowing “appropriate activity” for those who live in neighborhoods with...

We envision a Nebraska where every life is cherished, valued, and protected,' the Nebraska Family Alliance declared in support of the bill.LINCOLN, Nebraska (LifeSiteNews) – After eight hours of debate on Wednesday, the Nebraska legislature failed to pass a pro-life “trigger” law that would have banned abortions in the Cornhusker State were Roe v. A Washington Post columnist suggested on Monday that President Biden could solve the mounting inflation crisis by rolling back border restrictions and allowing more immigrants to enter the United States. In an oped titled "Democrats are missing the bigger immigration issue," Washington Post columnist and CNN commentator Catherine Rampell scolded moderate Democrats for attempting to block President Biden from lifting existing Title 42 immigration restrictions without a plan in place amid an expected surge of migrants at the southern border. With the midterms fast approaching, Rampell said Democrats should be less worried about allowing in too many immigrants, and more...

The World Health Organization is analyzing a few dozen cases of two new sub-variants of the Omicron strain to determine how infectious and dangerous they might be, according to Reuters. The agency said it added BA.4 and BA.5 to its monitoring list because of their "additional mutations that need to be further studied to understand their impact on immune escape potential,” Reuters said. All versions of Omicron have proven to be highly transmissible. The BA.2 subvariant now represents about 94% of all sequenced cases but does not appear to cause severe disease, Reuters said. Last week, the CDC said BA.2...

Some colleges and universities in New York City have reinstituted mask mandates amid a rise in COVID-19 cases. Columbia University, the affiliated Barnard College and Pace University have all started requiring masks again in at least some indoor settings. Columbia reinstated mask rules on Monday “based on the current situation and in an abundance of caution,” according to school communications obtained by The Post. The policy, which requires students to wear non-cloth masks, is expected to remain in place through the final weeks of the spring semester. Instructors, however, still have the option to remove their masks while teaching. The...

Gov. Kathy Hochul rushed to the microphones Tuesday to reassure New Yorkers following the Brooklyn subway shootings. She should’ve stood in bed. Out tumbled a jumble of half-thoughts, unfocused and haltingly delivered, underscoring what has been apparent for some time now — which is that New York’s latest accidental governor would be out of her depth in a Buffalo mud puddle. Which, in a manner of speaking, is where she came from. Hochul’s horrible day also included news that her handpicked, staunchly defended lieutenant governor, Brian Benjamin, had just been arrested on federal corruption charges. Benjamin would be gone by...

At a press conference, Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) said, “The entire state of New York stands with the people of the city, this community, and we say no more. No more mass shootings. No more disrupting lives. No more creating heartbreak for people just trying to live their lives as normal New Yorkers. It has to end. It ends now.”

Ukrainian Marines trying to defend the city of Mariupol from the onslaught of the Russian army says they've been fighting for more than a month without resupply of ammunition, food and water – but now the "mountain of wounded makes up almost half of the crew." The dire warning from the 36th Navy Brigade, which was posted to Facebook on Sunday, suggests cracks are starting to form in Ukraine’s fierce defense of Mariupol. "From the beginning... we have been defending Mariupol for 47 days," the Marines wrote. "We were bombed from airplanes, we were shot from artillery, tanks and other...

Covid cases in the Northeast are increasing again, which has some people worried about yet another surge. This is also one of the most heavily vaccinated parts of the country. While the Covid vaccines have been very effective at stopping hospitalization and death, it’s now clear they haven’t ended the pandemic. And yet the scientists I spoke with in the early part of 2021 were nearly unanimous in thinking they would end the pandemic through herd immunity. Why did they get it so wrong? Two major reasons: First, scientists vastly underestimated the ability of the virus to mutate quickly. And...

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. (CBS46) - Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed a bill Tuesday making it legal to carry a gun in public without a permit. “SB 319 makes sure that law abiding Georgians, law abiding Georgians, including our daughters, and your family too, can protect themselves without having to have permission from your state government. The Constitution of the United States gives us that right, not the government,” said Gov. Kemp, (R) Georgia. The governor signed the so-called Constitutional Carry Act into law Tuesday afternoon at a gun store in Douglasville. “The logic that if we put more guns on the...

Despite a City of Calgary injunction designed to significantly curb anti-vaccine mandate demonstrators' capacity to protest remaining in place for the fourth consecutive week, people were once again out in the hundreds at Calgary City Hall, demanding that the Charter-enshrined rights and freedoms of all Canadians be respected. Police presence was still noticeable, but it was significantly lessened compared to the prior weekends’ rallies. We did notice some peace officers noting the licence plates of people driving near the protest and laying on the horn, but unlike the three previous protests that took place since the onset of the injunction,...

Bishops sign letter warning that Germany's 'Synodal Path' could lead to schismMore than 70 bishops from around the world have released a "fraternal open letter" to Germany's bishops warning that sweeping changes to Church teaching advocated by the ongoing process known as the "Synodal Path" may lead to schism. The letter expresses "our growing concern about the nature of the entire German 'Synodal Path,'" which the signatories say has led to confusion about Church teaching and appears focused more on man's will than God's.“Failing to listen to the Holy Spirit and the Gospel, the Synodal Path’s actions undermine the credibility of...

Pennsylvania pharmacists want state lawmakers to allow them and trained staff members to continue providing the full range of childhood vaccinations. They’ve been doing so since early in the COVID-19 pandemic, when a federal emergency order allowed them to vaccinate children 3 and older. One purpose was to make sure children had full access to vaccinations during a time of lockdowns and disruptions to health care. And since COVID-19 vaccine became available in early 2021, Pennsylvania pharmacists have safely given about 7 million vaccine doses, including nearly half of doses given to children 5-11, according to pharmacists. Several hundred pharmacists...
