Morning Joe on Tuesday ripped into Ron DeSantis for perceived Covid sins. Washington Post editor and MSNBC analyst Eugene Robinson said Republican Florida Governor DeSantis' prohibition of localities mandating masks, and talk of withholding the pay of school officials who try to mandate them, was "criminal." Mike Barnicle passionately agreed, saying that DeSantis is "going to roll the dice with children’s lives . . . under the guise of ambition, his political ambition, running for higher office, AKA the presidency." No word from the Morning Joe crew on the dangers posed to Americans by the Biden policy of letting countless...

American drivers could soon trade paying taxes on gas at the pump for owing the government annual 'per-mile user fees,' under a new pilot program recently passed by the Senate in Joe Biden's $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure deal. The bill passed a Senate vote on Tuesday and will go on to the House of Representatives. The massive deal puts $125 million toward exploring the possibility of a federal vehicle miles traveled tax (VMT) by funding the launch of federal, state and local VMT pilot programs. It gives Transport Secretary Pete Buttigieg the ability to award grants to local and regional...

President Joe Biden’s $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill nears certain passage in the Senate with the blessing of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), even though he strongly opposed a trillion-dollar spending program proposed by President Donald Trump in 2016. “What I hope we will clearly avoid, and I’m confident we will, is a trillion-dollar stimulus,” McConnell said in December 2016 after Trump won the presidential election. Trump campaigned on the idea of massive infrastructure spending, a proposal that McConnell was not eager to endorse. “We need to do this carefully and correctly, and the issue of how to pay for...

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced his resignation on Tuesday under threat of impeachment, following the release of a scathing state Attorney General report in which investigators concluded that he sexually harassed several women in violation of state and federal law. “I think that given the circumstances, the best way I can help now is if I step aside,” Cuomo said from his Manhattan office. After disputing the report’s findings and apologizing for some behavior he insisted didn’t amount to sexual harassment, Cuomo said the wasted time and money from the impeachment process would hurt New Yorkers during a time of crisis....

Protesters gathered at Boulder County Public Health (BCPH) to make a statement against requiring masks in county schools. BCPH issued a public health order late Monday night that requires facial coverings in schools PK-12 and childcare settings. Public health officials said they would meet with the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) on Tuesday to discuss a decision on whether masks will be required in schools before classes start next...

When Chicago Police officer Ella French was murdered after a traffic stop on another bloody weekend in the city of anarchy, Mayor Lori Lightfoot made her “big speech.” Mayors always make “the big speech” when a police officer is killed in the line of duty. And the one Lightfoot delivered on Sunday was typical of others I’ve seen. It was somber and sought to bridge the divide between police critics and supporters and protect her own flanks. And it was deeply political, because she used it to cover her own flanks. But Lightfoot forgot an important part. She forgot to...

RICHMOND, VA—A local 5th-grade class started classes this morning by standing and reciting the pledge of allegiance to Dr. Fauci, as is now the cherished custom. "Ritual is important for a sense of security and normalcy, and also to ensure these kids swear their undying allegiance to Dr. Fauci, who is the living embodiment of science and our hope for the future," said 5th-grade teacher Mrs. Scuttlebumm. "We will start every day this way until science hears us and saves us all." With their hands over their hearts, the class recited the pledge together in perfect monotone unison: "I pledge...

For the next five years, an Oregon high school diploma will be no guarantee that the student who earned it can read, write or do math at a high school level. Gov. Kate Brown had demurred earlier this summer regarding whether she supported the plan passed by the Legislature to drop the requirement that students demonstrate they have achieved those essential skills. But on July 14, the governor signed Senate Bill 744 into law. Through a spokesperson, the governor declined again Friday to comment on the law and why she supported suspending the proficiency requirements. Brown’s decision was not public...

It seems justice is finally going to be served to Gov. Andrew Cuomo... Yes, it’s great to watch a man whose thuggish character was apparent throughout his tenure finally being called to account. But there’s something troubling about the way Cuomo is being hustled out of office: Obscured amid the details about his gross behavior and the way his aides and liberal feminist enablers tried to discredit the victims is the fact that Cuomo remains responsible for the deaths of perhaps thousands of elderly New Yorkers during the early months of the pandemic — and for his administration’s ongoing, illegal...

The bill drops the graduation requirement requiring students to show that they can read and write proficiently and do high school-level math. Charles Boyer, the governor’s deputy communications director, claimed the change would benefit minorities. The subjects of reading, writing, and arithmetic used to be the three foundational pillars of education and have long been...

Washington, D.C. – Club for Growth issued the following statement in response to the Senate passage of the “infrastructure” bill. “The fact is the so-called infrastructure bill will be an enormous liability to everyone who voted for it, not just Republicans,” said David McIntosh, Club for Growth President. “A majority of Democrat voters want tax and regulatory relief, a plurality want a balanced budget amendment and to end deficit spending, and the numbers are even stronger among Republicans. Meanwhile in Washington, liberals and moderate Republicans are trying to sell what amounts to a climate bill with $50 billion more in...
