In an attempt to have “equitable graduation standards,” the state of Oregon is doing away with the requirement that high school seniors demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, and math before graduating.
Quick Facts
Oregon Gov. Kate Brown, D, signed Senate Bill 744 on July 14.
The bill drops the graduation requirement requiring students to show that they can read and write proficiently and do high school-level math.
Charles Boyer, the governor’s deputy communications director, claimed the change would benefit minorities.
The subjects of reading, writing, and arithmetic used to be the three foundational pillars of education and have long been considered indispensable for society. An indicator of progress in any culture is the percentage of people who can read and write. Yet in Oregon now, progress is being replaced with supposed equity...

“Charles Boyer, the governor’s deputy communications director, claimed the change would benefit minorities.” #HowThat?
Proves again that progress is NOT possible when "Progressives" are in charge!
“Hey! I have an idea! Let’s have all the smart, competent, conscientious people step aside! That way the black people will have a chance!” — said the Democrat
Kate Brown admits in so many words that she hates blacks.
How is school at all beneficial without readin’, writin’ and arithmetic?
Defund the skools...
Liberal policies have destroyed America’s cities, and with them the societies within them.
How does this work?
“We failed you for 13 years, but we are going to give you a diploma... “
If they *really* wanted to help these students, they would make sure they could read, like, a few years before their senior years.
Madness, utter madness. The students should sue their pants off, and make allowing charter schools a part of the deal. Lots and lots of charter schools.
And sue the NEA as well.
Institutionalized racism
Blacks are inferior, eh, Oregone? How much more evidence do you need that demonicRATS are the party of racists?
So....in the future when they don’t get job advancements like everyone else, it’s due to racism, eh?
“We will help minorities by leaving them poorly educated and unprepared for life in a modern, technological society.” Got it.
Guaranteed Oregon teachers will just stop teaching basics to all children. Basics will be replaced with the woke curriculum of the day. All kids of all races will be dumbed down. Equity.
I shall not hire anyone from Oregon, from this moment, forward.
Deliberately lowering standards has to be a prime example of racism. “They cannot ever do it, so we will not require them to.”
Liberals...the bottom of the bottom, the sludge below the sewage, the rust in the pipes. Death to liberals. Wipe them out...all of them.
The Clark County (NV) school district has issued direction to every teacher: No child of color will be failed for any reason, at any grade level. No failing grades, no holding back. No expulsions or suspensions.
Announced two week before classes started, this year.
Just to teachers. Not a public announcement.
350,000 kids. Almost 1/2 are white.
Makes complete sense. Why should anyone expect students to be literate when teachers are not?
There’s your Rat KKK
. Years ago, it was taking about 5 years to get the children of illegals to proficiency in English. As opposed to about 2 years for immersion learning. I guess they gave up. Oregon is about 10%.foreign-born. This is about them, I believe.
“Guaranteed Oregon teachers will just stop teaching basics to all children. Basics will be replaced with the woke curriculum of the day. All kids of all races will be dumbed down. Equity.”
That is precisely what they believe, and what their intent is.
This system doesn’t preclude anyone from learning. Just from having to demonstrate that they learned. A sop to the beaners, but plenty of the slack-jawed yokels will take advantage.
How can you compete against stupidity? Only by dragging people down to that level.
