SNIP Berenson then notes that from the CDC’s own data they are seeing more children and young adults hospitalized from the COVID vaccine than they ever saw from the COVID virus.Via AlexBerenson:We can no longer trust the Centers for Disease Control to weigh honestly the risks and benefits of Covid vaccines for young people. That is the only possible interpretation of Wednesday’s CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) meeting about the link between Covid shots and serious heart problems in teens and young adults…At the meeting, CDC scientists presented horrendous data. It showed that even without accounting for underreporting, a...

The Democratic primary race for mayor was thrown into chaos Tuesday as the city Board of Elections appeared to have botched the count amid the city’s first ranked-choice election. Preliminary results released earlier in the day showed a total of 941,832 cast for mayor, an increase of more than 140,000 from the 799,827 that were counted on June 22, the day of the primary. The glaring discrepancy went unnoticed until it was flagged by front-runner Eric Adams.

This piece first appeared in Cosmos Magazine in January 2020: we are republishing it in honour of World Microbiome Day. Two overarching questions confront would-be human spacefarers: where to go and how to get there. Much attention has been given to the latter question. For interstellar travel to become a reality, major engineering advances are required, probably involving radically new propulsion systems. Many proposals are highly speculative, but we know of no fundamental physical principles that forbid interstellar travel; whether or not it becomes a reality boils down to technology, cost and motivation. I wish to address the oft-neglected first...

With the stroke of a pen, the future of college athletics in Illinois took a dramatic turn for the better for student athletes. Governor JB Pritzker signed a bill Tuesday that will allow them to make money off their celebrity, beginning a new day in Illinois college athletics. "This isn't just a win for our student athletes, it's a win for the future of our entire state," Pritzker said

"I have read and considered the June 23, 2021 report titled “Report on the November 2020 Election in Michigan” from the Michigan Senate Oversight Committee. The Michigan Senate Oversight Committee concluded their investigation without examining appropriate evidence, expert reports, and requesting testimony from qualified experts. The report concludes that there was “no widespread or systemic fraud in Michigan’s prosecution of the 2020 election”. And yet, the Oversight Committee Chair stated in his Executive Summary that “this investigation should not be considered exhaustive’ and that “every possible investigative avenue was not undertaken.” I am in receipt of evidence reflecting systemic election...

[Andrea Weiskopf] During the April 8 meeting of the Loudoun County School Board’s Equity Committee, a Loudoun County Public Schools teacher accused a local parents group of racism in response to that group’s continued allegations that LCPS is employing critical race theory in its employee training and student curriculum — something the school system has consistently denied. The public comments from Andrea Weiskopf — who teaches Latin at River Bend Middle School in Sterling — are the latest chapter in an ongoing conflict in the LCPS community over the school system’s “Culturally Responsive Framework.” “Over the past few weeks, a...

WASHINGTON — The House voted on Tuesday to remove statues honoring Confederate and other white supremacist leaders from public display at the United States Capitol, renewing an effort to rid the seat of American democracy of symbols of rebellion and racism. The chamber voted 285 to 120 to approve the legislation, which aims to banish the likenesses of Chief Justice Roger B. Taney, Jefferson Davis and roughly a dozen other figures associated with the Confederacy or white supremacist causes. Sixty-seven Republicans, including the party’s top leader, joined with every Democrat who voted to support the changes, but a majority of...

Both chambers of the California legislature approved Gov. Gavin Newsom's plan to send additional $600 stimulus checks to residents across the state late Monday night, sending the legislation to the governor's desk. First proposed in May, Newsom's "Golden State Stimulus II" expands on the first round of payments that went out in April. In that first round, individuals with incomes of $30,000 or less received payments. In this second round, taxpayers who make up to $75,000 a year and did not receive payments in the first round will receive $600. Families with dependents would receive an additional $500 in direct...

SIOUX CENTER—The U.S. Department of Justice said Tuesday, June 8, it can “vigorously” defend existing civil rights exemptions for private schools that discriminate against LGBTQ students as part of a lawsuit that includes two Dordt University students. It is generally the practice of the DOJ to defend the law as-is, which currently allows for religion-based anti-LGBTQ rules at nonpublic schools — even those that receive federal funding. However, the tone of Wednesday’s announcement surprised and dismayed Lauren Hoekstra, a queer woman and one of the students at the Sioux Center university who is included in the lawsuit. She remembers being...

On top of its other tragedies, 2020 saw the biggest surge in violent crime in decades. Homicides rose a projected 25% to 30%, to over 20,000 dead. The FBI reports a precipitous increase in violent crime overall, with other sources saying shootings rose in particular. Commentators have floated numerous explanations: COVID, lockdowns, the recession, drugs, gun sales. But they often don’t acknowledge a role for the wave of anti-police protests that swept the country last summer following the killing of George Floyd, and the agitation to “defund the police” still gripping many cities. Law professor Paul Cassell dubbed this connection...

On June 25, NSP announced the deployment of a new technology system designed to detect safety issues with commercial vehicles traveling on I-80 near the Waverly and North Platte weigh stations. According to NSP, the new system “includes technology embedded in the pavement of I-80 that detects a flat tire on a commercial vehicle, while the vehicle is moving at interstate speeds. The system then flags that vehicle and requires the driver to exit at the weigh station for the flat tire to be addressed.” Also included with the technology upgrades is a camera system that can read license plates...

ust hours after New York City’s Board of Elections released ranked choice voting numbers showing a shrinking lead for mayoral contender Eric Adams, officials acknowledged a discrepancy in the ballot count. On the day of the primary, the BOE showed just under 800,000 votes with 96.6 percent of scanners reporting; numbers released Tuesday — accounting only for in-person votes — showed 941,832 votes: a large jump considering the percentage of uncounted votes just days ago. Adams’ campaign quickly questioned the numbers. “The vote total just released by the Board of Elections is 100,000-plus more than the total announced on election...

he cost of gasoline has reached a seven-year high, and gas stations are expect to run out of fuel during the July 4 weekend. The average national price for regular gas is priced at $3.10, the highest it has been since October 2014. The price is up 2% from Memorial Day and 42% from this time last year as COVID-19 pandemic restrictions brought demand to a near halt, according to CNN. "Today, 89 percent of U.S. gas stations are selling regular unleaded for $2.75 or more. That is a stark increase over last July 4 when only a quarter of...

Dear Sir and Madam, I read with great disgust your "Organization Strategic Plan to Embed Racial Justice and Advance Health Equity." Seldom have I read a more destructive, divisive, and inflammatory document by a professional organization, and I have never been more ashamed of being associated with the American Medical Association at any time in my career. The suggestion that our country owes anyone "equity" because of "past injustices" is revolting. My family arrived in this country in 1961. We have not been a party to any of the injustices that occurred so many decades ago, yet you hold my...

US Inflation is almost as hot as in Russia, but the Fed is still blowing it off. Consumer price inflation in Russia is red-hot, having jumped 6.0% in May compared to a year ago, 2 percentage points above the Bank of Russia’s target of 4.0%. Polls in Russia show that food inflation is a top concern, currently running at 7.4%.But inflation in the US isn’t lagging far behind: The Consumer Price Index (CPI) jumped 5.0% in May. Yet the central banks are on opposite tracks in their approach to inflation. Federal Reserve governors keep jabbering about this red-hot inflation being...

Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, the chief scientist at the World Health Organization (W.H.O.), warned Monday that the pandemic is not over and said it is not yet time to return to normal and “encourage a lot of social mixing.” Speaking to CNN on Monday, Swaminathan warned of the virus variants and emphasized the importance of realizing that the pandemic “is not over.” “Everyone should recognize that this pandemic is not over. … It’s not that we can’t travel or do anything, but this is really not the time for us to encourage a lot of social mixing, to encourage mass events,...

It takes some audacity for someone with a spotty voting record to ask you to cast a ballot for them. But that's what is going on in the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate. State Treasurer Sarah Godlewski — one of at least a half-dozen Dems vying for GOP Sen. Ron Johnson's seat — was hired in August 2016 as a deputy political director for Hillary Clinton's Wisconsin campaign. In that post, she traveled the state trying to round up support among women. "My birthday is the day after the election on Nov. 9," Godlewski wrote in a Facebook post...
