Both chambers of the California legislature approved Gov. Gavin Newsom's plan to send additional $600 stimulus checks to residents across the state late Monday night, sending the legislation to the governor's desk.
First proposed in May, Newsom's "Golden State Stimulus II" expands on the first round of payments that went out in April. In that first round, individuals with incomes of $30,000 or less received payments.
In this second round, taxpayers who make up to $75,000 a year and did not receive payments in the first round will receive $600. Families with dependents would receive an additional $500 in direct payments. Another $500 will also be made in direct payments to undocumented families.
State officials estimate that roughly two out of every three Californians will receive stimulus payments.
As for the timing of such payments, the bill containing the new checks is now at Newsom's desk, but the rest of the budget bill is not. On Monday, lawmakers approved of the stimulus money, extending the eviction moratorium and a new plan for handling hazardous waste.
Politico referred to the legislation currently on Newsom's desk as a "budget bill junior,” with several additional spending areas including Medi-Cal expansion, child care funding and wildfire prevention still needing to be addressed.

I don’t get a penny of my CA tax dollars back in the form of these “stimulus” checks. A lot of people in CA who don’t pay taxes will, though.

It’s Newsom’s Hail Mary to avoid the recall. I don’t think it
will save him.
Taxpayers who wish to do the right thing won’t want it. What
to do though?
Lets face it, the $90 billion (or whatever the amount of the
of excess funds is), it’s taxpayers who deserve it the most.
Illegal aliens will be getting it. Indigents will be getting
something. Leftists will line up at the trough.
Ya know, I’m tired of advocating for something that will
never happen.
By all means, send the checks. Don’t pay off our debt. Just
send us all a check and we’ll sink together.
I forgot to mention the areas where a minimum income will
now be guaranteed by municipalities.

Taxes? They’re for suckers like us. The best way is lie around and take the money, not earn it yourself.
As a man commented to a call-in show: So Medicare For All means after I paid every single month all my working life for the Medicare tax and now I can retire and use Medicare, someone else who just arrived in this country yesterday afternoon can get full benefits today?

More wealth transfer payments. Newsom should let everyone know what the cap is on wealth transfer in California.
Outrageous about the illegals. Corrupt politicians find any excuse to issue stimulus checks. Simple reason is almost all of them have stakes in Chinese controlled companies and the degenerate weed industry, which have been the primary beneficiaries of payments (the portion exceeding basic living expenses). That’s why I call any stimulus payments “CARES” — Chinese And Reefer Economies Stimulus — money. It’s an addiction the politicians will have difficulty weaning off of, and they seem to enjoy deflecting the blame for all the ensuing inflation on other factors.
