The U.S. military has conducted defensive precision airstrikes against three facilities near the Iraq-Syria border region Sunday evening. According to Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby, the facilities are used by several Iran-backed militia groups engaged in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks against U.S. personnel and facilities in Iraq, including Kata'ib Hezbollah (KH) and Kata'ib Sayyid al-Shuhada (KSS).Chad Pergram on Twitter: "Pelosi on US airstrikes on facilities used by Iran-backed militia groups near Iraq-Syria border. Says this is a “proportional response to a serious and specific threat. The Iran-backed militias utilizing these facilities have been engaged in attacks threatening US servicembrs”"...

Imagine a world in which two asset managers call the shots, in which their wealth exceeds current U.S. GDP and where almost every hedge fund, government and retiree is a customer. It’s closer than you think. BlackRock Inc. and Vanguard Group — already the world’s largest money managers — are less than a decade from managing a total of US$20 trillion, according to Bloomberg News calculations. Amassing that sum will likely upend the asset management industry, intensify their ownership of the largest U.S. companies and test the twin pillars of market efficiency and corporate governance. None other than Vanguard founder...

It has to be one of the strangest things in the world: So many Christians who love Jesus with all their hearts recoil in fear at the mention of His mothers name, while many who do love her find themselves tongue-tied when asked to explain why. Most of the issues people have with Mary are really issues about something else. "Where is the Assumption of Mary in the Bible?" isn't really a question about Mary. It's a question about the validity of Sacred Tradition and the authority of the Church. "Why should I pray to Mary?" isn't really about Mary,...

The Miami-area apartment building that crashed to the ground in a horrifying early-morning collapse Thursday had been experiencing “issues” for years, and it was even the subject of a scientific study last year that warned of it sinking into the earth. The Champlain Towers complex in Surfside, Florida, was the subject of at least one lawsuit over the maintenance of the structure’s outer walls. In addition, the building attracted the attention of scientists alarmed over flooding and land erosion. According to a Florida International University professor who co-authored a study focused on the issue last year, the complex had been...

I have great respect for both Senators Kennedy and Paul; but Kennedy is correct in this argument. Kennedy isn't trying to 'force' anyone to leave Afghanistan - he is in favor of giving them the choice and help to leave if they think that is best for them. We are allowing many thousands of people to enter our country illegally, and setting them free in the US, without knowing anything about them individually. We should certainly be able to accommodate people who have proven themselves to be our allies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgaV-X2j69A

The Prevention, Advocacy and Resource Center (PARC) website at Brandeis University reads like a parody. PARC compiled a list of words it deemed too offensive to utter, which includes "rule of thumb," "killing it," "freshman" and, somewhat ironically, "trigger warning." The list is making the rounds on social media, eliciting general mockery from the political Right. And these social justice warriors deserve to be mocked: Their list is ridiculous. But conservatives, moderates and anyone interested in an open and honest exchange of ideas shouldn't dismiss PARC as merely a joke. This level of word-policing is quite dangerous. The "student-centered" resource...

For 26 years, the pro-democracy tabloid Apple Daily was a thorn in Beijing’s side. This week, the paper closed for good. What its death means for Hong Kong — and for us all. By my lights, the most important news event of this past week was not the New York mayoral primary (my condolences to Andrew Yang). It wasn’t Bitcoin dropping below $30,000. And it certainly wasn’t the new bipartisan infrastructure deal announced by President Biden. It was the forced closure of Apple Daily, a pro-democracy newspaper in Hong Kong. You may not have heard of Apple Daily. I knew...

Has anyone ever seen Sheldon Whitehouse and John Forbes Kerry in the same room, or at the same yacht club? They are two peas in a pod — St. Paul’s School, Yale, Yankee bloodlines back to the Mayflower, living large on trust funds, never touching the principal, a pair of insufferably smug Democrat hypocrites. Whitehouse is the senator from the Ida Lewis Yacht Club and the Spouting Rock Beach Association in Newport. He’s been in the news this week after it was revealed (again) that his two go-to places to sneer at the hoi polloi are a lot less diverse...

Francis sends long handwritten letter to fellow Jesuit James Martin congratulating him on his "Gay" Conference for his "flock"The heretical and perverted pro-"LGBTQ-etc" conference promoted by the fellow traveler James Martin SJ and his other perverted friends at the Jesuit Fordham University, in New York City, took place yesterday. >All you need to know about the state of the Church today under the Jesuit Regime is that Martin's fellow Jesuit Francis sent him one of his longest handwritten letters ever congratulating him for this celebration of all that is evil and perverted in the world today, under the guise...

Has anyone started the process of opting out of the Child Tax Credit advance? I have, and it scares the hell out of me. The IRS website sends you to a partner company website called ID.me. They start by asking for your cell phone number so they can establish 2-factor identification. I figure no sweat, so I did that. Then they want you to take photos of the front and back of your driver's license. I figure the federal government probably already has that data anyway, so I did that. Then they want you to take a selfie. A series...

Mike Gravel, a former U.S. senator from Alaska who read the Pentagon Papers into the Congressional Record and confronted Barack Obama about nuclear weapons during a later presidential run, has died. The Texas Supreme Court ruled that Facebook could be held liable if sex traffickers use the platform to prey on children, arguing the social media website isn’t a “lawless no-man’s-land.” The ruling was made following three Houston-area lawsuits involving teenage trafficking victims who alleged that they met their abusers through Facebook’s messaging service. Prosecutors also said that Facebook was negligent by not doing more to block sex traffickers from using the site. “We do not understand Section 230 to ‘create a lawless no-man’s-land on the Internet’ in which states are powerless to impose liability on websites that knowingly or intentionally...

More than 4,000 people have been hospitalized or died from COVID-19 “breakthrough” cases, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In an update late last week, the agency said that 4,115 people have been hospitalized or have died from COVID-19 despite having been fully vaccinated. The total number of individuals who have died from COVID-19 after being vaccinated is 750, according to the agency. It noted that 76 percent of hospitalizations and deaths from breakthrough cases occurred among individuals over the age of 65. “As of June 21, 2021, more than 150 million people in the...

1. Babylon is described as the “GREAT CITY” (Revelation 16:19; 17:18; 18:10, 16, 18, 21). The “GREAT CITY” is identified as the “CITY WHERE THE LORD WAS CRUCIFIED” (Revelation 11:8). That unambiguously means Jerusalem. 2. It was Babylon was who would be punished for shedding the blood of the prophets and saints and “all who have been slain on earth” (Revelation 16:6; 17:6, 24; 19:2). This is a direct reference to Jesus’ words in Matthew 23:35-36 in which Jesus condemned the JEWS OF HIS DAY for “all righteous blood shed on earth,” promising judgment upon them/Jerusalem―in THEIR GENERATION―for their sins...

On Saturday, Oregon’s State Senate passed bill HB 3352, which expanded eligibility for illegal aliens to receive Medicaid. Advertisement - story continues below The Radical-left Governor of Oregon, Kate Brown, is expected to sign the bill into law this week. Her office has been pressuring the Oregon Legislature to pass the “cover all people” proposal since March. Gov. Brown: “Everyone deserves access to health care. It’s the right thing to do, the just thing to do. And, it’s smart economic policy.”
