The Temple Mount was originally closed to Jews on Jerusalem Day, following clashes between Arabs and Israeli police, and remained so throughout the Gaza violence in Operation Guardian of the Walls. Jews visit Temple Mount after closure during Operation Guardian of the Walls. (photo credit: OR NEHEMIAH AHARONOV) The Temple Mount reopened for Jewish visitors on Sunday morning after it had been closed for such visits for the last 19 days due to the Muslim month of Ramadan and the conflict with Hamas in Gaza. The site was originally closed by police to Jewish visitors starting May 4 for the...

Israel’s IDF says that it killed at least 225 Gaza-based terrorists and 25 senior commanders. These were commanders of Hamas and Islamic Jihad. During the 11-days of Operation Guardian of the Walls, there was an unprecedented level of rocket fire, closed airports in Israel and a record number of interceptions of Hamas rockets in a short period of time. When the ceasefire came into force in the early hours of Friday, there were celebrations by Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank claiming victory. Israel also says it made impressive gains. So what is the “scorecard” of the conflict? Here...

SPECIAL DISPATCHES FROM WASHINGTON. WASHINGTON, Wednesday, May 22. The article in to-day's TIMES is correct in its assertion that our Government never rejected the proposition for the abolition of privateering, but merely suspended the negotiation pending a proposition for amendment. Secretary SEWARD, finding the correspondence in this condition, on the 24th of April sent instructions to our Ministers in Europe to do just what the TIMES suggests -- that is, to notify the parties to the Treaty of Paris that the United States Government accepts the first point of said treaty, and agrees to the abolition of privateering. This must...

U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine, who identifies as Catholic, weighed in this week on Holy Communion for pro-abortion politicians, asserting that requiring Catholic legislators to oppose abortion is like imposing sharia law on the nation. In an essay for the far-left National Catholic Reporter, Kaine suggested abortion is not a matter of the life and death of an unborn child, but merely of norms governing human sexuality. For bishops to demand “Catholics in public life not only live according to church doctrine but additionally shape the law, even to include the threat of criminal prosecution and punishment, to enshrine church doctrine...

A friend of mine used to say that the best words in the English language are “Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve begun our descent into JFK Airport.” That friend lives in Florida now. It didn’t help that all the news from Florida was that it was like a 2019 wonderland. People were sane! Masks were not worn in low-risk situations! Kids went to school every day! The main reason we pulled the trigger on a complicated, albeit temporary, move, though, was for our youngest son. Learning on Zoom for a four-year old is not a possibility. His Florida teacher understood that...

Many Americans have become more germ-conscious since the start of the coronavirus pandemic last year – but Vice President Kamala Harris may have made her apparent concerns too conspicuous. Harris was caught on camera Friday immediately wiping her right hand on her jacket after shaking hands with South Korean President Moon Jae-in at the White House.

This is definitely the most requested video I have had. Rightfully so because the history of Reconnaissance and Marine Raiders are so intertwined it can leave someone feeling a bit confused, I have your back. Not only does this video give you my military history, it also gives you the history of Marine Recon and Marine Raiders (MARSOC), the requirements to get into both units, and also some very sound advice from other Recon and Raider Operators. So get some popcorn, grab a notepad, and put your feet up. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/nBOrclf6rwA

Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh suggested that Hamas's current objective is to continue fueling the ongoing violence in Jerusalem, just hours after the ceasefire came into effect. Hamas will continue to “defend” Jerusalem, head of the Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh said Friday hours after the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas came into effect. Haniyeh suggested that Hamas’s current objective is to continue fueling the ongoing violence between Palestinians and security forces in the West Bank and in Jerusalem. Haniyeh promised to continue “fighting for Jerusalem” and specifically mentioned “liberating al-Aqsa Mosque” in Jerusalem’s Old City and the neighborhood of...

As a gesture of solidarity with the tens of millions of carrots murdered every year to facilitate #Veganuary,” typed failed mayor Laurence Fox while still in his folk music period and presenting as a flaccid tree, “tonight I forsake vegetables.” Then he uploaded a picture of his steak. As a piece of food photography it was poor; as a statement of resistance it was powerful. Last week Fox News apologised after airing a piece titled Up in Your Grill, which claimed Biden wanted to curb meat consumption. This would include, they said, a plan to cut 90% of red meat...

Figueroa recently sold her house here, and the experience was incredible: "We had over 150 people walk through in two days, which is pretty mind-blowing. We had nine offers, half of those for cash. And I'm still here, because the buyer is allowing me to live here for five months rent-free"!"Are you willing to share how much more than the listing price it finally went for?" asked Pogue."It was around $65,000 more than asking price," Figueroa said,

During an interview with NPR released on Friday, former Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes said that there is more vocal pressure from the left on Israel and cited Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) position as an example of “the Overton window shifting before your eyes.” Rhodes stated, “Look, when Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is staking out her position on this, that’s the Overton window shifting before your eyes.” He also said, “And therefore, it’s going to be harder to just stick to the old line of essentially unquestioning support for the policies of the Israeli government.” And “It’s just simply a fact...

MANILA – Cracks are appearing in Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s ruling coalition over what is expected to be a hard-knuckled contest at the 2022 presidential elections. The surprising challenge comes from no less than the ambitious boxer-turned-politician, Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, who has fixed his gaze on the top office. In recent months, the 42-year-old Filipino prize fighter icon, who is currently serving his first term as a senator, has rapidly transformed from a reliable and unquestioning ally into one of the most vocal critics of the Filipino president. Amid growing anti-China sentiment in the Philippines, the prospective presidential candidate has...

Former President Donald Trump has labelled Republicans who do not want to discuss Arizona vote recount as ‘weak and stupid’ in an interview. It is a significant event in the ‘Stop the Steal’, a campaign based on the unverified claims that the last election contained widespread voter fraud has led to a high profile vote audit in Maricopa County. “That’s all people ask me. They say ‘what’s going on in Arizona?’ They want to talk about the election fraud. The weak Republicans don’t want to talk about it. The weak or stupid or RINOs, call them whatever you want.” “The...

In a sane world – which we haven’t seen in well over a decade – this letter would not even be marginally controversial: Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke Speaks Out Against Woke Capitalism.Business Insider reports that the CEO of the e-commerce platform Shopify, Tobi Lütke, recently sent a letter to the entire staff reasserting the company’s commitment to competitive enterprise and rejecting calls for it to embrace social activism. In an age when woke politics are increasingly infecting corporate America, he wanted to “remind everyone that we are a business,” and, “more importantly, a hugely ambitious one.” “We are trying...

Pentecost Sunday John 20:19–23 Friends, in our Gospel for today, drawn from St. John’s account, Jesus shows his disciples the wounds of his Crucifixion, and then he offers them shalom (peace). It is the juxtaposition of the wounds and the shalom that carries power. The wounds alone would leave us afraid, convinced of our sin but not of a way out. The shalom alone would leave us with cheap grace, a too easy way out. And this is precisely why, immediately after uttering that word and showing those wounds, Jesus sends the disciples on a mission of forgiveness: “He breathed...

PolitiFact added an editor's note Monday retracting the "pants on fire" claim. PolitiFact, a Pulitzer Prize winning fact check group, has retracted a September 2020 report calling a Hong Kong virologist's analysis that COVID-19 originated in a lab a "debunked conspiracy theory." "The claim is inaccurate and ridiculous," the original fact check reads, according to The Epoch Times. "We rate it Pants on Fire!" An editor's note Monday said the group has removed but archived the original statement. "When this fact-check was first published ... PolitiFact’s sources included researchers who asserted the SARS-CoV-2 virus could not have been manipulated. That...

The Ryanair plane was en route to Vilnius when it was diverted to Minsk. The opposition says the move was a bid to arrest a journalist on board who is critical of Lukashenko's government. A journalist known for his critical reporting on the Belarus government is being held at an airport in Minsk after his Lithuania-bound flight was forced to land, opposition figures said on Sunday. Exiled opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya said the journalist in question is Raman Pratasevich, who "faces the death penalty" in Belarus.

Several years ago, in connection with a family trip to Israel, I looked into the issue of Israeli “settlements” in the areas of East Jerusalem and the West Bank. I then had a post in June 2017 titled “Do You Know The Difference Between ‘Settlers’ And ‘Immigrants’?” . The Israeli settlements, and the “settlers” who inhabit them, have come in for constant attacks from the international left, culminating in condemnation from a UN Security Council resolution in 2016. The resolution was approved by a 14-0 vote in 2016 (on which vote the U.S., during President Obama’s tenure, abstained, rather than...
