U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine, who identifies as Catholic, weighed in this week on Holy Communion for pro-abortion politicians, asserting that requiring Catholic legislators to oppose abortion is like imposing sharia law on the nation.
In an essay for the far-left National Catholic Reporter, Kaine suggested abortion is not a matter of the life and death of an unborn child, but merely of norms governing human sexuality.
For bishops to demand “Catholics in public life not only live according to church doctrine but additionally shape the law, even to include the threat of criminal prosecution and punishment, to enshrine church doctrine on sexuality as mandatory for all Americans is contrary to our basic liberty,” he declared.
“Abortion is the axe laid to the roots of the tree of human rights: when our culture encourages the violation of life at its youngest and most vulnerable condition, other ethical norms cannot stand for long,” San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone wrote in a recent pastoral letter.
Abortion “is not a ‘Christian’ or ‘Catholic’ issue,” the archbishop noted, because “the dignity of the human person is a value that is, or should be, affirmed by us all.”

That phrase can be interpreted in two ways. One is that Kaine says that he is a Catholic.
The second reminds me of a quote from (conservative talk show host) Jim Quinn: Saying “I identify as” is the same as “I am pretending to be”.
Uh, Catholics don’t kill you if you disobey their laws. They simply tell you you’re no longer a Catholic. And liberals know damned well what happens to you when you follow the killer ‘prophet’ and disobey his laws.

This mush brained approach does not so much advocate affirmation as it does acceptance. We are now
admonished to accept the murderer, child molester, lesbian/gay/self-mutilating transsexual
with open arms and open doors. Furthermore, this "dignity" philosophy extends to the assimilation of
communists, muslims, and illegal aliens into our communities.
We are so screwed.

U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine needs to be reminded that the home of the Catholic religion is in Italy. They don’t force anyone here to follow any of their doctrines and the religion is borrowed not ruled here. The Vatican is considered it’s own country and can do what it wants as long as it doesn’t go to war with the rest of Italy. They don’t buy into our way of government any more than we do theirs right here. So complaining about what they think is about as productive as herding cats.
Maybe the senator should come up with ways to stop gun violence, the attack on the economy, or censuring some of the lies the media has produced which have turned into harm to people in the US. This is where he was elected to have a say. He needs to focus on what his job is that he is not doing very well.
