A man shot three times outside a downtown restaurant last week believes his assailant was enraged at him for taunting the man’s appropriation of Black culture and “banishing” him from hip-hop. The shooting victim, Sean Brown, 48, recounted getting shot three times early in the evening on May 10 and offered his theory for why Zabayullah Qahir, 29, allegedly attacked him outside the Elm Street restaurant USA Chicken and Biscuit, which is owned by Qahir’s father. Brown said Qahir, who is Arab, dressed in the attire of young urban Blacks, spoke their slang and moved with their cadence and gestures....

NEW YORK (AP) — Monifa Bandele became a community organizer in the late 1990s, after New York City police fatally shot a young, unarmed Black immigrant named Amadou Diallo in the Bronx. In the two decades since, she repeatedly witnessed police reforms that failed to stop Black people from dying at the hands of officers. Some of those reforms are now part of federal legislation being negotiated in the name of George Floyd, the Black man whose murder under the knee of a white Minneapolis officer last year sparked worldwide protests. For instance, the legislation calls for banning chokeholds, a...

I’m not the first person to note that whatever Democrats accuse their opponents of doing, it is they, in fact, who are doing it. If you are puzzled why the Biden Administration scotched the Keystone Pipeline but gave a thumbs up on the Russian Nord Stream 2 pipeline to Germany, perhaps this explanation will help. Under the banner of “green energy” to control emissions. Germany began shutting down the cleanest emitting power stations: nuclear. In 2000, nuclear had a 29.5 percent share of its power generation mix. In 2020 that share dropped to 11.4 percent and next year every one...

Carter's letter granting authority to cast his vote by proxy to Calvert was submitted to the House clerk and accepted. Carter successfully voted by proxy Thursday on "the motion to recommit" that preceded the final vote on the supplemental security bill....

Something remarkable is happening in America. You can see it by looking at the forensic audits happening in Arizona, Georgia and New Hampshire. Many more audits are surely on the way. Americans are finally seriously questioning the results of the 2020 presidential election. The lightbulb has gone off. Americans are no longer afraid to say out loud that they think the election was stolen That is why the National Republican Congressional Committee just announced the greatest April fundraising haul ever. That is why the latest Washington Examiner poll reports enthusiasm for Republican candidates in the 2022 midterm elections is ahead...

Everyone knows hate is the exclusive domain of the right, right? I mean, I’ve seen MSNBC, and truth-teller Joy Reid would never lie, nor would the gang at Morning Joe. I’ve also watched CNN, where Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon have assured me the only lies in media come from conservatives. That means it must be true, because they’ve won journalism awards, and they don’t give those out to just anyone…only to just about everyone. Of course, these people not only lie, it’s the main thing they do for a living. When not lying, they are ignoring, sweeping stories that...

President Joe Biden has announced a plan to spend $174 billion to make it easier for Americans to choose electric vehicles. Biden wants $15 billion of that money to go toward building a national network of 500,000 charging stations by 2030. The day after Biden's announcement, Representatives Andy Levin and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez - both Democrats - announced that they had revised their existing bill on electric vehicle infrastructure so that it would align with Biden's new plan. Republicans oppose Biden's plan. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) called it a "mandatory rush" toward EVs (it's not - Biden has declined to...

I recently helped elderly mom find a new electric provider through one of the popular website markets. The provider chosen accepted her application and began providing service. But 5 days later she received a letter from them demanding a $500 security deposit or her service would be disconnected. Assuming this letter is legit, is it legal to demand such a hefty security deposit after service is established, instead of assessing credit risk at the time of application? Could they be trying to scam her because of the recent power problems Texas experienced hit them financially? They are saying that the...

Haaland, 60, was speaking about being the first Native American woman to hold the position when the funnyman host spotted a guy in a suit on all fours. “Considering I was sworn in by the very first female vice president, also a woman of color, that was really probably the best par —” Haaland said before Meyers cut her off. “I am sorry, Secretary. I am going to interrupt you real quick,” Meyers said as the staffer sneakily ducked behind a desk and out of the frame. “You have a staffer who fully crawled on the carpet behind you —...

Police in Illinois allegedly mistook the ashes of a grieving dad’s 2-year-old daughter for drugs, according to reports. “No, no, no, bro, that’s my daughter!” said Dartavius Barnes on video from a Springfield police bodycam, obtained by WICS, the Springfield ABC affiliate. Barnes was pulled over last year, and is now suing the Springfield police department and the Illinois city. Police, who were searching Barnes’ vehicle for drugs, opened a cylinder containing the child’s ashes and scattered them on the ground during the search, court records say.

Martin Bashir has issued an apology to Princes William and Harry but said he “loved” their mother and insisted that his notorious TV interview with her was not damaging. Bashir’s comments, made to the Sunday Times, came after William and Harry slammed him and the BBC after a report about the infamous 1995 sit-down came out last week, the Sun reported Saturday. “I never wanted to harm Diana in any way and I don’t believe we did,” Bashir told the Times. “Everything we did in terms of the interview was as she wanted, from when she wanted to alert the...

A photograph posted this week on two public Instagram accounts purports to show Princess Latifa, the daughter of the ruler of Dubai, who has not been seen or heard from in months. In mid-February, BBC Panorama broadcast secret video testimony from her in which she said she was being held as a hostage and feared for her life. The BBC is unable to verify the photo, and no further information has been provided. However, a friend of Latifa's confirmed that it is the princess in the picture. The BBC understands that the appearance of the image is not random or...

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) suggested on Wednesday that the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 was not an insurrection but a largely "peaceful protest." "Even calling it an insurrection, it wasn't," Johnson said during an appearance on Fox News's "Ingraham Angle." "You know, I condemned the breach. I condemned the violence, but to say there were thousands of armed insurrectionists breaching the Capitol intent on overthrowing the government is just simply false narrative." Johnson said he has spoken to some of his constituents in Wisconsin that were present at a "Stop the Steal" rally on the National Mall...

We’re slowly getting more information about events on January 6 at the Capitol. Every new bit of information shows that what happened pretty much falls within the parameters of anything Code Pink or Antifa have done on or to federal property, although with significantly less violence than Antifa uses. Nevertheless, Democrats continue to claim that January 6 was an insurrection that rivaled the entire Civil War in intensity. The latest claim comes from Biden’s White House, where his Press Secretary asserts that several police officers died on January 6. I’m riffing off the top of my head here, so I’m...
