Vanity: Two Questions about May 24

Two questions about Dan Bongino's Noon - 3 PM national radio slot starting Monday:

1) Is there any news regarding streaming replay for us on the 'wrong side of the world'?

2) Will Dan have use (even temporarily and symbolically) of the Golden EIB Microphone?

Bongino’s show is actually being done by
Cumulus, not iHeart/Premiere. When Rush
died, Premiere said they would wait at least 90 days before announcing a successor. For now that show is still the
Rush Limbaugh Show with guest hosts and
Rush replays.

iHeart announced Bongino in the 12 o’clock slot—following Chris Plante on WMAL-FM.

We’ll know for sure soon enough.

Rush died Feb 17 which was 95 days ago.
“We have heard from affiliates who have been told it will be a minimum of 90 days before permanent plans for the 12-3pm eastern slot are solidified.”—RadioInsight

Cumulus aka Westwood One has announced at least 100 affiliates. Again still awaiting
word from iHeart/Premiere on their choice.
Various stations have dropped what was
Rush in favor of other hosts—national
ones like Bongino or local ones.

I am in the US, I often use TalkStreamLive.com to listen to various radio shows. I do not know where you are. If you are outside the US, I do not know if copyright affects accessing radio shows online.

WMAL is owned by Cumulus, hence the
Bongino choice.
In New England I’d think Cumulus’
WPRV 790 Providence would pick up Dan.
iHeart stations like current Rush
affiliate WXKS 1200 Boston will most
likely carry the eventual Rush successor.

It looks like iHeart app does have Bongino
podcasts—not sure on streaming.
Cision:
“The Dan Bongino Show launches with more than 115 affiliates, including top market stations KABC-AM (Los Angeles), WLS-AM (Chicago), WBAP-AM (Dallas), KSFO-AM (San Francisco), KSEV-AM (Houston), WMAL-FM (Washington, DC), KTTH-AM (Seattle), and WJR-AM (Detroit) as well as CUMULUS MEDIA’S new, all-digital station, WFAS-AM in the New York metropolitan area.

Dan Bongino is a leading media personality and figure in conservative politics, with a dedicated fanbase that follows him on multiple platforms. His website, Bongino.com captured an impressive 155% increase in unique visitors between February 2019 and 2020, according to TheRighting’s analysis of Comscore data. His eponymous podcast boasted more than 117 million downloads in 2020 and is now tracking to surpass that number for 2021. ...

With Monday’s launch of The Dan Bongino Show, Westwood One will offer a 24-hour, Monday–Friday programming lineup that also features established news/talk superstars Mark Levin, Ben Shapiro, Chris Plante, Michael Knowles, and Jim Bohannon.”

I appreciate the feedback from you folks.

Maybe by Monday night at Midnight (my time) I’ll have set up my 52 Year old Ampex reel-to-reel recorder and a streaming radio station link on a 24-hour timer and take a giant leap back into program capturing technology.

(Man, I hope the tape doesn’t break.) Hahaha

I may have to give you a call if I run short of Scotch tape. Yes, I still know how to make pretty good splices. Hahaha

Sounds like Dan will still do the podcast for free. But if you want to see video of his radio show it will be on Fox Nation.

I was WAAAAAY ahead of you in technology. I recorded Rush on cassette tapes. I bought three “boomboxes” with cassette recorders and used digital timers to turn each on on for each hour. I then listened to Rush on my evening walks on a portable cassette player. I’m sure your tapes were higher quality, but I could take mine on walks. There were even enough recordings to listen on weekends, too. I was able to listen to EVERY show. I stopped this when he started his podcasts, and I switched to them.

I still have all of these items, and use the boomboxes regularly because of poor radio reception here. They can be placed in the exact locations for best reception. the Rush walks gave me a 50-50-50 health improvement. The walks caused my blood pressure to drop 50 points, my weight dropped 50 lbs, and my cholesterol dropped by 50.

And as a star pupil in the Limbaugh Institute For Advanced Conservative Studies, your Political IQ likely went up 50 points as well.
There will not be another like Rush Limbaugh! If Dan Bongino grades out a 85 or better on the Limbaugh Scale within his first month or two, I’ll give him a “Pass with Distinction” score

Rush monologs will stay forever relevant and unsurpassed. Democrats and demedia have themselves to thank for that.

I know I’m totally spoiled, but Bongino and the other guest hosts lack (at least) three things Rush had in abundance: humor, cheer, and articulation. I hate mumblers that yell at me.

One of the worst of the yellers is Mark Levin, though he’s not been a guest host. I agree with almost everything he says, but always turn him OFF when he starts yelling. As for the mumblers, one Rush guest host won’t even say his own name properly. He mumbles his name as “Brrr Wumbl”. Rush always projected his voice to the audience, and rarely talked too fast. He spoke in a “real radio announcer” voice, not in quiet room conversational mumbling. Even now, I can hear Rush’s recorded voice clearly, but can’t understand much of the actual guest host voices at the same radio volume.

As for humor, when I started listening to Rush on earbuds while walking, I was actually careful to avoid too much laughing while I walked along, thinking that people would see me walking along laughing, and think I was nuts. He is sorely missed.

Try searching on ‘schedule recording streaming radio’.

It provides several options for recording radio streams.

‘Trusted Apps for Recording Streaming Radio’ describes some:

Here in NE Oklahoma our local radio station did the right thing and respectfully moved on from Rush after a couple of weeks.

We're now one of four new local markets to get a guy syndicated out of Florida, Mark Kaye. (SP?)

The jury is still kinda out... he's younger, quick witted, politically conservative but IMO kind of a lightweight alongside of Rush, or Bongino.

Plus he's kinda high-strung, like he's perennially caffeinated. Plays games... One, that's actually quite funny, is where he'll play a byte of some Dem saying something and beep out a "clean" word... guest caller gets to guess the word that was beeped. it's clever...

He plays another game with his female "co-host", "Producer", or whatever, called "Where are those pickles?"

Getting lame, trying too hard...

I've been listening to him for awhile but I'd welcome Bongino.

Obviously.

Oh yeah, I still give honorable mention to Candace Owens, if she'd be interested in the job. Maybe she could work with Bongino, which would give them both some time off when they want it.

I'm waiting for Cumulus to call so I can tell them how to do everything. :)
