America First Legal (AFL) is seeking to launch a lawsuit against critical race theory (CRT), Stephen Miller, ex-adviser for former President Donald Trump, said. “We’re also looking for plaintiffs—if we can find them—who are willing to stand up and file suit on critical race theory,” he said during an interview with Fox News. Miller encouraged federal workers who are victims of CRT training to join this effort. “Go to our website and tell us what happened to you,” he said. The Epoch Times reached out to the White House and the Justice Department for comments. Critical race theory—which espouses the...

Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan attacked and overran a key army base in southeastern Ghazni province Saturday, capturing dozens of soldiers and killing several others. The latest attack came on a day when the United States and NATO partners formally began withdrawing their militaries from the country after almost 20 years of war. Two senior provincial council members told VOA the Afghan army had stationed dozens of its forces at the base outside the provincial capital, also named Ghazni, before the pre-dawn insurgent attack. Local media reports said the ensuing clashes had lasted several hours and killed at least 17 soldiers....

The Waffling of the Bishops on Biden and CommunionThey won’t enforce canon law against him.The post-Vatican II Church has bred many of her own destroyers. Joe Biden is the premier example of this phenomenon. He is the anti-Catholic “Catholic” who persecutes his own church. He represents a political class of bad Catholics that grows larger with each passing year. The Church could have crushed this serpent in its shell. But the bishops declined to do so, owing to their own lack of faith. They sat on their hands as pols like Biden wrapped themselves in the trappings of Catholicism while sabotaging...

Tianhe separated from the core stage of the launcher after 492 seconds of flight, directly entering its...

This essay is adapted from Mr. Ferguson’s new book, “Doom: The Politics of Catastrophe,” which will be published by Penguin Press on May 4. He is a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. In 1957, the U.S. rose to the challenge of the ‘Asian flu’ with stoicism and a high tolerance for risk, offering a stark contrast with today’s approach to Covid-19...“Bliss was it in that dawn to be alive,/But to be young was very heaven!” Wordsworth was talking about France in 1789, but the line applies better to the America of 1957. That summer, Elvis Presley topped...

This week, President Biden proposed taxing capital gains at death at a tax rate of 39.6 percent plus the 3.8 percent investment tax. He proposed a $1 million exemption. For an individual with less than $11.8 million in net worth, this would create a new death tax from whole cloth. President Biden’s new death tax would result in estates that currently are not remotely close to having sufficient net worth to pay a death tax paying a death tax. It can be named a ‘capital gains tax at death’; it is a new death tax. For a long-term real estate...

On Saturday, recently announced gubernatorial candidate Caitlyn Jenner was asked by TMZ about whether or not biological men should be able to compete in women's sports. Jenner announced last Friday, as Reagan reported, that she is running against Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) who will be facing a recall. Caitlyn Jenner: “It’s a question of fairness. I oppose biological boys who are ttans competing in girls sports in school. It just isn’t fair, and we have to protect girls sports.” pic.twitter.com/jioEC3K97y— Jack Posobiec (@JackPosobiec) May 1, 2021TMZ seems caught off guard by her answer, opening their reporting that her "take on...

Almost completely forgotten by average Americans today, Commodore Dewey's smashing victory at the Battle of Manila Bay was, for a short time, a sensation which commanded the attention of the entire nation. It transformed Dewey from an unknown naval officer into one of the all-time American heroes, elevating to legendary status his famous command, "You may fire when ready, Gridley." In another previous post, we looked at some of the events leading up to the battle from a sailor's point of view aboard the USS Olympia taken from the classic memoir, Three Years Behind the Guns by John Tisdale. Now,...

Conservative Black politicians such as Sen. Tim Scott have sparked backlash Some liberal pundits have labeled Black Republicans as racists solely based on the political party they represent. The most recent example came Thursday when late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel mocked Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., saying the senator, who recently made headlines for his response to President Biden's address before Congress, "let the American people know the Republican Party isn't racist." Scott said in his Wednesday night rebuttal to the president that America is "not a racist country," sparking backlash from some Democrats on social media. However, prominent Democrats including Biden...

Dr. Fadi Yousef Kablawi, imam at the Masjid As-Sunnah An-Nabawiyyah in north Miami, struck a blow for interfaith harmony recently when he preached a sermon in which declared: “If you truly love Jesus, this [Islam] is the religion for you.” Kablawi’s sermon was an excellent illustration of why Muslim persecution of Christians continues unabated in Nigeria and elsewhere. After declaring that Palestine is “the land of Islam – and we will take it back,” Kablawi began a lengthy expatiation on Islamic martyrdom. “Every true Muslim,” Kablawi asserted, “should talk to himself about dying as a martyr for the sake of...

Canada lacks the miracle that is the United States Constitution. Still, as befits a nation the once-free British founded, it is a country that has traditionally had a few of what we consider to be core English freedoms — freedom of speech, worship, assembly, etc. Those concepts seem far away now, as Justin Trudeau and the various provincial and municipal governments use COVID as an excuse to crack down on those liberties. I've written before about Canada's draconian and expensive hotel rule for people returning by air from overseas travel. It's gotten so bad that people are flying into the...

The big automotive news is that Elon Musk's Tesla reported record earnings of $438 million for the past quarter. This translates to 93 cents per share on $10.39 billion in revenue. Tesla did this despite a semiconductor chip shortage that is hobbling other car companies like Ford, which had to slash vehicle production at seven plants in North America. Some see this as proving investors right to give Tesla stock a nosebleed price-to-earnings ratio of nearly 1,700, and thus making Musk the second richest person alive if not the richest. Our betters also preach that the stock market portends the future....

The New York Times, The Washington Post and NBC News walked back their reporting about FBI's communication with President Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani regarding Russia. The Washington Post was the first to report on Thursday that Giuliani was warned that he was the target of a Russian influence campaign last year. The newspaper, citing people familiar with the matter, also reported that One America News (OANN) was given similar warning. But the Post issued a correction on Saturday saying that it removed assertions that Giuliani and OANN had received such warnings. "An earlier version of this story, published Thursday,...

Novavax's shot could become the next coronavirus vaccine in the U.S. arsenal, potentially jumping ahead of AstraZeneca in the line for U.S. authorization, Politico reports. Why it matters: The vaccine proved to be just as effective as Pfizer and Moderna's mRNA vaccines in a U.K. clinical trial, and could become a crucial tool in the global vaccination effort. Between the lines: Novavax has never brought a product to market before, and began last-state clinical trials months after some of the other candidates. But AstraZeneca's rollout has been plagued by a series of public relations mishaps, and it — along with...

The feast of St Joseph the Worker falls on May 1, this Saturday (also a First Saturday), following the Solemnity of St. Joseph, which we celebrated on March 19. This is a relatively modern feast day since it was only instituted in 1955, during the pontificate of Pope Pius XII. The intention was that it should be a Christian alternative to the celebration of what was known as International Worker’s Day. This was originally promoted by the International Labor movement as a celebration of the working classes, and the date was chosen in 1889, in Paris, by the Second or...

Dr. Michael Hesemann, a German historian of the Catholic Church, has just given an interview to Robert Moynihan’s Inside the Vatican Magazine. In this interview, which deals with the 100th Anniversary of the apparitions of Fatima, Dr. Hesemann makes the following statement: Also in 1917, Freemasonry celebrated the 200th anniversary of the foundation of the first Grand Lodge in London in 1717. The Masonic ideology is not only based on deism, but also on the Gnostic heresy of self-salvation and “enlightenment,” and has a decidedly anti-Catholic agenda. Just in 1917, Maximilian Kolbe, one of the greatest saints of the 20th...
