[Catholic Caucus] Vatican Betrayal Update: Cardinal Parolin Dances for the Butchers of Beijing An article in La Croix International reveals the depths of the Vatican’s betrayal of the Catholics of the Underground Church in China. The article reports that Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin “has told Chinese state-run media that Vatican-Beijing talks are focused on achieving concrete results for China’s Catholics while avoiding differences between the two ‘systems.’”Avoiding, that is, the reality that a communist dictatorship governs China and that its very existence is inimical to the Church’s mission. Instead of addressing the oppression of the Church by...

On last night's episode of The Ezra Levant Show, I went over Justin Trudeau's trip to Paris where he signed Canada on to an agreement called The Christchurch Call. In short, because there was a mass murder in Christchurch, New Zealand, everyone else in the world must change how they use the internet. The Call doesn't address terrorism as much as it addresses the people who talk about terrorism online. Nationalism and Catholicism collide in run-up to the European elections (NEWS ANALYSIS) Italians will go to the ballot box on May 26 to elect members of the country’s delegation to the European Parliament. The vote — part of elections held across the European Union — will be another litmus test regarding Italy’s two populist political parties and whether they can withstand challenges from the left. What this latest electoral test will also do is reveal Italy’s love-hate relationship with the Catholic church. The country’s Democratic Party, which holds a majority of seats, is likely to go down in defeat like...

Some of the migrant families arrested at the southern border weren't actually families. In a pilot program, approximately 30% of rapid DNA tests of immigrant adults who were suspected of arriving at the southern border with children who weren't theirs revealed the adults were not related to the children, an official involved in the system's temporary rollout who asked to be anonymous in order to speak freely told the Washington Examiner Friday. "There’s been some concern about, 'Are they stepfathers or adopted fathers?'" the official said. "Those were not the case. In these cases, they are misrepresented as family members."...

Never mind about that plan to send illegal migrants to Florida. Thanks to some strong pushback from Governor Ron DeSantis, a loyal Trump supporter, the city of San Diego became the latest destination. With record numbers of people apprehended at the southern border, the Trump administration decided to relieve the overcrowding of detention centers at the border and fly detainees to other places. First, President Trump threatened to move them into sanctuary cities, which sounded like a reasonable idea to me. Then a plan was discussed to fly migrants, mostly families, to Broward and Palm Beach counties in Florida....

It’s the season of commencement ceremonies and the unavoidable controversies provoked by invited speakers. Why would 2019 be any different than previous years? The students have opinions and they want you to know about them. The latest commencement speaker to come under fire is Vice-President Mike Pence. Pence accepted an invitation to deliver a commencement address to the graduating class of Taylor University, a small private, interdenominational, evangelical Christian college in Upland, Indiana. Pence, remember, is the former Governor of Indiana so the invitation isn’t unusual on the face of it. It does seem a little unusual that a few...
