Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) asserted on Wednesday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) shared blame for the riot that occurred on January 6 at the U.S. Capitol. Stefanik, who serves as House GOP Conference chair, released a statement on the eve of the Capitol breach’s anniversary, thanking law enforcement for their work to control the riotous behavior but condemning Pelosi for ultimately being the one “responsible” for leaving the Capitol prone to attack. The New York Republican called it “unacceptable” that despite Pelosi’s nine-person investigatory committee — comprising seven Democrats and two of the most outspoken Never Trump Republicans in...

We choose a vacation in upstate New York in an attempt to escape the oppressive Philadelphia heat, at least for a week. It is a seven-hour drive, and traffic isn't bad, despite it being a Saturday in August. Weird. New York State is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The mountains and flora are simply majestic. But I digress. Upon arrival at our destination on Lake Champlain, we are thrilled with our simple, but well-placed accommodations. The view of the lake and the mountains can be seen from every window. Our front porch is covered, is right on...

Quick current affairs quiz: In what country last month did a family have their cars vandalized, their daughter threatened and their house torched for attending the wrong place of worship? A) Saudi Arabia, B) Afghanistan, C) Pakistan, D) None of the above. The correct answer is “D” none of the above. This happened last month in New York in the hamlet of New Square. This tiny enclave is populated exclusively by Hassidic Jews mostly of the Skvere sect. That seems is where the trouble started.

(ALBANY, NY) Sound the trumpets. Bang the drums. Forgotten upstate New York residents plan massive Bye Bye Bashes in anticipation of Hillary Clinton’s appointment as Secretary of State. Numerous spontaneous grassroots celebrations have sprung up seemingly overnight after the news broke last week that president-elect Barack Obama might tap Hillary for a cabinet position in his new administration. Although not official until tomorrow, Buffalo, upstate’s second largest city, plans a parade down Elmwood Avenue followed by fireworks over the Niagara River. Meanwhile, Adirondack celebrants plan to ski a pumpkin-headed Hillary effigy off the high jump in Lake Placid’s Olympic Village....

BATH, N.Y. (AP) — Sealed divorce records alleging a Republican candidate for Congress once threatened his wife at gunpoint were obtained by his Democratic opponent’s campaign manager, a prosecutor said Thursday. On instructions from Democrat Samara Barend’s campaign manager, a college student went to the Steuben County Clerk’s office in September to get “publicly available information” about Republican state Sen. John “Randy” Kuhl, county District Attorney John Tunney said. Court-sealed documents detailing Kuhl’s divorce in 2000 were included inadvertently, and the student, Andrew Rachlin, 22, copied the papers and turned them over to Barend campaign manager Jonah Siegellak, said Tunney,...
