John Hinderaker presents in Powerline a recent New York Post poll concluding, “A government that can’t keep its citizens reasonably safe is a failed regime…the poll, released Wednesday by Fontas Advisors/Core Decision Analytics, presented voters with this statement: ‘My family would have a better future if we left New York City permanently.’ The poll found 59% of respondents strongly or somewhat agreed with the statement, while 41% somewhat or strongly disagreed…a 12 percentage-point jump from voters who were asked the same question a year ago. Why do a clear majority of New Yorkers say they would be better off somewhere...

The saga continues in defense of the First and Second Amendments in federal courts. On April 1, 2022, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, in a split decision in a three-judge panel, reversed the District Court’s decision to transfer the case to New Jersey. In a court opinion, this was a vigorous slap down against judicial bias and activism. Defense Distributed and the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) sued the State Department for violating their First and Second Amendment rights to publish computer files on the Internet. They reached a settlement. Various Attorney Generals filed unprecedented actions to prevent the settlement from...

Inevitably, last weekend’s horrendous fusillade of bullets on a downtown Sacramento street that left six people dead and at least a dozen wounded generated demands for new gun controls in state that already has the nation’s most restrictive firearms laws. However, if anything, what happened just two blocks from the state Capitol underscores the folly of believing that gun violence can be meaningfully reduced by trying to choke off the supply of firearms — any more than the prohibition of liquor or the war on drugs succeeded. The state’s gun laws have hassled law-abiding hunters and gun hobbyists and some...

On March 30, 2022, a three-judge panel of the Fourth Circuit published an opinion in the case of Knibbs v Momphard. The Court found for the Estate of Knibbs, which is suing Deputy Momphard of the Macon County Sheriff’s Department. It was a split opinion, for the Knibbs Estate. Important precedents involving firearms and the Second Amendment are solidified by this opinion, which cites several previous cases. The Constitutional Amendment primarily cited is the Fourth Amendment. However, the citation to the Fourth relies on the Second Amendment, which includes the possession of a firearm in the home for self-defense.This author...

Republican politicians routinely claim that cities run by Democrats have been experiencing crime waves caused by failed governance, but a new study shows murder rates are actually higher in states and cities controlled by Republicans. “We’re seeing murders in our cities, all Democrat-run,” former President Donald Trump asserted at a March 26 rally in Georgia. “People are afraid to go out.” In February, Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., blamed Democrats for a 2018 law that reduced some federal prison sentences — even though it was signed by Trump after passing a GOP-controlled Congress. “It’s your party who voted in lockstep for...

Democrats love mass shootings. It’s their best chance at taking away our guns. We saw it happen in Australia back in 1996 when some wackjob killed 35 people and Australians HANDED OVER THEIR firearms — 700,000 or so to be exact, because, you know, safety, I guess…? As you have probably heard, a mass shooting in Sacramento, Calif., left six people dead and 15 more wounded. The story isn’t getting a ton of traction because the shooter is most likely not Muslim or white. The media loves when the shooter is a Muslim because terror attacks keep people focused on...

We’ve all heard stories — on a monthly basis, if not more often — about alleged “studies” that allegedly show that if we just pass a few more gun control measures, we can finally turn the tide on the criminal misuse of firearms. Various big gun control groups love to tout these studies to support their baseless claims that more commonsense restrictions on law-abiding citizens’ rights will make the difference where thousands of other gun control laws have failed. Take, for instance, this one from the highly respected, straight-shooting (cough) news network, CNN . . . Study: 3 federal laws...

NEW YORK (AP) — Most U.S. gun owners say they own firearms to protect themselves and their loved ones, surveys show. But a study published Monday suggests people who live with handgun owners are shot to death at a higher rate than those who don’t have such weapons at home. “We found zero evidence of any kind of protective effects” from living in a home with a handgun, said David Studdert, a Stanford University researcher who was the lead author of the Annals of Internal Medicine study. The study has several shortcomings. For example, the researchers said they could not...

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that the average American did not want to be governed by Republicans “who live in a totally different reality.” Clinton said, “I always thought the best politics is doing the best job you can do, and there are a lot that Democrats can talk about in the upcoming midterms. I’m aware that midterms are always difficult for the party in power, but we’ve got to start there and do a better job of telling it. For those who say it hasn’t gone far enough, that’s always the...

Parkland High alum David Hogg has not done much with his life since experiencing an admittedly horrific and unfathomable terror. Look, politics aside, what Nikolas Cruz did that day is horrendous. Full stop. I am sorry for the victims and the families of victims. However, it’s been really hard to sympathize with some of the survivors since almost the very beginning. People process traumatic events differently, but when kid victims lecture the entire nation over Constitutional rights with which they disagree and have no historical or contextual understanding of – nor grasp basic human nature and common sense – it comes...

Did NBC News and Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiroâs office break both federal, state, and local laws during their recent NBC Nightly News story on JSD Supply? Many people in the gun community are asking if any laws were broken after the story ran on the NBC Nightly News. When the hit piece was filmed, the news organization and the Pennsylvania AGâs office appeared to have broken multiple laws to produce their sensationalized hit piece on Americans building guns at home.

In this Humanist article, Megan Hunt is described as an openly bi-sexual, atheist, Progressive. She was born in 1986, so she is 35 years old. Hunt recently gained notoriety for this tweet. From Twitter.com: Owning a gun isn’t a “God-given right.” It’s a slave-owning, misogynistic founding father-given right. I’m not against 2a, but be real – the Constitution was written by people! Today I’m filibustering a bill that would allow concealed carry without training or a permit. #NELegIt is hard to see how filibustering a bill that restores Second Amendment rights to Nebraska can be “not against 2a”, but Progressives...

In related news, Holcomb also vetoed House Bill 1041 on Monday which would have banned transgender female high school athletes from playing on the girls’ teams. The bill had previously faced criticism despite passing through both the Indiana House and Senate. “It’s encouraging to see Governor Eric Holcomb tell his party that their culture wars have crossed the line. Signing House Bill 1041 into law would have put the lives of our children in jeopardy. However, this unnecessary debate has set a tone with kids that being transgender means something is wrong with them. It must be said that nothing...

Adrian Kellgren’s family-owned gun company in Florida was left holding a $200,000 shipment of semi-automatic rifles after a longtime customer in Ukraine suddenly went silent during Vladimir Putin’s invasion of the country. Fearing the worst, Kellgren and his company KelTec decided to put those stranded 400 guns to use, sending them to Ukraine’s nascent resistance movement to help civilians fight back against a Russian military that has been repeatedly shelling their apartment buildings, schools, hospitals and hiding places. “The American people want to do something,” said Kellgren, a former U.S. Navy pilot. “We enjoy our freedoms, we cherish those things....

On March 15, 2022, the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island found the Rhode Island ban on the possession of stun guns was unconstitutional under the Second Amendment. The decision is expected. Several other courts have found a complete ban on stun guns to be unconstitutional. The foundational decision was made in the United States Supreme Court in its unanimous decision about a stun gun ban in Massachusetts, Caetano v. Massachusetts. In the Rhode Island opinion, written by District Judge William E. Smith, there are several interesting observations. Judge Smith observes it is the burden of the...

American gun owners can expect ammunition and reloading component price increases due to soaring commodity prices in the next few weeks.
