Mass Shooting in Sacramento Shows California's Gun Control Laws Have Failed
Times of San Diego ^ | 7 apr 2022

Inevitably, last weekend’s horrendous fusillade of bullets on a downtown Sacramento street that left six people dead and at least a dozen wounded generated demands for new gun controls in state that already has the nation’s most restrictive firearms laws.

However, if anything, what happened just two blocks from the state Capitol underscores the folly of believing that gun violence can be meaningfully reduced by trying to choke off the supply of firearms — any more than the prohibition of liquor or the war on drugs succeeded.

The state’s gun laws have hassled law-abiding hunters and gun hobbyists and some are in danger of being declared unconstitutional. However, Californians already own more than 20 million rifles, shotguns and handguns and are buying hundreds of thousands more each year.

Nor have these laws prevented the lawless from obtaining weapons via theft, smuggling from other states or the illicit manufacture of untraceable “ghost guns.” Indeed, state restrictions have made the black market even more lucrative, mirroring the side effects of Prohibition and the decades-long drug war.

Criminal control is the problem, not gun laws. But of course Greasy Gavin knows that.

The shootings showed that the release of dangerous criminals does not work.

“underscores the folly of believing that gun violence can be meaningfully reduced by trying to choke off the supply of firearms — any more than the prohibition of liquor or the war on drugs succeeded.”

The true folly is that Democrats are trustworthy citizens fully capable of co-existing with Americans. Democrats aren’t capable of dealing with freedom.

“gun control laws” are unconstitutional and so extremely violative of citizens’ rights that few Americans have any respect or regard for them

they (and their proponents) are held in utter contempt

but even if such “laws” were legitimate in America... even if (as the “gun control law” proponents believe) we had NO Constitution or civil rights

the laws still would not prevent the occasional crime like this report

anti-theft laws don’t stop all thefts
anti-carjacking laws don’t stop all carjackings
and
anti-corruption laws don’t stop all politicians

In the commie’s twisted world this is just more fodder to pass more stupid gun laws that don’t work!

Actually, after reading the entire commentary, (Yeah, I know...) it really is sensible commentary.

It blows holes in the so-called "gun show loophole," and argues that more laws wouldn't have kept two prohibited serial felons from obtaining guns.

At least the anti-murder laws stopped all murders.

California has gun control laws? Who knew?

Certainly not the guys who entered all weapons blazing like “Guardians of the Universe”.

Gun control laws do not prevent gun crimes any more than laws making it illegal to commit murder or assault. The only effects of gun control laws are to disarm people who care about complying with the law and to give people who do not care about complying with the law the peace of mind of knowing that their victims are less likely to shoot back.

Well of course they fail. The laws aren’t made to secure justice, they’re made to make the legislators feel good.

Kindergarten-level question for California lawmakers: “What laws do criminals abide by?” There’s only one correct answer - none. But they already know this.

Shocking! (Pssst liberals, we told you all, along that more and more, as woild not slow down criminals for the very reason that they are criminals and they DO NOT obey laws!)

Yup- apparently, there isn’t one “sensible gun law” in the whole lot of the 6000 gun laws- evidently they are all “nonsense gun laws”, because crime has not been curtailed at all (the left keep claiming say they need “sensible gun laws” to stop crime- despite there being like 40,000 gun laws a,ready on The books- we all know however that more and more gun ,as only impact law abiding citizens [negatively], and do nothing to stop criminals)
