All Roads Lead to John Brennan ... HOW DEEP WILL THE INVESTIGATION GO? by Sharon Rondeau (May 15, 2019) — In the early-morning hours Wednesday, New York State resident Robert Laity completed a “Citizen’s Complaint” form located on the website of the U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut headed by U.S. Attorney John Durham, who was announced on Monday as having been selected to investigate the origins of the Trump-Russia “collusion” investigation which ended in a paucity of evidence supporting the FBI’s original allegation. According to Fox News on Tuesday night, Durham commenced the assignment weeks or even “months”...

Scientists say the 'skyglows' represent an entirely new celestial phenomenon Scientists began studying mysterious ribbons of light dubbed 'Steve' in 2016 While they were thought to be auroras, study shows they form differently Experts now say they're a distinct phenomenon that was previously unknown Mysterious purple and white ribbons of light seen dancing across the sky may represent a never-before-identified type of ‘skyglow.’ While amateur photographers have been documenting the phenomenon for decades, scientists only began to study it back in 2016. Initial research suggested the lights, which have come to be known as STEVE, may be a type of...

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court says states can force online shoppers to pay sales tax. The 5-4 ruling Thursday is a win for states, who said they were losing out on billions of dollars annually under two decades-old Supreme Court decisions that impacted online sales tax collection. The high court ruled Thursday to overturn those decisions. snip “Each year the physical presence rule becomes further removed from economic reality and results in significant revenue losses to the States. These critiques underscore that the physical presence rule, both as first formulated and as applied today, is an incorrect interpretation of...

Online shoppers could find costs going up after the Supreme Court did away Thursday with a decades-old precedent limiting the ability of states to collect sales tax on certain out-of-state Internet purchases. The 5-4 ruling called the current rules “unsound and incorrect.”

Sales Tax: $0. Online shoppers have gotten used to seeing that line on checkout screens before they click "purchase." But a case before the Supreme Court could change that. At issue is a rule stemming from two, decades-old Supreme Court cases: If a business is shipping to a state where it doesn't have an office, warehouse or other physical presence, it doesn't have to collect the state's sales tax. That means large retailers such as Apple, Macy's, Target and Walmart, which have brick-and-mortar stores nationwide, generally collect sales tax from customers who buy from them online. But other online sellers,...

Ted Cruz: We Can't Remain "Blind To The Fact That There Have Been Mosques Used As A Nexus For Promoting Jihad" TED CRUZ: This administration,... Radical islamic terrorism has declared war on us, ISIS has declared war on us... they are endeavoring as we speak to wage jihad, and kill as many Americans as they can. When the Obama administation cannot even say the words "radical Islamic terrorism," much less stand up and confront it, it puts us in a remarkably precarious position... I don't think we should be indiscriminantly closing mosques, but I also don't think we should be...

Asking for opinions on the best budget tablet. Something big enough for me to work on -- i.e., be able to type easily and see the display without holding it six inches from my face. Not worried about communications -- as long as it's got WiFi built in (which I'm sure they all do), I can use my cellphone as a mobile hotspot to transfer/send files. This is intended to be a replacement for a working laptop/notebook. And again -- "budget" is the keyword. Thanks all!.

This past month, the Illinois State Supreme Court determined the state’s affiliate nexus law—a law requiring out-of-state companies with advertising affiliates in the state to collect and remit sales tax—violated federal law. In the majority opinion, Justice Anne Burke ruled that Illinois’ attempt to force collection of sales tax by out-of-state retailers based on their decision to use in-state online advertising rather than traditional print advertising represented a discriminatory taxation regime on the Internet and therefore violated the federal Internet Tax Freedom Act. No one understands the significance of last month’s Illinois State Supreme Court decision better than FatWallet founder...

My son's Nexus 7 has developed several lines that run across the screen. They are on the side that has the power/volume buttons. The screen is not cracked nor scratched. I have tried doing a system reboot, but the problem remains. We just bought it in April, so I suppose it still has a warranty. I have no idea if we still have the receipt or box though. My son says that he didn't drop it, but who knows? Any ideas on what the problem might be? I tried google searching but didn't have much luck. Most of the links...

U.S. states could collect millions of dollars in online sales taxes, with members of both parties in Congress sponsoring legislation Thursday that would resolve states' decades-long struggle to tax businesses beyond their borders. "Small businesses and states alike are suffering from the inability to collect due — not new — taxes from purchases made online," said Rep. Steve Womack, R-Ark., adding the legislation is a "bipartisan, bicameral, common-sense solution that promotes states' rights and levels the playing field for our Main Street businesses." Legislation on the Amazon tax, named for the colossal Internet retailer, has languished for years. ..... <...

The gadget teardown experts at iFixit have forked out $530 for a Google Nexus One smartphone, taken it to bits and posted their thoughts online. The Nexus One cost iFixit $530 (£332/€369) After removing the phone’s plastic rear cover - a process iFixit described as “unbelievably easy”, the 5Mp lens, LED flash bulb, external speaker and “warranty-killing VOID sticker” of the HTC-manufactured handset can be clearly seen. The phone is "very nicely put together", according to iFixit.

Thanks to a clandestine meeting with a source, I got a chance to play with and try out the Nexus One. It's basically, from my time with it, Google's Droid killer. It's thin, it's fast, it's better in every way. My source was very firm about no photography, and I didn't want to jeopardize anything on my source's end, so there are no photos, hence these photos are ones we've already shown you. But, based on all the leaked shots this week, plus the very pretty and very clear one last week from Boy Genius, everyone knows what the phone...

The Indian-Israeli terror nexus Shireen M Mazari The present situation in the Middle East shows the desperate need for the UN to include state terrorism within any international convention on terrorism. Israel's unleashing of its military might against the Palestinian Authority and Palestinian people and against the hapless Lebanese state shows most starkly the terrorism a state with massive military resources can unleash. With US President Bush and his faithful sidekick Tony Blair, continuing to declare their absurd refrain of Israel's "right to defend itself", the international community has been reduced to a frustrated spectator to this latest act of...
