He committed a fowl. A hunter in the Canadian Arctic ruffled the feathers of a group of student “goose detectives” after he killed and ate one of the birds the youngsters were tracking from more than 3,500 miles away. Devon Manik, an Inuit hunter, made a meal of the goose after shooting it dead, unaware that students in Dungarvan, Ireland had tagged about 100 brent geese for a school project to monitor the species’ flight path as it migrated between Ireland and the polar region, according to The Irish Times. Manik said the waterfowl trek to the area in June...

J.D, Vance of Ohio about Haitian immigrants eating pets in Springfield, Ohio, are “false,” a phone call to an emergency dispatcher has emerged indicating that at least one report of such behavior was filed with police. Months ago, I raised the issue of Haitian illegal immigrants draining social services and generally causing chaos all over Springfield, Ohio. Reports now show that people have had their pets abducted and eaten by people who shouldn't be in this country. Where is our border czar?” Vance, the Republican candidate...

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul is in the midst of a showdown with New York City Mayor Eric Adams over the legality of foie gras, a luxurious, but controversial form of duck liver. Adams' administration has sought to enforce a ban on the delicacy over animal rights complaints, as producing the fatty liver requires force-feeding ducks at specialty farms elsewhere in the state. Former NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio had first signed the ban in 2019, and it was scheduled to take effect in November 2022. Hochul's state Department of Agriculture and Markets stepped in and ordered the city not...

OTTAWA—Prime Minister Justin Trudeau signed an executive order on Friday authorizing the Canadian Mounted Police to have all geese rounded up and shot for honking in solidarity with truckers. The "freedom convoy" of truckers has been a thorn in the tyrannical Canadian government's side since January 29th, but Trudeau and his cabinet are confident that annihilating avian support will demoralize the truckers and send them packing. Mounties began chasing geese on Saturday, following them around with burlap sacks and wacky oversized nets. Captured geese are being blindfolded, lined up, and shot—sometimes in mid-honk. "We now view the Canadian Goose as...

The sale of foie gras looks set to become illegal in New York City with city council members expected to pass a bill on Wednesday that bans the sale of the fattened liver of a duck or goose at restaurants and grocery stores. Under the bill, vendors and restaurateurs caught selling the French delicacy could be slapped with a $1000 fine and a year behind bars. Animal welfare advocates have long supported banning the sale of foie gras, claiming the practice of force-feeding a bird by sticking a tube down its throat is inhumane. However, farmers who produce the specialty...

At about 9 a.m. on Sunday, CHP officers were tasked with an unusual call: A flock of baby geese had wandered onto westbound Interstate 80 near the Ashby Avenue exit. In a Facebook post on the incident, CHP showed endearing footage of officers escorting the geese via vehicle along the freeway. When officers arrived on scene to find the geese, the animals were found in the left lanes of the freeway, said Officer Sean Wilkenfeld with CHP Oakland. "We ran a traffic break and we stopped the freeway so we can get them corralled to the right hand shoulder —...

Many people have Thansgiving traditions. One of our neighbors has the Thanksgiving tradition of getting drunk and running over our mailbox. Last summer, I cemented in our mailbox and used heavy pipe. Cut his car in half this Thanksgiving like Grandpa using the electric knife on the turkey. When the cops pulled him out of the left half of the car, he was yelling at them that he'd never win the race with a pit crew as slow as them. One of our family traditions is that I do the Thanksgiving grocery shopping. I feel it's part of the manly...

ALKMAAR, Netherlands, - A Netherlands public broadcaster shared a clip of its video drone being smacked out of the sky by an aggressive goose. RTV Noord-Holland, which shared the clip on YouTube, said the Egyptian goose apparently saw the drone as a rival when it was flying over the Oudorperpolder area of Alkmaar. The bird came in low to knock the device out of the sky. The drone did not appear to be seriously damaged and was able to make a relatively smooth landing.

Obama needed a filet mignon in the June employment report. But instead he got a rubber chicken. Only 80,000 new jobs were created last month, way below Wall Street expectations. It’s the fourth consecutive monthly disappointment. For a few months last winter, jobs were rising at an average of 225,000 a month. But that has sloped way down to only 75,000. The unemployment rate continues at 8.2 percent, which is the forty-first straight month above 8 percent. The U6 unemployment rate, which includes discouraged workers, is just under 15 percent. As voters finalize their election impressions this summer, all of...

Old Lyme — The goose with the arrow through its head that was spotted earlier this year is continuing to evade capture by town animal control officials. The bird stood out Friday in a flock of fellow geese near High Hopes, a horse farm on Town Woods Road. Old Lyme assistant animal control officer Lizabeth Gode said the goose is able to fly, which has thwarted attempts to capture it. She said officials have tried using nets and food to lure the goose, to no avail.

"The U.S. economy added no [net] new jobs in August--the worst showing in a year--as employers cut back hiring and trimmed work hours of existing employees," the Los Angeles Times reports. "The nation's unemployment rate in August stayed at 9.1%, as more people reported that they found part-time work, many of them because that's all that was available." Next week President Obama will speak to a joint session of Congress. As we noted yesterday, the president reportedly will ask Congress to pass a new "stimulus," though he won't call it that, because the last stimulus didn't--oh, wait. "One More Time:...
