A high-ranking official at the Seattle Fire Department was found dead Sunday, concluding a nearly two-week-long search after he failed to return from a hunting trip in central Washington. Seattle Deputy Fire Chief Jay Schreckengost, 56, was found dead in the mountains near Cliffdell in Kittitas County on Sunday evening, just about a half-mile from the spot where his pickup truck was parked on Nov. 2, the day he went hunting. The Texas Department of Public Safety reinstated a state trooper on Friday that it fired for conducting a roadside cavity search during a traffic stop for speeding. DPS Director Steve McCraw said he was rehiring Trooper Jennie Bui after a grand jury chose not to indict her for the incident in Brazoria County that has triggered a lawsuit by the two women involved. BURLINGTON, Maine - A fire chief in Penobscot County has been charged with being drunk behind the wheel while driving a fire truck with its lights on and its sirens going. Russell Banks of Burlington was arrested around midnight Saturday after a resident complained that Banks was racing a fire tanker by his home even though there was no fire in the area. A female Minneapolis firefighter has accused Fire Chief Bonnie Bleskachek of sexual harassment, job discrimination and retaliation, the third firefighter to sue Bleskachek in the past three weeks. The lawsuit was filed Wednesday in Hennepin County District Court by Kristina Lemon, a captain who has worked as a city firefighter since 1995.The suit, which also names the city as a defendant, alleges that Bleskachek repeatedly made sexual advances toward Lemon, a self-described lesbian who said she is in a committed relationship with another firefighter in the department.
