L.A. Fire Chief: Budget Cuts Took from ‘Nonessential’ Stuff, But ‘We Were Limited to a Certain Factor’
Breitbart ^ | 01/09/2025 | IAN HANCHETT

Posted on 01/09/2025 5:44:07 PM PST by ChicagoConservative27

During an interview with CBS News aired on Thursday’s “CBS Evening News,” LAFD Chief Kristin Crowley stated that the cuts to the department’s budget resulted in the department taking from “nonessential duties and responsibilities” but due to the cuts, “we were limited to a certain factor,” in their ability to respond to large-scale events, but with the wind with the recent fires being the way it was, “I honestly don’t think a thousand engines at that very moment could have tapped this fire down.”

Host Norah O’Donnell asked, [relevant exchange begins around 11:05] “[A] lot of people are talking about the warning that you sent last month that the budget cuts have ‘severely limited the department’s capacity to prepare for, train for, and respond to large-scale emergencies, including wildfires,’ you sent that warning about these budget cuts. Was this preventable?”

Crowley responded, “I’ll tell you from the budget cut side of things, when there’s a $17 million cut in our budget, operating costs, immediately, from that point, I had to make some tough decisions. I looked at some other duties and responsibilities that we do as a fire department and I had to focus right back on the training of our firefighters and also our ability to respond to the everyday fires and EMS response.”

The scariest part of this woke nonsense is when she admits she’s not strong enough to carry a man out of a fire, but it’s really the man’s fault for being in that situation to begin with

If they are “nonessential duties and responsibilities,” why are they being paid, even have a job?

Watch the full video. She says people ask if she can carry a man. Then if she has to carry you… you’re in the wrong place.

Hmm.

Like, maybe a fire?

That dimwit can’t step down soon enough. (2 more weeks)

Talk about a safe space interview for the DEI Fire Chief.

::If they are “nonessential duties and responsibilities,”
why are they being paid, even have a job?::

Of course, your question makes more sense than her statement. I don’t even know what she was TRYING to say...There had to be a more simple way to state whatever it was. They always obfuscate so as not to make a mistake and come out and tell the truth...

Did anyone see the “round table” discussion with Biden and Kamala in DC? I think it was in DC but when, I can’t say - before/after the service for Carter today?

Have to say Biden seemed to be the smartest one at the table and that’s pretty scary. He asked the same question over and over - about the utility lines that run through the fire areas - of ONE person and never got an answer and he KNEW that he was not getting the answer...I can’t even say what the guy’s position was but something to do with forest lands, I believe. It wasn’t a cabinet member. Had never heard of him before.

Biden thought Granholm was at the table and looked for her but was told she was on her way back from Puerto Rico - had gone down there because of their power problem - “she’s on her way back”, they kept telling him.

The one guy talked about the planes that didn’t get in the air to guide the planes that NEEDED to fly over the area to put water on the fire BECAUSE, the pilots to fly those planes were not current in their flight status. UNBELIEVABLE! It sounded like a scene from the movie Armageddon - getting pilots required for a mission out of bars etc.

Of course, anyone who spoke at the table and not that many did out of probably 15 or so, didn’t speak without paying compliments to Kamala and Biden for their great work...Kamala sat there nodding her head!!!!! Great contribution! Well, at least, she wasn’t laughing!

That was my first thought, too. Why the hell were there ANY “nonessential” people or equipment in the budget in the first place? A serious leader would have excised all that fat long ago.

I’m sure having LAFD join in the Alphabet Parades to celebrate perversions was not categorized as “nonessential” and wasn’t cut.
