SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California is spending $500 million to put an additional 1,000 electric school buses on the road as federal cuts and freezes paused efforts in other states to replace aging diesel-fueled fleets that are more polluting. Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office announced Wednesday that 1,000 zero-emission school buses and related charging infrastructure will be provided to over 130 rural, low-income and disadvantaged school districts. The state grants add about 500 more charging stations for school buses to more than 200 stations already in operation in districts. The expansion contrasts efforts in other states that were hampered by the...

A Florida bus driver fatally shot two passengers during an early-hours ride — even though drivers are banned from being armed, authorities said. The unidentified Metrobus driver opened fire when a fight broke out about someone bringing a bicycle on the bust just before 3 a.m. Sunday in Miami Gardens, sources told the Miami Herald. It was not immediately clear if the shot passengers — neither of whom have been publicly identified — were both involved in the fight, the paper said. Both were rushed to a nearby hospital but could not be saved. “I was just coming from the...

There’s going to be Hell to pay if the MTA doesn’t get its way — again. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority on Wednesday threatened another “Summer of Hell” if the Big Apple doesn’t continue ponying up big bucks — even as a recent watchdog study warned the city’s payments keep snowballing. Not to mention New Yorkers are set to get burned even harder with subway and bus fares getting hiked up to $3 in August. […] The proposed plan to fix the deteriorating, aging subway system assumes New York City will cough up $4 billion, but that amount could increase as...

The electric buses in question were made by a company called Proterra, which went bankrupt two years ago.. A city in Washington is selling nearly half of its electric bus fleet following reliability issues and difficulty getting replacement parts. The Everett City Council voted earlier this week to sell nine of the electric buses, of which only four are in service right now, because of reliability issues, including critical sensors and components that have been failing since they went into service. The city is now looking to purchase retrofitted diesel buses so there are no gaps in service. According to...

Federal authorities won't explain why three men who participated in the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, have mysteriously disappeared from the FBI's Capitol Violence Most Wanted list. One unidentified man wore an earpiece during the riot and was filmed carrying what appeared to be a concealed handgun on his left hip. The man was pictured on the FBI's most wanted list for over five months until he was removed without explanation on the same day the New York Times reported an FBI informant was at the Capitol on Jan. 6. A second unidentified man was filmed beating police officers...

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Oval Office appearance was, without question, the biggest public self-immolation by a country’s leader in world history. First, Zelensky arrives at the White House dressed like a tiny Ninja. Then, in front of the American media in the Oval Office with President Trump and Vice President Vance sitting right there, he challenges Vance to explain how diplomacy would be possible today when when American diplomacy failed under former President Obama in 2014. “What kind of diplomacy, JD, are you speaking about?” the Tiny Ninja sarcastically asked like a wiseass. “What do you mean?”

Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) claimed Tuesday on CNN’s “News Central” that the Trump administration was bullying Ukraine and throwing them under the bus by beginning talks with Russia. Van Hollen said, “The big missing party at that meeting in Riyadh was Ukraine. What we saw in Munich was a series of Trump administration officials essentially trying to to bully Ukraine into giving up lots of its natural resources in exchange for continued U.S. support.” He continued, “Well, I think Ukraine needs to be at the table when these negotiations are going on. after all, Putin attacked Ukraine. Ukraine has...

The Biden administration awarded Canadian electric bus company Lion Electric nearly $160 million to manufacture hundreds of battery-powered buses for school districts nationwide as part of its sweeping climate agenda. In recent weeks, Lion has initiated bankruptcy proceedings, laid off all employees tasked with building its buses, and paused manufacturing operations. Lion's financial demise leaves dozens of school districts—including those in California, Montana, North Dakota, Iowa, Alabama, and Maryland—questioning whether they will receive the buses the Biden administration promised them. Lion has yet to deliver $95 million worth of electric buses to 55 districts across the country, according to federal...

Thanks to The United States’ combination of lackluster train infrastructure and miserable flying experience, there often simply aren’t great choices to get places. Is the Greyhound bus our savior? No, absolutely not. Yet, despite the Greyhound’s reputation as as a last resort option, I’ve taken it several times (not as a last resort!) over the last few years.

In an editorial published on Friday, the board argued that Harris and the White House’s constant denial of Biden’s mental acuity issues, destroyed the party’s "believability" and Americans voted accordingly. The subheadline read, "Democrats’ coverup of the president’s decline hurt their claim of being the party of truth." "The credibility problems that Ms. Harris’ repeated defense of Mr. Biden’s sharpness illustrated were part of the reason Democrats met defeat," the board wrote.

Democrats believe Vice President Kamala Harris must admit to the failures of the Biden-Harris administration to survive exposure during Tuesday’s debate as the status quo candidate of the past three and a half years. Harris has clear vulnerabilities as the vice president: She cannot campaign on policies to fix crime, inflation, and border security without undermining the Biden-Harris administration’s policies, but she must tout the administration’s policies to validate her record and candidacy. “The debate will pose a challenge for Ms. Harris, who will have to decide how much to embrace or distance herself from President Biden and his policies...
