Two prototypes and new partnerships have brought Danish brewing giant Carlsberg a step closer to releasing a paper beer bottle. Carlsberg said in a press release that it was close to selling beer in paper bottles, in part to the partnership. Having worked on development of sustainable packaging since 2015, the company is scheduled to present two prototype paper bottles in Copenhagen on Friday. […] A “paper bottle union” between Carlsberg, The Paper Bottle Company (Paboco) and three other global companies — Coca-Cola, L’Oréal and The Absolut Company — is driving the development, according to the Danish brewery. …

Earlier this month, the makers of Absolut Vodka issued a public apology for running an ad with an early 1830s map of North America with the words "In an Absolut world" emblazoned across the front. The retraction came as a result of a threatened boycott initiated by conservative talk radio and Web sites. Who was Absolut apologizing to and why? The ad itself ran in Mexican magazines and was aimed at an international audience. I would never have even come across it had it not been brought to my attention by this controversy. The complaints seem to range from concern...

An organization fighting illegal immigration has launched a boycott of Absolut vodka after the Swedish company ran an ad showing large areas of the U.S. as part of Mexico. A map in the ad depicts Mexico owning California, Texas, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and other U.S. territory, with the slogan, “In an Absolut World,” and panders to the “separatist” movement among Mexicans, according to the National Illegal Immigration Boycott Coalition (NIIBC). “There is a rapidly growing separatist movement in the United States that is being fueled by illegal immigration across our southern border with Mexico,” the group said in a...

I'm Absolut Swedish but NEVER EVER again will I buy Absolut Vodka and I will, at least, TRY to avoid other products of V&S Group (their repertoire is a pretty broad one though and I kinda party from time to time..), a former Swedish company which recently was sold to French Pernod Ricard (for the sum of €5,626 billion). I've also managed to convince my father and some of my friends to join my initiative and I'll continue to campaign! The background is, of course, the already infamous Absolut Vodka ad with the words "In an Absolut World" slapped over...

Long live the glorious comrades at Absolut Vodka who have joined the progressive cause of humiliating Yankee imperialists by creating an ad with the map of the United States that would please the most radical members of Atzlan, La Raza, and Mecha. The ad was part of a new campaign with pictures of various pipe dreams accompanied by the slogan "In an Absolut World," which is translated from Swedish as "when pigs fly," "when the hell freezes over," or "in the Progressive World of Next Tuesday," whichever comes first. We immediately decided to join the struggle and throw a few...

In 1848, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo officially ended the Mexican-America War (1846-1848). With the signing of this treaty, the United States gained control of what was to become the Golden West, including California, Arizona, Utah, Nevada and parts of Colorado and New Mexico. Today, SKYY® Vodka, the number-one vodka produced in the United States, spoke out against suggestions by Absolut® Vodka to disregard that treaty, as well as the joining of Texas to the Union in 1845, as depicted in Absolut’s recent advertising. “Like SKYY Vodka, the residents of states like California, Texas and Arizona are exceptionally proud of...

April 09, 2008, 0:00 a.m. Absolut FollyThe Swedish vodka maker thinks radical politics will boost sales? By Michelle Malkin Is it wise for a global beverage company to pander to radical politics while alienating a much wider consumer base? Absolut, the Swedish-owned vodka maker, apparently drinks to that. Last week, my e-mailbox lit up with messages from readers and bloggers about a new Absolut ad catering to Mexican drinkers who believe the American Southwest belongs to them. (That extreme ethno-supremacist idea, of course, is not news to anyone who has paid attention to the massive illegal alien marches of the...

(That extreme ethno-supremacist idea is not news to anyone who has paid attention to the massive illegal-alien marches where "This is our continent, not yours" has been a rallying mainstay.) Favio Ucedo, creative director of leading US Latino ad agency Grupo Gallegos, (not involved in the Absolut campaign), explained the reconquista-endorsing ad: "Mexicans talk about how the Americans stole their land, so this is their way of reclaiming it. It's very relevant and the Mexicans will love the...

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - The distillers of Sweden's Absolut vodka have withdrawn an advertisement run in Mexico that angered many U.S. citizens by idealizing an early 19th century map showing chunks of the United States as Mexican. The billboard ad has the slogan "In an Absolut World" slapped over a pre-1848 map showing California, Arizona and other U.S. states as Mexican territory. Those states were carved out of what had been Mexican lands until that year. Although it was not shown in the United States, U.S. media outlets picked up on the ad, and after a barrage of complaints, Absolut's...

By Matt Sanchez © 2008 In an attempt to be "edgy," the Absolut Vodka manufacturer created an ad that hearkened back to the first Mexican Empire and included much of what is indisputably the United States of America. The ad (seen at right) placed California, Colorado and Texas in Montezuma's Revenge territory, which would be a disaster for the average human smuggler; could you imagine having to cross Texas on foot just to get a decent job or drink clean water?

More news from the front of the Wiki Wars, the ideological battle for the soul of Wikipedia: it seems left-wingers at the online encyclopedia site are angry that anyone would want to mention Absolut's reconquista controversy out of the vodka maker's article. How do we know this? From reading the "Talk" page for the Wikipedia entry "Absolut Vodka," where people can discuss the article and changes they'd like to see made to it. Apparently liberals there do not want the public to know that the company got in big trouble win consumers after it ran an ad in Mexico portraying that...

The vodka company that envisions an "Absolut" world in which Mexico regains the U.S. Southwest is now unveiling two new "lifestyle-driven" ads focused on homosexual men and their "members," and same-sex couples. Calling itself the "preferred brand of vodka for gay and lesbian consumers," the Absolut Spirits Co. says it's targeting homosexuals for the first time with a campaign "embracing both the humorous and socially conscious." "Absolut challenges the status quo by presenting a bold and optimistic worldview that speaks directly to gay men and women," the company said in a news release. "The campaign visually answers the questions 'what...

MEXICO CITY, Mexico (AP) -- The Absolut vodka company apologized Saturday for an ad campaign depicting the southwestern U.S. as part of Mexico amid angry calls for a boycott by U.S. consumers. The campaign, which promotes ideal scenarios under the slogan "In an Absolut World," showed a 1830s-era map when Mexico included California, Texas and other southwestern states. Mexico still resents losing that territory in the 1848 Mexican-American War and the fight for Texas independence. But the ads, which ran only in Mexico and have since ended, were less than ideal for Americans undergoing a border buildup and embroiled in...

What is the world coming to when Vodka is turning against you? The Los Angeles Times had a startling report about a new Absolut Vodka Ad. The LA times wrote that "the billboard and press campaign, created by advertising agency Teran\TBWA and now running in Mexico, is a colorful map depicting what the Americas might look like in an 'Absolut' -- i.e., perfect -- world. The U.S.-Mexico border lies where it was before the Mexican-American war of 1848 when California, as we now know it, was Mexican territory and known as Alta California."
