Washington — A commission that advises the federal government on architecture and the arts voted Thursday to approve President Trump's overhaul of the White House East Wing, clearing a key hurdle before above-ground construction can begin on a new ballroom.
Six members of the Commission of Fine Arts voted to give final approval of the project after discussing the plans at a virtual meeting. One member, the original architect of the ballroom, recused himself. All of the members were appointed by the president after he fired the previous members in October.

Just a few more federal district judges’ roadblocks to go. Should be cleared by 2030.
“I rode on the LA high speed rail and now danced in the White House ballroom. Can it get any better?”
——Awed citizen in 2030.
Should be great, really a needed building on the WH grounds.
Beautiful! I love this guy. Gutfeld is right - we don't deserve President Trump.
Beautiful.👍

That sound you hear is liberal heads splodin’.
Right now liberals are busy defending the Muslims who want to kill your dog.
It’s crazy.
That is NOT the hill to die on in the US.
I’ve never seen this with the humans in it for scale. This would be a great place to lose a glass slipper. 😆
As a ballroom it has its deficiencies. Not crazy about the landscaping or the entry. Were I a lady in a dress getting out of a limo, those stairs have no direct doorway at the end of a long climb. I hope it has a covered side entry at least but it would then lack the theatrical entry of notables as received from a line inside. Makes little sense to me unless I could see a floorplan.
I can see the fancy bits at the top of the columns being gold-leafed.

OOPs, I was posting about the White House, not the future ballroom.
” I hope it has a covered side entry at least but it would then lack the theatrical entry of notables as received from a line inside.”
I hope they fix that. If there isn’t a receiving line where “notables” can make a grand entry on a red carpet, flanked by two guards in powdered wigs dressed in 1700s costumes...how will we EVER win the mid-terms?
It’s very beautiful. I’m glad Trump is intent on maintaining our classical tradition.
That “brutalist” style that is around DC is just dreadful!
Trump: “I want a ball room.”
Commission: “Mr. President this is not approved.”
Trump: “You are all fired.”
Commission: “Mr. President your ball room is approved.”
Trump: Walks away and appoints a new commission because they obviously are too stupid to understand the art of the deal.
How many millions of dollars are we spending on a “Council of art” for crying out loud.
It is so refreshing to see a President who wants things better for America.
I have become tired of the thieving Democrats and their lapdog “press”.
There was so much fake news on this. “Trump is demolishing the east wing.”
Could you imagine the Monica Media including that fact when discussing a Rat president?
