NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The U.S. Supreme Court cleared the way for Tennessee to execute Christa Gail Pike on Wednesday, overturning a last-minute stay that stalled the state’s first execution of a woman in at least 200 years. Pike, 50, was initially scheduled to die by lethal injection in the morning for a killing she committed at age 18, and witnesses had already gathered at the Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville when the 6th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals voted 2-1 to issue a stay. That court said a delay was needed to consider whether Pike’s allegations of childhood...

The Western model of multiculturalism has changed Western high-trust societies into low-trust societies with high levels of crime, violence and internal conflict. The Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom are examples of societies that have gone through this transformation. The United Arab Emirates is an example of a country that has implemented multiculturalism in a very different way. They have implemented a clear and legal distinction between the own population and foreigners from other cultures. What would it look like if this Arab model were to be implemented in Western societies? This video contains a thought experiment. CONTENT 0:00 Introduction...

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) wrote a 26-page letter to the American people on Tuesday, urging them to vote for Democrats in the midterms. “Although American politicians often win your votes through deception and false promises, as Trump did, you can change the makeup of the government if you apply the criteria for good leadership in choosing the people you vote into office,” the IRGC said. “Remove from power the evil, deceitful, and violent politicians who are responsible for America’s current state.” The IRGC then asked Americans to “take back control.” The letter referred to Trump as a tyrant...

A team scanning a boat-shaped hill in eastern Turkey has announced that new radar images show a large man-made structure underground, not just natural rock. On Wednesday, private research group Noah’s Ark Scans released a preliminary report about their work at the Durupınar Formation in Turkey, claiming that the 515-foot boat-shaped mound contained a 'man-made object.' The scans were conducted by Dr Khosrow Bakhtar, an engineer who spent decades building detection systems for US defense agencies, including the Air Force, Navy and NORAD. He used a system he invented called BakhtarRadar, originally developed to find buried tunnels and hidden structures,...

One judge Wednesday defended his and other colleagues’ decision to speak publicly to the New York Times as “well within the ethical rules.” The Justice Department filed judicial misconduct complaints against all but one of Minnesota’s active federal judges Wednesday, calling recent media interviews they gave discussing the impact of the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement crackdown in their state evidence of partisan bias and a “threat to the rule of law.” The complaint, filed with the U.S. Court of Appeals for 8th Circuit, based in St. Louis, targets judges appointed in both Democrat and Republican presidencies, including at least one...

The U.S. government continues to ratchet up its use of the dollar as a foreign policy tool, even as the weaponization of the dollar has accelerated de-dollarization. Last Monday, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced plans to effectively ground Iran’s commercial airlines, saying that on Wednesday, Sept. 23, “All the Iranian airlines will be shut down around the world.” In pursuit of this goal, Bessent warned that any company or country supporting Iranian airlines could face secondary sanctions and be “knocked out” of the dollar system. “If they land, you cannot provide them with fuel, you cannot provide them with...

Mortgage rates continued to climb for the sixth straight week, reaching the highest level since November 2023. That caused weekly demand to drop 6%, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association’s seasonally adjusted index. The average contract interest rate for 30-year fixed-rate mortgages with conforming loan balances, $832,750 or less, increased last week to 7.30% from 7.12%, with points rising to 0.75 from 0.73, including the origination fee, for loans with a 20% down payment. Refinance demand has been hit hardest, given that so few borrowers can now benefit at today’s higher interest rates. Applications to refinance a home loan dropped...

An American spy satellite that was recently declassified to the public has mysteriously exploded, sparking concern that more satellites that provide phone and internet service may soon suffer the same fate. The White House says it has reduced legalized migration from Muslim-majority nations by more than 90 percent. The cutbacks are a huge setback to the progressive policy of importing diverse migrants to help fragment the civic rules that ordinary Americans have created to manage their neighborhoods, schools, and society. The policy shift also reduces the growth of antisemitic communities in U.S. society, said Noah Pollak, a Trump deputy in the Department of the Treasury and the Department of Education. “This is the single most consequential policy to combat antisemitism in the US in the last decade and it’s not even...
