Model dubbed GPT-6.1 Astra was due to make its debut inside ChatGPT and Codex in OctoberOpenAI is scrapping the release of its next-generation AI model over safety concerns that researchers raised during internal testing, in one of the clearest signs so far that agent misbehavior could stymie the industry’s rapid progression. The move follows a summer punctuated by reports of AI systems industrywide going rogue, and marks a rare case of a major AI developer ditching a new release because of safety concerns. The company had planned to launch the model, known as GPT-6.1 Astra, in the coming days or...

Every time Hunter Biden opens his mouth to indulge his newfound addiction to publicity, he confirms The Post’s reporting on his “laptop from hell.” For instance, he used to pretend that the corrupt Ukrainian energy company Burisma was paying him $1 million to sit on its board while his father was VP because of his expertise as a seasoned board member and learned lawyer. Now he admits all he had to do was show up to a few meetings high on crack to collect the money. “The requirement of the board would be that I would show up for four...

WASHINGTON — “Squad” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been decidedly absent from some of the most competitive battleground races this cycle — as the liberal darling mulls a 2028 presidential run. Moderate Democrats appear to have shown an aversion to stumping with Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) as the midterm homestretch kicks into gear, raising questions about the Bronx and Queens rep’s clout beyond the lefty base. “I get the sense that a lot of swing state Dems are byproducts of the very Democratic Party that lost 1,000 seats since 2010 and lost to Trump twice,” Corbin Trent, Ocasio-Cortez’s former communications director, bluntly told...

Chanel Rion OAN@ChanelRion·21hThey say keeping CNN out is “viewpoint discrimination.”In 2020, DOJ told them inviting me — even based on viewpoint — is not a First Amendment violation.I am the OAN reporter in this letter.WHCA kicked OAN out of the rotation. Roped off my chair. Made me stand in the back. Then Brian Karem’s lawyer screamed that Stephanie Grisham inviting me as her guest was unconstitutional.DOJ’s answer, on White House letterhead:- The briefing room is White House property.- The club’s seating chart is a practice the Press Secretary “merely acquiesced” in.- Special access to a particular reporter is not a First...

The Supreme Court on Monday announced that Justice Samuel Alito will not continue to participate in Suncor Energy Inc. v. County Commissioners of Boulder County, a significant dispute that will be argued in just one week, on Monday, Oct. 5, the first day of the 2026-27 term. Scott Harris, the clerk of the Supreme Court, revealed Alito’s last-minute recusal in a short letter to advocates involved in the case. Harris’ note does not provide an explanation for the decision, saying simply that “Justice Alito has determined that he will not continue to participate.” In Suncor Energy, the court is considering...

President Trump shouldn’t be putting recycled campaign ads on the air paid for by the taxpayers. The spot that aired this weekend is the same core video from a 2024 Trump campaign ad. That is the record. Morning Joe and CNN This Morning treated it with their usual paranoia as a border crossing into dictatorship. Joe Scarborough saw the tag and found Viktor Orbán and Vladimir Putin. “When I saw, at the end of that ad, paid for the U.S. government, that was such an Orban, Putin move.” Scarborough couldn't resist descending into his trademark hyperbole: “This is socialism! This...

Education Secretary Linda McMahon on Monday formally rescinded the Biden administration's Title IX regulations expanding sex-discrimination protection to include gender identity and sexual orientation. The move restores rules adopted during President Donald Trump's first term. The final regulation, expected to be published Tuesday, removes the Biden-era rule from the federal regulatory code after a federal court struck it down and reinstates the Trump administration's 2020 framework governing how schools handle sexual-misconduct allegations. The move "clears the Biden Administration's illegal rewrite of Title IX" and restores the previous rule's language, McMahon said in a statement. "Thanks to today's action, the published...

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB+WAVE) — Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear was in Louisville teaching Sunday school at a local church and provided an update on a possible presidential run. Beshear visited St. Stephen Baptist Church as a special guest teacher for its Men’s Day Sunday School Class. While at the event, Beshear spoke about a possible presidential run and his recent book, “Go and Do Likewise: How We Heal a Broken Country.” During an interview with WDRB anchor Gilbert Corsey, he was asked about the book and how it reads almost like a cover letter for the highest office in the country....

President Donald Trump is unveiling Monday plans for a massive steel plant in Iowa that the White House says will be the largest in American history and promises to bring 1,750 permanent jobs to the state. The roughly $15 billion steel plant is touted as a major new investment and evidence that Trump's economic agenda is bringing heavy manufacturing back to the U.S. with just over a month until the midterms. It will create between 5,000 and 6,000 construction jobs during its first phase. Trump is expected to make the announcement from the Oval Office at 2 p.m. alongside executives...

Mr. Will Johnson@WillTheRealDeal·15hWhy is it a problem for a free Black man to love his country? Why would people go out of their way because a Black man decided to think independently?Have you noticed that White Conservatives are the ones who want Black people to succeed, not the socialist left? Everything I’ve said is true, and many of you can’t help but say hateful things.I’m never going back! Let that sink in.

The back cover copy of the celebrated book, The Limits to Growth, by Donella H. Meadows, et al. begins as follows: When each of us decides to buy something, we first consider the price. Yet society at large has long bought the idea of continual growth in population and production without adding up the final reckoning."The final reckoning" sounds a little terrifying, doesn't it? The Christian often thinks of "the final reckoning" as the Last Judgment: that moment when the human soul stands alone before Christ, the Just Judge. All his faith, thoughts, and deeds are weighed in the balance...

There was a time when California built big things efficiently. In the 1930s, for example, the state simultaneously constructed the iconic Golden Gate Bridge and Bay Bridge — both marvels of engineering — in about a four-year span. Both on time. Both on budget. Those days are gone. Today, examples abound of California construction projects gone (way) awry. One of those is the long-awaited People Mover at LAX. The project’s contractor, LAX Integrated Express Solutions, disclosed this month that the train — intended to whisk people around LA’s famously sprawling airport — will not open in October as most recently...

They came by night from all over England. Hundreds of men in black, their faces hidden by black balaclavas, descended on the ports of southern England. At dawn on Sept. 5, as many as 200 men seized the rotaries on the approaches to Britain’s busiest port, Dover in Kent. The men in black took the police by surprise. For four hours, they blocked the highway to London and disrupted England’s lifeline to the European continent. The next night, they descended on Southsea, near the Royal Navy base at Portsmouth, Hampshire after a British lifeboat landed a “mega-dinghy” of 140 illegal...

I don't know if I'm the only one experiencing this in the last several years or if others have noticed this as well. I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone whenever I talk to medical provider offices. The level of communication skills is just in the gutter. I get ghetto-level schedulers and other personnel who can barely speak English, or who don't speak clearly into the phone. Not at one provider only, but with ALL the providers I deal with. And their knowledge of their jobs is just as abysmal. It's like I went to a Walmart cashier to...

Larry Alex Taunton@LarryTaunton·22hPassing time in a tightly packed airport coffee shop recently, I ended up in conversation with a thirty-something couple sitting only inches from me. I was coming from Mexico City and they were going there. After the usual banter, I asked where they were from and learned they were New Yorkers moving out of that city. They didn’t offer a reason and I didn’t press for one. They asked me what I did for a living and I explained that I was a writer currently investigating how cartels were smuggling people into the US. I say I was chatting...
