I don't know if I'm the only one experiencing this in the last several years or if others have noticed this as well. I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone whenever I talk to medical provider offices. The level of communication skills is just in the gutter. I get ghetto-level schedulers and other personnel who can barely speak English, or who don't speak clearly into the phone. Not at one provider only, but with ALL the providers I deal with.
And their knowledge of their jobs is just as abysmal. It's like I went to a Walmart cashier to have my gall bladder removed. I can't get a coherent sentence from anyone, either because they're straight of of the 'hood, or English is their second or third language. Don't competent white males or females apply for these jobs anymore?
It's idiocracy brought to life! I feel like society is crumbling.

I noticed that as well............Medical personnel are expensive. Clerical personnel are not...........
I guess these are the products of the fly-by-night “medical assistant colleges” that you see advertised during daytime television. They are diploma mills, mostly paid for by education grants from taxpayers.
One of the reasons we keep going back to this one particular place, and recommend it highly to friends is the high level of service.
No more costly than other places, very good principals and techs of course, but the staff is top notch.
Receptionists, Billing, Scheduling, all friendly, capable, and knowledgeable about their tasks.
We don’t tell too many, because then it would get crowded.
When most institutions are failing, one must start thinking in terms of “Civilization Collapse”. Citizens no longer have what it takes to push back.
I dropped by my local medical center to change my phone number so my doctor could send me texts.
The woman at the desk who took my info had fingernails so long that she could barely type the changes one character at a time by slowly pressing the keys with the meaty part of her fingertip, being careful not to scratch her expensive nail ‘art’.................
The lockdowns destroyed literacy.
I believe the medical field is subject to the same problem as other fields. Medicine as a business is taking the place of medicine as a profession that has business aspects. The emphasis is on the business part, making money, and not on the profession part, providing medical care.
Hence the growing popularity of concierge medicine.

"Women of Color" can be very particular about their weaves and their fake nails ... and, of course, requiring them to present themselves in manner consistent with job performance is racist.
So we get the situation you describe ...
I noticed this in a lot of other areas as well. The coarsening of society plays into it.
I am looking for someone to retile my shower stall. I got connected with one of these referral services for shower and tub repair. The only calls I got were the "insert" installers, a 3 or 5-hour job. I could not find a craftsman anywhere who would do a retile job. It's too expensive and time consuming for them when a minimally-paid, unskilled laborer can just fasten a new one in place. I don't trust them to do that even minimally well.
Very general comment:
Once upon a time, people could have “ordinary” jobs at the hardware store, the medical office, the gas station, all over the place — and they made enough, and things were cheap enough, that you could build an actual life at those jobs. You could work there for 20 or 30 years and get really good at that job. That was good for you, and good for the customers.
Nowadays, a whole lot of people are working “real” jobs and cannot really survive, and they hate their job, and they hate their customers, and they switch to a new job every year or two (because there is no advancement in any of these jobs, so why bother sticking around?), and they never know what the heck they’re doing. It’s bad for everyone.
We have built a dystopia.
My wife was ‘tarded. Now she’s an airline pilot!
