KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Missouri and Kansas are warning SNAP recipients about potential benefit losses if the government shutdown continues. On Monday, the Missouri Department of Social Services sent out a warning saying it will not be able to fund November SNAP benefits if the government doesn’t reopen. The department said it “encourages” people to stretch their October balance into the next month, “if possible.” Throughout the metro, thousands are preparing for the potential impact. Adolph Pratt, a Kansas City, Kansas resident who relies on SNAP benefits, said the potential loss would force difficult choices. “It’s going to make...

Demolition began Monday on the East Wing of the White House to make way for President Trump’s massive new $250 million ballroom. Photos provided to The Post show that construction crews have already ripped off the covered entrance that for decades greeted visitors going on tours or attending special events. Windows facing the Treasury Department are smashed and half-off their hinges and the former upper-floor White House calligraphy office bears a gaping hole. Video that circulated after the photos were snapped shows a large demolition machine reaching well into the structure to pull out rubble as a hose sprays water...

GOP mayoral nominee Curtis Sliwa ripped foe Andrew Cuomo and the Dem Party on Saturday when asked whether he’s playing spoiler in the race — saying they’re the only ones to blame if Zohran Mamdani wins. “Now [Cuomo’s] saying, `I can’t win without Sliwa votes.’ Where are your votes?!” Sliwa said on YouTube’s “The Nate Friedman Show.” The rise of the lefty Democratic Socialist Mamdani “is the result of Democrats’ self-destruction,” Sliwa said. “Who created Zohran Mamdani?” he said. “So I’m supposed to help them? How come they don’t help themselves? Andrew Cuomo failed everyone in the [Democratic] primary. He...

Homeowners in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada are being told to attend a city meeting next week because apparently their property titles might not mean what they thought they did. They may no longer own their own property after a court ruling. The meeting, set for October 28, follows a British Columbia Supreme Court ruling that gave the Cowichan Tribes Aboriginal title to about 7.5 square kilometres of land on Lulu Island, an area that includes private homes, farms, golf courses, and even port facilities. The August 7 decision said the Nation had exclusive occupation of the land before 1846, meaning...

Lawyers for former FBI Director James Comey are asking a federal judge to dismiss the criminal case against him, arguing prosecutors repeatedly violated the Constitution and engaged in "flagrant misconduct" when securing their indictment of Comey at the direct orders of President Donald Trump. "Bedrock principles of due process and equal protection have long ensured that government officials may not use courts to punish and imprison their perceived personal and political enemies. But that is exactly what happened here," said one of two motions filed by Comey's attorneys Monday. "President Trump ordered the Department of Justice (DOJ) to prosecute Mr....

The Israeli army believes that Hamas has reestablished its hold over Gaza's governing institutions since the cease-fire went into effect on October 10. Despite the population's dire situation and destruction from two years of war, the Israel Defense Forces have seen no significant opposition emerging or anti-Hamas protests. Army sources said local gangs that Israel backed during the last phases of the war, in the hopes they could challenge Hamas rule, have disbanded and/or their members have been eliminated or removed from the scene. Many Hamas operatives have been seen shooting anyone who is seen as opposing the organization or...

“‘. . . so that all will honor the Son even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life’” (John 5:23–24). The Father’s purpose in entrusting all judgment to Jesus is “so that all will honor the Son even as they honor the Father.” It is only fitting that those equal in nature (vv....

Huntington Beach and its all-Republican city council have proudly led California’s conservative resistance. Now, if California voters approve Gov. Actor Robert De Niro surprised MSNBC’s "The Weekend" panel after dropping an f-bomb during Sunday’s show while describing Democratic pushback against President Donald Trump. De Niro appeared on the show to discuss the recent "No Kings" protests that took place nationwide on Saturday and the Democratic Party’s messaging strategy. The "Taxi Driver" actor largely complimented members of the party, including recently indicted New York Attorney General Letitia James, for standing against Trump. "There’s something," De Niro said. "I like Hakeem Jeffries. I like…Chuck Schumer, Adam Schiff, they’re all great, strong. I like what Letitia James is doing. She’s fighting back....

Major employers that historically have hired large numbers of H-1B employees have begun disqualifying job seekers who require H-1B visa sponsorship since President Donald Trump used his executive power to impose a new $100,000 fee on applications for the work visa. Silicon Valley and tech leaders have been split over the policy, with some arguing the fee would hurt innovation as many startups won’t be able to hire top talent and others saying they are willing to pay it to get the best workers. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said the fee is meant to encourage companies to turn to American...

McVitie’s Penguins and Club biscuits are no longer allowed to carry the word “chocolate” on the label due to a recipe reformulation caused by cocoa prices soaring over 150 per cent in 2024–2025 and hitting $10,000 per tonne in April.UK regulations require 25 per cent cocoa solids for milk chocolate coatings, but Pladis, McVitie’s owner, reduced cocoa content below that threshold and opted for palm and shea oils to keep costs down. The iconic Club slogan, “If you like a lot of chocolate on your biscuit, join our Club,” became “If you like a lot of biscuit in your break,...

WASHINGTON — Thousands gathered in the nation’s capital on Saturday, rallying and repeating one refrain: “No kings.” They joined thousands of other gatherings around the country organized by Democratic groups and activists to protest President Donald Trump and his administration with a second round of “No Kings” rallies following an initial nationwide day of protest in June. While many protesters spoke to NBC News about their dissatisfaction with Trump, a plethora of left-leaning and liberal protesters also made one more thing clear: They’re not happy with their Democratic leaders, either. “I don’t have a lot of faith in the Democrats...
