SNAP benefits at risk in Missouri, Kansas as government shutdown continues

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Missouri and Kansas are warning SNAP recipients about potential benefit losses if the government shutdown continues.

On Monday, the Missouri Department of Social Services sent out a warning saying it will not be able to fund November SNAP benefits if the government doesn’t reopen. The department said it “encourages” people to stretch their October balance into the next month, “if possible.”

Throughout the metro, thousands are preparing for the potential impact.

Adolph Pratt, a Kansas City, Kansas resident who relies on SNAP benefits, said the potential loss would force difficult choices.

“It’s going to make a great bit of difference,” Pratt said. “There’s going to be a lot of things that I won’t be able to get.”

Pratt said losing benefits would mean using more of his Social Security check for food and cutting other necessities.

“It means that a lot more is going to have to come out of my social security check to buy food. Just a lot of other things like, things I need, like toiletries that I won’t be able to get because of the fact that food will be a priority,” he said.

Pratt said he hopes the situation resolves quickly, especially with winter approaching.

“The actual food pantries are going to get overloaded with a lot of mandated things that people need,” he said. “It’s going to be a big difference in the long run if this continues. I’m just really hoping this is a scare tactic.”

There's plenty of food in Kansas and Missouri. Let the ferals glean the fields.

Don't forget that there are many tasty recipes for corn and cornmeal. Cornmeal mush, cornbread,
hush puppies, corn fritters, corn cakes, creamed corn—you are only limited by your imagination.

I just read a story about Oregon leeches. Apparently 1 in 6 Oregonians get snap and food stamps. Failure = success to democrats.

Right about the junk food. I actually saw a woman in a supermarket too fat to walk so she drove one of thos sit-down carts stores have. She absolutely loaded up on horrible junk food.

But there are deserving people who need SNAP benefits, young familis with kids who’ve been out of work for awhile because companies move or close., old people living on social security. Isn’t RFK, Jr changing what SNAP benefits pay for? Or at least has discussed it.

I hope the Republicans don’t drop the ball and fail to nail this to Schumer and the Dims.

Can’t the state just write a check and wait for reimbursement? Or maybe they should have taken up a collection at the No Kings rally to cover their favorite spending programs.

People can learn to spend wisely and if there’s a real need, go to churches or food pantries.

But then there’s accountability with them and welfare deadbeats don’t want that. Seen it too often.

Besides, they can cut back on the cigs, booze, drugs, and electronic device purchases and buy food instead.

Welfare leeches in their Barcaloungers smoking dope, drinking beer, eating pork rinds and watching TV have always found the sight of us driving past their windows on the way to work 8 hours a day to be amusing. Laughed at us and asked “Who’s the smart ones?”

41.9 MILLION people get SNAP.

“As of 2019 approximately 100 million people receive some form of assistance.”
One report said the average time of being on welfare is 13 years.

Some “bridge” to cross to the self-respect of having a good job and earning your own way as the original concept for welfare used to be.

I have to ask

Is this,,,

1. A lie, and only illegals are being cut off ?

Or

2. The Dem.Antifa harming and terrorizing a whole bunch of citizens by their refusal to vote this budget through to bully Congress to accept the 1.5 trillion giveaways to illegal aliens ?

3. Or both ?
