Scientists could be on the verge of a medical breakthrough in understanding what's driving a rise in blood cancers among older adults. Research has long suggested that the colony of trillions of bacteria living in our digestive systems – known as the gut microbiome – could be the key to our overall health. The more diverse those microscopic colonies are, the better our immunity to a host of diseases from heart disease to dementia. But US researchers have now discovered that patients with leukemia — an aggressive form of blood cancer — have higher levels of one specific bacteria in...

A 19-year-old man has been charged with arson for allegedly sparking the massive wildfire in the New Jersey Pine Barrens that has torched 15,000 acres, prosecutors said. Joseph Kling, of Ocean Township, allegedly started a bonfire in the vast Forked River Mountains Wilderness Area with wooden pallets that exploded out of control when he did not properly put it out, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. Kling was taken into custody at Ocean Township police headquarters and taken to the Ocean County Jail, where he is awaiting his detention hearing.

President Donald Trump on Thursday offered rare criticism of Vladimir Putin, urging the Russian leader to “STOP!” after a deadly barrage of attacks on Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital. “I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying,” Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform. “Lets get the Peace Deal DONE!”

Music has always been political, so I wasn’t at all surprised by the, shall we say, expressiveness at this weekend’s Coachella festival. Nor was I surprised that the political sloganeering was aimed at denouncing the Jewish state—if you’re a band nobody’s ever heard of, and you don’t have the talent to change that with your music alone, you’ll be tempted to jump on the anti-Israel bandwagon and hope it can pull you farther than you were able to go on your own. The band itself is obviously not important, but I couldn’t help but think of how strange it is...
  • The birth rate went up in 2024 after a historic drop, driven by moms over 40

    04/24/2025 7:09:31 AM PDT · by SeekAndFind · 35 replies
After years of ominous headlines about the world's shrinking birth rates, there's a bright spot. The US birth rate increased slightly in 2024, according to preliminary data from the CDC. The 1% rise in births was largely driven by moms in their early 40s, who gave birth to 2% more children in 2024 than in 2023. Moms in their 30s and late 20s also experienced slight increases in births. Brady Hamilton, the lead author of the report, told Business Insider that the stats are a continuation of the trends of the last three decades. Women in their late 20s to...

Inventories are now being taken, and a detailed report will be forwarded as soon as they are complete. The quantity of cotton will probably reach 3,000 bales, and there is a large amount of provisions and forage. EDWIN M. STANTON, Secretary of...

[Catholic Caucus] IMPORTANT: Worldwide Spiritual Bouquet for the Election of a Holy PopeWith the death of Pope Francis and upcoming conclave to elect the next Supreme Pontiff, the organizers of Missae pro Missa ("Masses for the Mass") hereby announce our third -- and perhaps most important -- campaign: a worldwide spiritual bouquet imploring God for a holy pope as the next Successor of St. Peter. As with the earlier two campaigns, launched in 2023 and 2024 for the preservation of the Traditional Latin Mass, there are four ways to participate:1. Request Masses to be said "for a holy pope" (e.g., through...

The 55-year-old man is accused of scratching the vehicle panels, causing more than $1,500 in damage. According to court documents, the 52-year-old faces a felony charge...

New York Attorney General Letitia James, champion of the poor and wretched, is now facing criticism for her conduct as a landlord. Records from the New York City Department of Buildings and the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) indicate a troubling pattern of neglect at her five-unit apartment building at 296 Lafayette Avenue in Brooklyn. In the past 20 months alone, there have been 17 complaints against James with the New York City Department of Buildings. ... A Florida woman was denied service at a Taco Bell because none of the workers spoke English. Apparently the Chalupa Supreme Combo doesn’t translate South-of-the-border. Alexandria Montgomery posted a video of the entire incident as it unfolded in the drive-thru of the Taco Bell in Hialeah. “Nobody here speaks English? Nobody in the back speaks English? So you can’t take my order,” Montgomery said. At one point another staffer intervened, but that individual claimed not to speak English, too. “She doesn’t want to help me because she don’t speak English. But you know the menu. You work here, so you...

Cherie Currie was the lead singer of the 1970s hard rock band The Runaways. It’s the same group that launched the career of Joan Jett. These days, Cherie Currie still performs to adoring audiences, but she is also more focused on politics, and she has embraced MAGA and the conservative movement. A quick glimpse at Currie’s Twitter/X account lets you know exactly where she stands. Currie’s political transformation has been in the works for a while. Western Journal reported on this almost a year ago: Former Punk Rock Lead Singer Cherie Currie Renounces the Democratic Party After Realizing She ‘Fell...

More insanity from the globalist Western European elites. According to news reports last week, the Trump Administration suggested it was prepared to recognize Russian control over Crimea. This is part of a broader peace agreement that the US has facilitated between Ukraine and Russia. If elected, President Trump promised to bring peace to Ukraine, but he did not understand that illegitimate President Volodymyr Zelensky and the globalist Western warmongers would be his main obstacles to peace in the region. Crimea is a peninsula off Ukraine in the Black Sea. In 2014, Russia took control of the region and its ports...

A scraggly octogenarian allegedly scratched five Teslas at a Long Island mall in a tantrum over Elon Musk and President Trump – but he later told The Post it was all a big mixup. Victor Divergilio, 83, caused $23,000 in damage to the cars at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City on Sunday afternoon and allegedly fumed to detectives that Tesla CEO Musk “should die” and “so should Trump f–king die,” according to a criminal complaint. But he sang a different tune in a brief phone interview with The Post Wednesday. “If I did something against him, it wouldn’t...

President Donald Trump has received a lot of negative press, in which people say he acts like a king and that his popularity is shrinking. However, new polls show most Americans don’t buy the “excessive power” narrative. Even CNN analyst Harry Enten is trying to warn Democrats not to trust the spin. Spreading the Trump Narrative “Americans largely do not believe Democrats’ claim that President Donald Trump is behaving like a king,” Enten said. “[T]he majority of Americans think the president either does not have enough power or has the perfect amount of power. … So the idea, that argument...

The party is broken – and once-integral cogs in the machine are slated for replacement. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has now perhaps become the most high-profile victim of the Democratic Party’s civil war – with less emphasis on the “civil.” A new breed of zealous progressives has been extending its influence over the party for at least the last decade, and President Donald Trump’s 2024 victory may have been the last straw for this radical faction. Schumer suddenly finds himself widely unpopular, and that may well bring an end to his leadership role and maybe even his political...

Let me clear something up right now before we go any farther. I'm not saved by a church. The Bible makes it very very clear that I'm saved by the Lord Jesus Christ. So I want every person watching on TV to know that this Adventist believes we are saved through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. So, salvation is not found in a church, salvation is found in a person, the Lord Jesus Christ. I also want to say I am very conscious of the good people in other churches. .........God has got his children in every church. I'm...

Earlier this month, I got the chance to be a student again for just one morning. It was an opportunity offered to all members of the UNC-Chapel Hill Board of Visitors, and I jumped at the chance to go back to campus to observe two classes. Among the options were two courses in the new School of Civic Life and Leadership. My first class of the day was “Practice of Civic Life and Leadership,” taught by Professor John Rose, which the course catalog thus describes: This course focuses on the ideas and practices necessary to analyze arguments and disagree in...
