Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders are now live in the U.S. After an unexpected delay from the initially announced date in early April, Nintendo's hotly anticipated new console is now available to pre-order at select retailers.
Major retailers Walmart, Target and Best Buy opened the pre-order floodgates at midnight ET, and the demand was significant, with website crashes and "sold out" notifications quickly appearing at all three.
If you're just joining the pre-order hunt now, you haven't missed out yet. GameStop has opted for an 11 a.m. ET drop. As Nintendo warned, demand is already exceeding the supply...

Does is play Pacman?
G-Rated gaming, probably a good sign.
:^) Dunno. Not a gaming aficionado.
Rapidly selling out, yet all the press was about people complaining the price was too high… huh
The notorious GameStop stock trades at over 80 P/E, is up a percent today. :^) While checking, I noticed this:

Scalpers, or people ordering two, then turning around and putting one up on Ebay, which will probably sell to someone desperate enough to pay the inflated asking price.
Yeah, the problem for Nintendo in the past was too much popularity. :^)
Starting at least as long ago as the Wii, the company had supply constraints that were worsened by scalpers.
I recall a news broadcast where a guy in Singapore or somewhere in that area (and his face was blurred out) had sunk every cent he could get his hands on to fill his one room apartment with new-in-box Wii systems.
He was sleeping along one wall, a sort of temporary corridor, with the door to the bathroom at one end, the efficiency kitchen at the other. He wasn’t the only one, and he was making a fortune. :^)
I had to laugh when the DNC anti-tariff talking points — part of the TDS family of talking points — included concerns about the impact on Nintendo’s rollout. :^D
Well if the reason it is selling out are scalpers, and it doesn’t sell they will take a bath.. We shall see.
Nintendo put some requirements on registering interest in the purchase of the Switch 2 — have to be a member of their player’s club, have logged at least 50 hours, and then can put your name in to buy ONE.
Nvidia made the chip and had said that Nintendo had it for years now.
My wild guess is, the rollout is being done well before Christmas, and that production was ramped as soon as all the rigorous testing of the hardware and the flagship game went flawlessly.
I’m sure an appropriate number of tens of millions of units will be ready to satisfy demand.
The original Switch rollout was eight years ago, and included the boss of the company smiling as Jimmy Fallon played games on it during the Tonight Show. Nintendo knows what it’s doing. :^)
“ Does is play Pacman?”

It will be valueless to me unless it plays ‘Pong’.
Trump’s ‘conomy might be trashed and nobody can afford eggs but thank the Lord EVERYBODY is going to still have the big bucks necessary to fight over Ninetendo games.
Usually on console preorder launches (and launch day itself), most of these websites get hugged to death by traffic some scalper bots and actual customers trying to make a purchase. I did not see that last night with either Best Buy nor Walmart, so to their credit they've changed something to make the experience at least a little more tolerable.
At almost every console launch, I've had to resort to showing up in person to get one. Online has never worked out for me, until now.
Yeah, Nintendo doesn’t have any real control over indie retailers.
Right, because President Trump destroyed the economy. /s
Most scalpers could use a bath... ;^)
My grandchildren said the price was way too high.
Trump’s bad economy has all of the new vehicles, and there are a lot of them, driving around town with paper plates on them. We’ve got a lot of car dealerships but the number of dealerships has doubled or tripled since last year. Car washes are springing up everywhere and they now outnumber the number of McDonald’s here. People are actually complaining that we don’t need any more new car washes. I glad Trump’s economy isn’t booming.
OMG! How will we survive without nintendo?
